Fatigue is a trigger.

Overwhelm is a trigger for me. If I don’t know how to move forward in something, I want to lock myself in a room with food. Shame is also a trigger, I feel like binging when I’m around people who I think are better than me. There also may be an aspect of feeling like the food will run out when other people are present? Someone suggested making a mental note that “I can make more of that tomorrow if I want!” To help ease the anxiety about that.

everything u said in this video resonates with me and all of these are triggers for me. another one is when i feel like i have failed to please a certain person that i wanted to please. whenever i disappointed somebody, i find that it is such a huge trigger for me and it is all i could think about. and it feels overwhelming because i want to do something about it but i can't. that overwhelming feeling is such a huge trigger for me.

Thank you, Sara. I have been stuck in diet mentality for 50 years! For the first time I feel as though I have hope

I started dieting in March of this year and I would constantly deprive myself, stick to salads and cut out sugar completely which messed me up so bad. I’ve been confused for months as to what I should do to end this cycle but your videos give me so much clarity. Emotional eating is a main trigger for me but now I know that I should learn to accept and tackle the problems/ emotions instead of trying to conceal them with food. Thank you.

I have a hard time letting go of the idea to binge after Ive gotten the urge, even if I logically can talk to myself and know what to do the urge just clogs up my brain or something... I just get so many excuses and the "tomorrow will be different" thoughts

I didn’t realize I have had binge eating disorder for years until recently when I started my nursing fundamentals and found out there is such thing called BED in my textbook. Since then, I have been watching videos and trying to find information that could help me. Your videos really helped me and I can relate to what you said. I am going to watch all your videos. Thank you so much!

Wow! I found this particular video really powerful. I experienced some of this awareness today during an emotional moment (in which I wanted to run and immediately eat something) and realized what was going on, acknowledged my emotions and moved on. I have been really peaceful about food all throughout this entire evening. HUGE WIN! What a freeing experience! I am completely convinced that your videos and experience are just exactly what I've been looking for, for years! Bless your heart for being moved to share your life with us. It's life changing and saving.

This is so accurate. As a kid I didn't like sweets. But when I gained a bit of weight my parents would tell me to diet and don't eat sweets. Giving me lots of restrictions. I ended up eating it more even if I didn't like it in the first place which made me gain way more weight

So enlightening.. but I find it hard to actually identify my emotions. Sometimes I don't feel like I am experiencing any specific emotions, the urge kinda just comes out of nowhere 😕

Thank you so much for putting these videos online for free 🥰 I seriously feel like I should be paying you with most of these lol. But anyway wow! I really thought it was just a really weird personal thing, as far as becoming comfortably full and the fullness making me want to binge! Your videos have been helping me understand things so much better lately since I've discovered your channel. I can't thank you enough 💜

Late to the party here but my favorite video of yours so far. Dieting definitely caused food issues for me. Had none before and the struggle is real.

This was very helpful. My binge eating is definitely triggered by emotions and fullness. I have now decided to take my power back and understand why this happens. Being aware of it, I am hoping will help me with my binge eating. As it has taken over my life and makes me feel horrible inside after it happens

I found it interesting how you said dieting actually leads to emotional eating, I think this is so true, ahh the contrary. Thank you for this video, its very relatable and the sharing of your own personal experiences are super helpful too!

Everything is a damn trigger it seems. I've at least gotten all foods out of my bedroom now, and I am trying to only eat in the dinning room, not in my bedroom. That is a bit of a struggle at the moment though.

Mine is a stressor during the day my violent ex is harassing my ex girlfriend with her partner about her mental health and asking if i went out with her. Now hes harassing her partner about me. Hes violent. I weigh 32 kilo or less and im going to the guards. Hes out of his of mind. I found id binged again after hearing that news. He tried to break my shoulder before. He has this disturbing need to control despite the fact ive a girlfriend now and have walked away. One comfort is shes a lot more built than him but hes still very very dangerous.

I can NOT discover what my thoughts are! Example: I am legitimately hungry. I sit, without distractions. My plate has NOT been restricted, it contains a very large amount. I sit, hungry, to try to see why I heap my plate full and I'm hopelessly without any idea WHAT I'm thinking. Hunger wins, I eat. Binging wins, I eat it ALL, fast! Which comes first? Less on my plate? Does THAT trigger overeating? I think back and can't tell most of the time what my thoughts are before I eat!

Sometimes it’s more of a feeling, an agitation. Not all of us think in clear constructed sentences, some of us think with our feelings. Perhaps try connecting to the feeling and naming it. Sometimes you won’t know, that’s fine just say what you can about it. Talk out loud to yourself during the experience. Sometimes if you don’t know why you’re doing something, try hard to stop it and watch what your mind/emotions do to try to get you to do it x

Polite comment - study with shakes and ghrelin seems strange. You can't just trick the body about different caloric intake. In a metabolically healthy person, different organs in our digestive track with receptors "can sense" how much nutritionally danse food we ingest. Even low-fat milk vs high-fat milk digest differently. Hormon ghrelin is just a piece in a very large picture in human digestion. Overall, i really appreciate your work and helping us with food struggles.
@TheBingeEatingTherapist

Ghrelin is released in anticipation of how much food we believe we are about to consume. We won’t trick the body long term because you are right. It’s much smarter than that. If you are about to eat the stomach releases ghrelin before you even take a bite. If you are planning to eat a small snack you get a small amount of ghrelin. If you are about to eat a big meal you will get a larger release of ghrelin. It also had a natural circadian cycle so there’s more to it too. Here’s the link to the study so you can see (if you’re interested, not trying to push an agenda) pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21574706/

Thank you, me neither 🙏🏻🙂 In my opinion, this study is more like "cherry picking", not so well designed, showing narrow results and conclusions. Broadwise, taking ghrelin to consideration - if it would be so simple, that we can just mentally trick our body how much food we eat, there will be less obesity and ED. I THINK 🙃 that this kind of "mentally tricking body" mindset can lead to physical hunger and maybe again to mental restriction, because a person falsely assumes that he/she ate too much calories ??? Just my thoughts...

I mean, is there a "wrong" reason to eat?
@mrs.t2329
@mrs.t2329 2 месяца назад
Neither of the reasons why I would have eaten two pieces of cake sit well with me. Neither are "good" reasons. I just "shouldn't" be eating cake (binge food) never mind 2 pieces.
