loved your minecraft vid man, its what got me to check out the rest of your channel, and im loving these icebergs as well; Idk what your plans are for this channel, but exploring nostalgic and/or niche things really seems to be a fit for you! Looking forward to seeing more from you in the future
It also probably doesn't help that Redlyne hasnt busted out all the videos & tiers already, making people believe that pt 3 is the end. But no shame to him, he's doing great. Can't wait to see the rest of the parts
@@fllowerknight Next tiers also have a lot more touchy subject matter within the games, so I've gotta be real careful with wording and how I go about things to not get the video restricted or taken down, still coming though.
Red orchestra 2 actually used to be a ptsd simulator with how disturbing death could be in that game, whether it be death rattles, choking on blood, or soldiers bleeding out and crying for their mothers the worst for me was the flamethrower, not only would the character model writhe on the ground while ingulfed in flames, the VA's did an incredible job with the horrific screaming that the soldiers would emit before dying
you know the best part about your content, is how dang funny you are aswell as giving great long form content, a lot of iceberg videos can end up feeling like someone just reading out a wiki page for you, but with your added funnies it just makes it so much better!
One of the things I realised from this is that media these days have overused the "it was all in my head" twist to the point that it's not cool or shocking anymore
I'm glad that in this series for some of the more "out there" games, you don't overreact like most RU-vidrs would by saying something like "THIS IS APPALLING AND HAS NO RIGHT TO EXIST!" but rather simply saying "These are weird." and leaving it at that.
Yeah, it’s so tragic. I don’t remember if Oneshot is on the iceburg but it has a tribute to him the first time you start up. (iirc? I only saw it once at least.)
@@MewLime i think only the freeware has the references. The steam version with solstice removes most references and homages to avoid copyright/problems with other devs
I know this is a small thing, but i appreciate you not putting in much creepy/unnerving music. Its very common and annoying for these kinds of icebergs, so thanks for not doing it.
@@fllowerknight I'm watching for frightening content but it's so corny when they add music to make it creepier. The games themselves should be creepy enough on their own
this is so fkn true i speak spanish and my roomies dont undrrstand what im watchin but if its got scary ass music in the bg they diss me afterwards lol 😭
I was pretty big into Red Orchestra 2 a few years ago, it's probably on the list because, despite being a multiplayer shooter, it's incredibly tense and atmospheric. All the voice acting is great, with players (their ingame characters, not over mic or something) screaming and begging for their lives when they become suppressed enough by enemy fire, which also affects your vision and aim. The responses are also varied, with the veteran voice scoffing and laughing as he bleeds out, while the inexperienced voice begging for their mother or to Jesus. When suppressed by a machine gun, a squad leader player will offer medals and promotions to whoever takes out the shooter. It really goes far to elevate what's a pretty basic FPS.
yeah red orchestra 2 and rising storm 1 are such good games i play games like battlefield 1 for fhe voicelines and immersion and once i played RO2 it was so much better than what i was expecting.
@@MiniMio what. When I tried the game the only thing that stood out for me is how everyone had the same voice and how flat it was . Was I playing a wrong version or something ?
I don't know why red orchestra 2 is so far down but a reason it might be on the iceberg is due to the death screams and death animations where people found them uncomfortably disturbing with soldiers gargling on blood and crying out for their mother.
i told my older friend that I knew red orchestra existed, and he was quick to ask if i'd ever played, when i said no, he told me good and said exactly that
Im so happy that the rpg Lisa games instead of Lisa The First are starting to get more love, especially the fangames like Lisa: The Pointless, great video.
FINALLY SOME HYLICS RECOGNITION. Hylics 1 and 2 are so insanely cool, Mason Lindroth is one hell of an artist. Also, Chuck Salamone is an incredibly talented composer. They both make some banger shit together.
It took me way too long to realize grapejuice is a euphenism, I really thought for almost 3 entire parts that many of these just happened to be grapefruit themed lmao
Seeing a creepy games iceberg and seeing Hylics this deep is so funny to me. I can see why people can find that game a bit unsettling (stop motion by itself can be red flag for a lot of people), but I personally always loved how this game is able to create this world that feels both alien.... and charming and relaxing. The visuals, music and even the characters sold me on the game as well. Thank you for talking about it btw.
Hylics 1 and 2 are up there as some my favorite games of all time! I personally find it more absurd and surrealist than anything, but I can definitely see how some people can find it freaky…
53:04 The gameplay isn't Saya no Uta, but tbh, not showing the gameplay of that VN is kind of for the best, because DEAR GOD the first few minutes of seeing someone play the game from Fuminori's POV really gave me the chills. And maybe some sleepless nights x-x
Something that someone probably already mentioned about Saya no Uta: it was made by the main writer of Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Dude really seems to like making young kids suffer...
1:21:53 If you've played the Penumbra series and have amnesia, there's not much point in playing Necrologue as you probably won't remember any of the plot :P
an horror game that i recommend you to put on the list is pumpkin eater. It's a visual novel, pretty disturbing, little-known and it's on steam. anyway great vid, love your content
@@ajxx9987 without spoiling anything, a boy gets his head run over, gets a new head (a pumpkin), and his family has to try and deal with it, i recommend you go check out a playthrough of it if you have a strong stomach, or buy it on steam as it's only 2 dollars
There are some really beautiful games on this list. Like the one with the kid wanting to cure his fathers alcoholism. Great art and design. ❤ Love Izzzyzzz channel and videos! 😊
Thought hylics 1/2 were more funny than creepy but thats just me. The characters acknowledge that the world they live in is strange as fuck and everyone just kinda rolls with it. I liked that. Instant subscription 💙
as i write this it is 5:21AM and i have not slept. i have been watching your iceberg videos and thoroughly enjoying them. i will say that in my sleep-deprived state, i wondered if i was hallucinating the music you paired with the sonic dreams collection. made me do a double-take. it was very funny. good job on these! i really enjoy your content and your voice is very calming--perfect for these restless nights.
Love the coverage of this particular iceberg. Definitely adding you to my iceberg creators that I frequently watch! And I'm excited for you to continue
Dude your icebergs are amazing. The only one o I knew here was oxenfree. You forgot to mention how good the music is! I saw you even used it for the game description that came after it. Not sure why it’s in the disturbing iceberg…maybe bc of the not alive moment? I really loved the game. Anyways amazing work. I need to research a lot of these now.
The ju-on wii game is genuinely beloved by so many people ironically enough! It was critically dogged on but is regarded as one of the best horror games on the wii and (IN MY PERSONAL OPINION) One of the best horror games ever made in how it handles pacing and atmosphere. While the game has aged somewhat poorly in terms of controls and graphics, the horror elements still hold up REALLY well. If anyone out there likes J-Horror and is curious about it, PLEASE get a wii emulator set up and give the game a shot its genuinely such a masterclass in atmosphere and tension within horror gaming. So many of the games on this layer were some of my favourite games ever made this was such an incredible video to watch!!
I actually really love Saya no Uta for I thought it was a pretty interesting mystery with cosmic horror themes. It's definitely my favorite horror visual novel...I do wish the developer was a little less...predatory
Finally watching these! Excellent work. I believe Nanashi no Game is coming up on the next tier and late as it is I have a bit of trivia for you regarding the music, nothing spooky but it's a neat tidbit. Although the composer in credits is attributed to the fictional composer (I think), the actual game composer was Masayoshi Soken who'd go on to compose for Final Fantasy XIV. Soken actually slipped the main theme of Nanashi no Game into XIV in the song Siren Song, acting as a call back to Nanashi and potentially cursing everyone who hears it. Thanks Soken.
Really cool videos, a bit sad about the spoilers since i end up discovering a lot of these from the video and don't see a point in playing them knowing what is happening
Pretty good content, sad to know you gonna stop for a while, but I get it why, the chart is HUGE and to put everything together takes lotta time. Anyway, I'm gonna stick arround and wait for the next thing. Until then.
bunker 16 and i see you are probably pretty well known, markiplier played them, in fact he played a lot from the tier at the start. I also started laughing out loud as I realised the mario music box music you chose was a music box of better call saul, thats amazing.
Hey man, I found your channel yesterday night and I'm really enjoying your videos - great production value, excellent content, generally 10/10. I'm excited to see your channel explode in popularity - it's definitely gonna happen!
Really sick iceberg, now we’re getting to the cult classics and a few I’ve never heard from before. I can’t wait for the big iceberg video to come out so I can fully binge it
each time it cuts to the FPS game for 18+ content, i'm staring at it like "this doesn't look like the game he's describing at all!" it gets me every single time
the house in fata morgana and the prequel are amazing, and definitely worth a read if you can handle the subject matter. it's an absolutely tragic story and so so good.
The only reason i've heard of Demonik, is because it was featured in the stoner comedy Grandma's Boy. I was shocked to find out it was an actually planned game, and what a weird for way for it to die as a stoner comedy feature.
So, real question is if you're still up to adding extra bonus entries after changing to Version 3 of the Iceberg? I genuinely would not blame you if you needed to tap out. Anyway, a few bits of commentary to add. * I mainly added Red Orchestra 2 because of the single player, and the enemy death speeches. They literally have whole ass death speeches for random soldiers. * UnderParty is pretty tame as far as ryona games go. After the game's jank ass main story , it becomes a fairly solid 2D beat-em up. But yeah, compared to shit like Demonophobia or DepraviA, this one is fairly tame as far as violence goes. * I suspect that Saya's childlike design was intended to creep the player out, as opposed to the usual fucked up fetish shit, given that Fuminori even remarks that he's uncomfortable with Saya's childlike appearance. There's also less of an emphasis on sex in general compared to a lot of pornographic VNs, and it is common for some VNs to shoehorn H-scenes in just to appeal to a wider audience in Japan. And really, the idea of someone being so isolated that their only option is someone who looks like a child is a really fucked up idea in its own right. Saya no Uta's director, Gen Urobuchi, was also responsible for Madoka Magica, and is nicknamed "Urobutcher" by fans. * We may need to keep a running tally of how many of these games are made by pedos. Thus far, it's more than I expected (and most surprisingly, not in the games some of you expected). Current tally is Sad Satan, Your Boyfriend, Doki Doki Nightmare, Dormitabus, and the lead actor in harvester. Once again, it's impressive how much more I'm learning about these games despite having created the iceberg myself. You are doing a fantastic job on this and I look forward to future content.
I’ll probably add bonus entries in the full final version of the video, plus the new entries in tier 1-4 from the third version. If you’ve got any until then just let me know and I’ll write them down.
@@Redlyne_ Ah good. I've actually been keeping a list of games that other people have either suggested to me, or that I've discovered after creating the final version of the Iceberg. Note that I haven't been actively looking for new entries, these are just ones I happened across for one reason or another. Changed Everhood Lifeweb Lethal Omen living in the ending world Anglerfish Planet Alcatraz Marauder Odeon Jisatsu no Tame no 101 no Houhou For Elise ~Elise no Tame ni~ LISA: The Hopeful Cosmology of Asia (Tier 10) The Ugly Ai to Yuuki to Kashiwa Mochi Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk2 Snoot Game You are Jeff Bezos I should note that the bottom three are ones I've considered for the Iceberg but decided against, though there could be a case for including them. Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk2 in particular isn't a disturbing games, but there are a few specific scenes that almost got the game an AO rating, when every other entry, including the game's remake Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;birth2, have a T rating. Snoot Game, if I put it on the iceberg, would have been colored orange, even though the game's content isn't anywhere near as extreme as shit like Muslim Massacre or ZOG's Nightmare. It's basically a fangame (only in the most technical sense) made by 4chan that takes an upcoming visual novel with a cast of queer characters, that instead is made to mock LGBT people and has every ending end with the LGBT cast deciding it's "just a phase." The game's content itself isn't as directly disturbing, but the idea that someone made a game for the purpose of harassing and mocking the devs of a pro LGBT game, enough so that they completed their fan game before the main game itself came out, well, my gay trans ass obviously does not approve. You Are Jeff Bezos is somewhat similar in that the game's content is absolutely hilarious, but the real world implications are horrifying in that they spell out how disgustingly rich this one person is and how it's literally impossible to spend all his money.
sad satan isnt actually made by a p3d0, its probably someones vent project that ended up in a bad persons hands and he edited it and claimed the illegal version was the og
I used to play Mario and the Music Box (MTMB) a lot when I was dating my ex. Highlights include making one of the characters, a butler, Alfred Pennyworth, and modding the audio since it's really easy to do. I replaced the soundbite for the death screen with Snake dying from Metal Gear Solid. The story is kind of messed up with the rest of the characters but gets ruined every time Mario's goofy proportions show up
Love how you added gran turismo music and sfx. I can tell you have played the series and I absolutely love gran turismo. My favorite being gran tursimo 4! Great video!
I love this deep dive, and look forward to the other tiers. I've seen your other dives as well, and honestly I really enjoy them. You put a lot of effort into these videos, and I often think of this as a archaeological dig of sorts. It's really cool, and really excellent work.
Hi, italian here. Grezzo 2 and the sequel (Grezzodue 2, literally Grezzo2 2) are all about blasphemy (and here in italy a "bestemmia" aka insult against god is like a supermega powerfull swear, even words like "god dishwasher or fucking cheesburger jesus", often said in dialect are a taboo in television) and joking on famouse TV/YT subjects (pop culture in general, like recorded drunklads or angry old eldery man having an argument). For a foreign, Grezzo 2 is a rabbit hole itself, we have so many jokes that you need an entire playlist for counting all of them.
@@Redlyne_ There Is another obscure game made by the same creator of Grezzo2 and Grezzodue 2, it's called Super Botte e Bamba 2 Turbo (Super Beatings and Coke 2 Turbo, no there Is not a 1), it's a fighting game with the same umor of Grezzo2.
You are doing incredible work with these, quite a few that peaked my interest to go check out, and surprised at how many more I already knew about or even played!
Upon looking into Harry Horse, holy crap that is quite disturbing. Not what I was expecting. Especially not given the fairly light hearted horror of the game. I can see why you wouldn't want to bring that up in the video (especially since the story seemed to be misreported and just generally underreported so it would be difficult to quickly explain)
My dark/scary/disturbing game knowledge must be limited because I honestly don't know anymore games that could be on this iceberg. Every single game I could think of was covered at this point. Except maybe... Demonophobia/Xenophobia, which are pretty gross and obscure. I'm sure they'll be in a later tier considering there's a lot more. Looking forward to the next video, whenever that is
Yeah, both of those will be on it, as well as many others. Keep in mind, we aren't even half way through this iceberg, and thus far, this series only covered Version 2 of it.
Right! A lot of people in the comments are saying "wow this is this far down." we are on tier 4 and most of the weird and obscure disturbing games I can think of are already listed. Can't wait to see more
Black Souls, Red Hood's Woods, and soon to be Dead Red Hood are all pretty important, especially being a /v/ darling. Disclaimer if you've never heard of these and want to look them up, they're heavily story driven, with black souls particularly being heavily inspired by Dark Souls, but they *are* loli eroge.
Somehow, my favourite horror (ish?) game is still missing... I won't say what it is until the end of the series since I'm curious whether it will be on there :)
If it isn't on one of the later tiers, be sure to check the final complete version of the iceberg, since it will also include the entries from Version 3 of the iceberg (thus far, this Iceberg was about Version 2, though later tiers will cover V3), and also even more bonus entries.
You've probably already got it written down somewhere, and I'm sorry if you've already covered it. "Horns of Fear" was a lengthy, well done gorepunk horror narrative that has you unravel a large, complex story that concludes with a very simple, and very emotional answer. I believe it was pretty popular (couple big youtubers played it) So I would not be surprised if you've already found it. Love your shit, by the way, always excited to see you working on stuff.
Not gonna spoil myself on the whole iceberg but I'm hopeful that Purrfect Apawcalypse makes it on because that series has some DETAILED deaths, very nice art too.
