That's a common mistake. Tech bros started it (the RU-vid guy uses it wrong in the original video,) and stupid people imitating them have been using "agnostic" to mean "neutral" for a while now.
@@PenguinWithInternetAccess My guess is that it was first used in a tech context in some way that made a little more sense, like that there are things you can't know about your end-users' PCs and what else might be running on them. But because tech is a business and business is full of con artists who just imitate any buzzwords that seem popular, a lot of business majors started thinking it meant "neutral."

One thing i absolutely do not understand is why he compares himself to pranks/stunts youtubers : this isn't his category of content at all, if we compare him to a lot of other gaming youtubers the reasons he doesn't hit the algorithm are painfully obvious
He thinks those kind of videos are most popular of all the videos that are uploaded to youtube which of course is wrong but popular is something he wants to be.
First of all, DSP dunking on VidIQ for “not making it into the algorithm” is rich. That is a nearly 2 million sub channel that gets almost 10 times the monthly views that DSP gets. Secondly, DSP absolutely refuses to listen to what VidIQ and other RU-vid advice channels say because they refute all of his most common excuses. The algorithm only really feeds you content based on what you have recently watched and searched for, and it doesn’t automatically feed you just the most viral videos on the subject. I have seen Lets Play videos with 9 views pop up in my feed before because they were playing a game I recently watched a video on. Finally, DSP really needs to look up words before incorporating them into his everyday vocabulary. He said agnostic like 3 times in this video and never once was it used to describe someone who neither believes or denies the existence of higher powers.
Philburt loves to use big words and think he look smart when he uses them but he really has zero clue what they mean. Like he uses thus thinking it means this.
In the context of computer algorithms, "agnostic" basically means "dirsregard." My word processor ignores the weather; it is "weather-agnostic." As it should be, of course. DSP is an ignoramus with crap opinions, and I suspect he believes "agnostic" means "antagonistic." He interprets the fact everyone hates him to mean people are antagonistic to one another, and in this clip says "people are agnostic to one another."
@@JohnWilliamNowak I’m also 99% sure “antagonistic” was the word he actually meant because it’s the only one that kinda makes sense. I sincerely doubt he even knows what agnostic means in the realm of computer science, or even what it means in general.
16:40 I hated this feature on mobile, so I've got it turned off. On PC it's good, cause you actually have to hover your cursor over the videos to preview them, but on mobile they'd just start the preview as soon as the video was visible on your screen, so you could never take a good look at video thumbnails.

Hey Atlus I've been watching for a while and decided to watch your first videos and I gotta say something. In less than a year you've improved your hobby more than this putz has managed to improve his 'buisness' in a decade and a half.
I've said this before on Doody's: DSP brands his content as "pahwsitive, chill and drama-free", and that's completely deceiving. Meanwhile, detractor content usually provides exactly what it says on the very title. Of course the algorithm and audience response is going to favor the most consistently straightforward, honest and on-point content over something that only provides bizarre levels of delusion, wishful thinking and lack of self-awareness.
It's amazing that Phil is so bitter, he's had it better than 99% of people who've attempted to be content creators. He's made a living off this platform for a decade and a half, and that's more than most people could ever hope for. The fact that he makes a living off this still, just proves he's one of the luckiest mf on RU-vid and lives one of the easiest lives that's ever been lived in human history.
So what Phil is really saying is because his videos don’t show on the front page then the algorithm is bogus. You’d think The Guy who always says he has a niche audience would understand why he doesn’t gain traction ever. And it really irks me when Phil disagrees with someone and just has to go the extra mile to be a toxic POS. Absolutely no reason to call that programmer a dunce and a moron and all these other things.

RU-vid already does that in other ways. There are certain topics you are not permitted to have certain opinons on because the video is then disallowed on the platform or demonitised. The whole video can be demonised based on that. We also have the demonitision based on topics or even words in the video or thumbnail. IIRC, it also buries certain videos or channels too, purely based on sucject matter or the youtuber's opinon. I have no idea what an "agnostic" algorithm is (all I know is the term for not believeing in higher powers but still being open to the possibility), but it seems to be working great.

The most frustrating thing about Phil is that, even if he has a point on things like the RU-vid algorithm, all his points fall flat because he always makes it about himself. He always acts so envious of other people's success and pretends to act empathetic to try to hide it, but he couldn't be more transparent even if he could actually turn invisible.
I get nothing but wholesome, informative and interesting videos in my homepage. Quite literally you are what you watch. The algo feeds you more of what you engage with, so DSP gets nothing but 'toxic' detractors. Thought you didn't care about drama DSP?

I just thought I would say @Atlus the Bookkeeper - You hit on something with the longer videos. Because your videos are typically over that 10-15 minute length and what I am usually doing while listening/watching to your videos is work. So I put them on and just let them aimlessly run because first I respect the creator and want them to get the bag and second because usually if I skip through it, I might miss something. With DSP, there is neither respect nor anything to miss.

DSP could definitely make the mute video preview thing work for him, he just needs to put a short highlight reel of the segment at the front. Quick note of a timestamp the most exciting bit (I know I know) when he's streaming and then as he's uploading and editing after the stream he can go to the time stamp he noted, and cut copy paste that part to the front. He likes being on camera, he can do a sentence or 2 after the highlight introducing the segment and it would feed his ego a little bit.

This has the same energy as when he watched a video about rollback netcode and heard "It guesses what you're going to do next" and took that to mean it's some sort of learning AI that favors spamming. The Guy (TM) always misinterprets one statement and doesn't absorb any other information beyond that.
In regards to that first comment at the end. Yes, it is as easy as just letting it update when you shut your computer down for the night. The issue? DSP never shuts down his electronics. He just puts them in sleep mode, unless you're that first Switch he had where he disabled sleep mode and left it on all night on the dock.
As always, the only things he'll agree with are things he "can't" do anything about. Anything to remain a helpless victim of circumstance who can do nothing to improve his situation.
I am not here to defend Phil. God no. But the guy who describes the algorithm is actually lying. RU-vid promotes quantity over quality. That is why Animators struggle for decades on RU-vid. Because it's hard to make an animation once per month. Let alone once per week. That is why those storytime animation content farms are so overbearing. Also the quality of the video itself is not important as long as you pump out garbage. it actually is to the point it makes my blood boil to hear Dave complain about people stepping on others to get ahead when he's having jealous rants all the time, or when he brings up positivity when he insults people on a daily basis because he's that miserable edit : like in this very situation he talks about positivity while being a pos to the people in the video, if youtube worked like he wanted he shouldn't be recommended to anyone (good thing his laziness and toxicity already does that)
1:25 You don't necessarily have to disregard that he was in Twitch to say he was on making a living on RU-vid for 16 years. He may have focused on Twitch those few years, but he technically never left RU-vid. He was only using it to archive his videos, but nonetheless, he was still technically using it so, there you go. I'm pretty sure he complained about ad revenue every so often those years even though he also said ad revenue wasn't a lot.

I get recommended Phils videos all the time because I watch detractor content. How does that work Phil? Its almost like the algorithm can sense I am interested in Dsp content and therefore it shows me Dsp content without discrimination.

Such a big man on the internet but hides in a bathroom when the people he insults try to confront him in person. Also, I get tons of recommendations for small (under 100 subscriber) channels literally every day. The reason his stuff doesn't show up is because it's low-effort garbage, and RU-vid recognizes that.
