Thank you so much! I’m really here to provide useable knowledge based information gained from 10 years of being in the field and getting a degree in interior design. There is allot science involved. Also, I’m not constantly pushing sales or my style on everyone. We discuss many styles and a ton of design issues other than whether something is personally pretty or not. Thanks for your lovely comment and support. My subscribers are the biggest part of this channel.😊😊😊

I know this might be another place to look for beautiful vintage art. I was at a rummage/estate sale. They had this gorgeous large oil painting (1930 ?)of a field of poppies, framed in gold gerogian style. No one seemed to be interested, the more I looked the more I wanted it, but out of my price range.. At the end of the sale it was still there. The person in charge said everything has to go...I got it for $20.00! The frame alone was worth 10x that. It now proudly hangs in my large entryway Ive gotten many compliments on its beauty. So you never know, keep looking😊

Garrett, do you see comments that get posted to your older videos? I hope so because I want to thank you for your advice about hanging art. I'm an artist, and my home is typically filled with my art. This art rotates in and out based on what is showing in a gallery. Instead of constantly having to change wall picture hangers, I've put them in alignment with the tops of my doors. This has made it so easy to simply remove one painting and put another in its place (most of my art is large). Even better than the ease is the aesthetic. Rooms look better because the art is aligned. Thank you.

Yes, I have a window in my house that is a "what were they thinking" window. It's a small, single window, smashed all the way into a corner. That's the only window in the terribly dark room and that window faces the north which is also shaded by a neighbor's huge house. It's a dungeon! No matter what I try, it's just so dark in there.

In Texas we don’t always have beautiful casings all around the windows. Do we do Roman shades on the outside of window and if so, how much passed the edge.

Every situation is different. I’d have to see the windows at least to give an intelligent opinion. I’m glad to do a short virtual consultation with you before you decide on anything and spend money. intro.co/garrettlechic

I absolutely appreciate and connect with your advice about the importance of lighting! I belong to a canasta group. The four other homes have abysmal lighting! In every case, the living room is adjacent to the dining room table where we play. These hosts keep the living room area totally dark. In all four cases, there is one chandelier over the table, and that is our *only* light. So depressing. In my living room, I have a chandelier centered above the coffee table and hung low enough to appreciate, but not so low that it obstructs your view of the fireplace. Also, table lamps on the two end tables flanking the sofa, recessed lighting in the ceiling, and a floor lamp adjacent to one of the armchairs. Those lights are *all* turned on when we play.

Good Morning Garrett, Thank you for such a beautiful vlog. The whole drama starts because the builders don’t work with interior designers. I guess it should be mandatory😬🙆‍♀️ The art of lighting and the placement of paintings does really change the whole outlook of a room. Thanks to you always for introducing that to me so softly and sensibly. Its a pleasure to watch you on an easy Sunday morning after a hectic week:) Have a wonderful Sunday. Hear you soon…xx PS : I might be late in watching because of the busyness of life in general but never away from thoughts and my reminders 🙃

*Lighting, Scale/Balance, Cohesive Palette* . Layered lighting is an absolute "must have" for me. A soft glow in the evening is divine. I use a salt lamp on the bottom shelf of my sofa table to cast a glow onto the entry way floor, it's always on. I use "Christmas type" electric candle sticks with nite light bulbs to back light shelves on the bookcases flanking my tv console and always have a lamp/ vignette styled on the kitchen counter next to the fridge to fill that awkward corner. I see scale issues in a lot of homes. I've come to embrace larger albeit fewer proportionally correct scaled items over visual clutter with "smalls". In my semi-open-concept living areas, I fully embrace the cohesive color/pattern references starting with 60-30-10. My spaces; entry, LR, DR, Kitchen all feel connected since I started styling this way. I know you've done past videos on this, would be great to see another or maybe how to create a "whole house" color palette.

Your Amazon store front has incredible Roman blinds. Now comes the fun of "thinking like an artist" and deciding between the off white shades like Birch. The more I listen to you the more I realize how fortunate we are to receive these videos as your gift to us. Today I've learned about art placement, lighting as a part of the whole, and how to balance clunky corners! You are as much jewelry for house design as you are a great teacher. Thank you so much Garrett!

I’m having a dilemma about wanting a bakers rack for my kitchen , the only place for it would be a half wall it wouldn’t interrupt the kitchen entrance but it would cause a situation of slightly having to walk around it when coming in from the beautiful outside kitchen door I had installed
