The Binding Tool Explained - Learn The Perfect Binding Technique

I have had this tool for about 5 years and never mastered it (it has been in the bottom drawer). I used it today and my binding fits perfectly. I am over joyed at how nice my binding looks. Thank you Jenny! I've always tried to do the binding connection without a tool (which took me about 10 tries before I could figure it out, but when I saw this video, I got the binding tool and can now do the bindings very quickly and on the 1st try!!

Thanks for all your efforts in helping quilters for free. I have watched this particular video several times but still couldn't figure how to use this tool. Today I had an idea to watch the video but with my iPad upside down. Then it was like watching over your shoulder and I was looking in the same direction as I would be using the tool and finally I GOT IT!

Wow! It worked perfectly. I did have to take my tablet to the cutting mat and turn my work and the tablet while watching the video so that everything was in the same orientation as Jenny to ensure I had everything aligned correctly before I cut but I got it first. Just discovered Missouri Star. What a fabulous site! Instructions are well presented and the videos are extremely helpful. It answered so many questions for me.

I bought this ruler a few weeks ago and just had the first opportunity to use it today, WOW, what a great helper. It takes all the guess work out of it for you. I started quilting a little over a year ago and I am on about quilt #11 now. Almost everything I have learned has been from watching your tutorials. I'm now doing a king size quilt 110' x 110'. I've think found my new hobby :-)... Thanks for being such a great teacher and so willing to share your knowledge.

The tutorial is TOTALLY different than the instructions printed on the tool!!!! Tutorial explains it perfectly! Instructions on the tool would have me cutting the binding about 10 inches too short!!! Thank you for explaining how it is actually used.

I have been binding challenged since I started seriously quilting about six years ago. I bought this tool and others several years ago and had success with it about 20% of the time. I just bought the tool yesterday after struggling with binding. This was a great video.

I know this is an old video but I bought the tool, made my binding and it worked. I just had a little bit too much slack and I accidentally twisted one side of the binding (a common thing for me). I basted the ends together before sewing on the machine and that worked great for me. Thank you so much for this video. I've always had a problem with this one step in the binding process.

I was cutting my right tail at the marking line, same as left side. Mine always was a couple of inches too long, like you pointed out. So I lined the line up with the little flat edge instead. Voilà! Perfect! Thank you so much.

I found the tool works perfectly for 2 1/4" binding as well as 2 1/2. You just position the tool with the little notch part on the edge of the fabric. I love this tool. I struggled and struggled with joining the binding and now it's perfect every time. I have to watch the tutorial each time however, as I forget between quilts how to use the tool. Guess age is something the tool can't fix. :)

Hi. Had to watch the video five or six times to get it - and I did. Part of the issue for me is that you are working exactly upside down to how our material and binding is laying. But it is a wonderful tool.
