I think phoenix is super fine. You have a lot of removal for slickshot Just wait for them to go all out and punish with fiery impulse. You can also side in more removal. As for the skewers and lightnings, you have cheap counter magic if you want to fight back. Phoenix seems to be well suited against this.

@@penjanut6857 idk I was losing to burn with phoenix before slickshot and now it seems harder with no way to gain life. We don’t have that many cheap counters and holding up mana slows us down alot

Spell Pierce, 1 mana kill spells, ledger triggering… a lot, Phoenix to keep chumping. And a couple “board” wipes in the side. Yes it very much does, just got to pilot it right. I would guess play/draw will more or less decide this match up most of the time. Just a tip. Pay attention to when there is a flipped kumano on the board when blocking with a Phoenix.

deflecting palm doesn't actually get played enough that i don't really see it being a concern. Maybe if this deck really does explode WRx decks might look into playing it just as an to the burst damage from slickshot but even then you can still just go wide with the deck i don't see it being as good enough of a counter to this deck. Eidolon on the otherhand could be a concern

The only deck that would play palm would be a boros burn deck. Just because palm could be good value for a card against slick shot doesn’t mean it will help. If your deck isn’t an aggressive deck trying to kill them it doesn’t really help you to palm them for 9. Modern is a perfect example. Big murktide regents are or were everywhere but not every deck with WR played palm, Only the Boros burn deck played it. Because it helps there game plan as well as hurts the slick shot deck.

And also eidolon are generally in aggressive decks. Usually when aggro meets Aggro eidolon is a card you cut in mono red. Maybe on the play you keep it.
