Puckett, this video made me teary! Yes, I'm a girl. I've loved the idea of cbg's and previously watched your videos but today was different. I felt a stirring in my spirit. I think the Lord has a future that involves the glorious sound and frame of those sweet guitars. Maybe a jigsaw piece of the puzzle of His plan for me. Thank you for sharing this.
you prolly dont give a shit but does anybody know a method to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost the password. I love any assistance you can give me!
@Denver Moises thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Hey, that stick was free ranging in the universe! No better destiny than to wind up in that phenomenal-sounding guitar! Appreciate the build insights and tips! !!!
No matter how bad a day has gone Del Puckett uploads a video and turns it into a great day!!!! And I watched it to the very end, I am Awesome (right?) Your musical demos at the end put a big smile on my face! (I did have to laugh at the procurement of the "abandoned" stick for the neck!)
Thanks a lot for your tutorials! Your videos are really usefully for a beginners. I'm from Russia and here almost nobody knows about same guitars so when I wanted to make one I didn't had any information. But now I watching your channel and I hope my guitar will be done! Sorry my English :)
A shiny Romeo box was my second CBG ever made, it's a great box but very heavy, I would love to find more of them. Wish I could send you a picture of it seeing how well it came out. I play it almost every day. Keep up the great work and videos King 👑 Puckett
thanks for taking all the intimidation out of it! I haven't finished the Master Series yet, but so far my favorite part was watching all the different tools you could use to make the neck! very funny, you drove the point home it doesn't matter what you use to get there as long as you get there
That is wonderful, I never knew cigar boxes could make such good sound, I live in spain and we have some serious cigars over here so Im off to the cigar shop and ask for some boxes and have a go making one, I cant play, I can cut wood perfectly as I am a carpenter but my daughter plays a spanish guitar and electric so will be able to tune it and play it for me. I just love the sound it makes. Thanks for the video. Serious music.
This one looks cool but sounds amazing! Even dry acoustic sounds clear as a bell. Really enjoyed seeing the whole process in one sitting. And nice to see you talk about layout considerations. Don't remember you covering that before. Thanks for sharing!
@@julianwolfe2517 I don't know how else to describe it, you have to get creative when describing something as abstract as sound. Our language just isn't equipped to put such a thing into writing.
Del, you do a wonderful rendering of Johan Sebastian Bach at times! ...😀..😀...! I often notice it in your fingering! (A Hammond B3 drawbar Organist)....😉...😉...!
Make some cauls to use instead of the ruler. Wrap then with shipping tape and glue won't stick to them. You could even use the yardsticks but the shipping tape is key.
Great stuff, Del. After binge watching your channel over the past couple of days I have a question. Is there significance to the reason why in some builds you leave the 2 or so inches sticking out of the end of the CB and on others you don't? And thanks for putting up some great content!
`maybe you could figure out a way to make a one string bass like the bluegrass type of washtub bass, but in the style of the cigar box or maybe a paint can.
I personally prefer the longer videos! Do you level crown and polish your frets? I've never seen you do it and your gittys always seem to play perfectly.
Love your builds. I started a CBG a while back. Everytime I watch a build video I change some of me design. I may have to stop watching videos for a while so I can finish it. 😁 Keep up the good work Del.
This video has answered so many of my questions. Thank you so much. Whats that little rift you do at 18:40? I want to know how you do that as it sounds great
Excellent video as always. You are the best as far as I am concerned about helping others perfect the technique of building CBG instruments. The first thing I learned a few years ago from you was how to build that little bridge with the fret wire installed in the top of a piece of wood. I still think those things are one of the best bridges a person can use on one of these instruments and keep them looking like some to the originals. What is the best size piezo that you recommend for a build like this?
By the looks of it, You need a large hotgun, those small craft store/dollar store one, well the glue doesn't stay hot long enough to be able to do much with them, I've used the large ones years ago and the glue gets a lot hotter to melt the larger bore diameter.
Very cool build I'm a disabled veteran and I lost the use of my hands several years back it was wondering if you would be interested in making me a guitar electric cigar box Guitar if not it's okay I still enjoyed reading and watching your videos keep up the good work very enjoyable
Great informative vid. Can anyone tell me what the tuning was please. I rely on the subtitles and they didn't pick that important bit up. Most other vid's don't even mention the strings or the tuning.
I've built a couple myself but i kinda winged it... they could have been better... I for some reason thought a 4 string would be better... what's your opinion? I also have had issues with buzzzzzz or hummmm. Got any suggestions to prevent that. Thanks for your step by step video.
I know this is an older video but I am catching up. LOL How does one go about ordering a cigar box guitar from you ??? I am interested in purchasing one of at all possible.
Question for Del or anyone else watching: I just tried to glue a grommet to cover a sound hole with super glue and it didn't work out. Maybe I didn't have a good surface connection. Is there a preferred glue to use?
Del, I've been cutting and smoothing my frets before I insert them because grinding them on the fret board scratches the paint and wood. I saw what you did but do you have to go back and fix the paint? Great vid though.
