My eight year old daughter is so captivated by your music and is now asking to learn how to play the mandolin. It’s so sweet listening to her hum along to your beautiful vocals! Thank you.
Andy… he sure inspired a whole new generation of musicians, didn’t he? So grateful for that man, and all the members of Planxty, and of course… Paul Brady ❤️
Beautifully done in every way. The dynamics of the performance build perfectly, and the glance at the camera at about 2:24 carries the weight of every woman scorned since the world began- Hell truly hath no fury like that… Can’t figure out why I am only now finding this amazing musician- I’ve been seeking out trad Celtic music for some years now, with a particular emphasis on Irish Bouzouki and mandolin material, and I would have thought the algorithm should have long since hooked me up with a body of work like this.
In the folk music tradition, it’s not a “cover” unless you are trying to channel someone else’s sound. That’s not what is happening here. This an original skillful performance that comes straight from the heart. Beautiful. Another memorable rendition is on the album “Now and Then” by the American folk quartet Trapezoid (yes, the name is a play on The Pentangle) from the late 70s. Give it a try.
Beautiful woman, beautiful music, beautiful ages to live...Edit : for anyone wondering what style of music and more I open my playlist folk middle ages songs & dances of middle ages , yes dances
I play mandolin, and you have really inspired me to practice and work a lot harder. I aspire to play like you and one day i will try and learn this beautiful song. Thank you 🏵️💚
This is great! I saw Andy Irvine a few years ago. I think it might have been the last time he was in the United States. He played this tune. It was amazing! Your version is awesome as well!
Much respect for this cover. My only regret is there couldn't be an Uilleann pipe providing the final melody. But one can only wish. Thanks so much for this cover!
Cheers my friend! My dad taught me a great trick for this. Slow down the passage that you’re trying to sing over and then start by just trying to hum the part you want to sing in your head without stopping your guitar accompaniment. Once you can do that, you try humming it out loud without stopping, and THEN try singing it… I’ve never found a passage this didn’t work on ❤️
You are a beautiful, magical, being of the old world..love this music you are introducing to people who’ve never heard it before! You are a master player and vocalist! Please come to America and tour!❤

Superb technique on playing and on vocals. Watching this after your name came up on a Reddit thread as a great example of playing OM and singing. Was not disappointed.
Wow. I have watched many of your shorts, but they have all been instumental. First time hearing you sing and OH MY GOODNESS! Such a beautiful voice. I am very inpressed--but not surprised.👏
I found a little mystery in this clip. In time 2:45 I can still cleary hear a flute. I don´t now if is it kind of phantom sound from high volume sounds and all floting echoes, or is a singing some ancient celtic spirit. Maybe is this song already magical. 🙂
