The Blade 230S Still Holds Up 7 Years Later

I bought this model used for $15, but it needed some major TLC. The electronics are all v1 components, but I updated to the v2 frame, tail prop, & main gear as well as replacing the whole head assembly, main shaft, links & boom. I replaced most of the hardware with Allen screws & gave it a fresh and much needed tune-up. I misspoke and said all three servos are 3055's, what I meant to say was two of them are 3055's, one is an original 3050.

I have been flying rc helis since 2013. Have a soft spot for Blade, since I started with their products. Taught myself to fly a heli using their Nano QX. Then got a blade 120 SR and from that went to a Blade 450 X. Then a Trex 600, Goblin 500, Gaui X3, etc. About two years ago I bought a used Blade 230s v1 that was damaged and missing the flt controller. I updated it to the v2 flt controller. I honestly did not expect it to fly as well as it does. I have a largish back yard that is perfect for this heli and it gets flown frequently. For slow 3d it does great imo. And loooong flight times. Bought a second one and am currently building it into a Microheli scale Hughes 300 fuselage with the microheli 3-bladed main rotor setup. I think the Blade 230s is a great little heli. Really like mine.

I would say that the first gen blade 230s is actually a whole lot better than the new smart blade 230s. The flight controller seems to have that tail locked way better than the new version. I have the new version and I hate it.

I just bought the screws from Protek, I didn’t buy a kit or anything. This heli only uses like 3 different sized screws anyway.

Mine 230s go all time right the tail why? Nice flight needs to making trim flight? Nice flight too😀

You can try a trim flight, if that doesn’t work you may need to make sure your gain is turned up, the manual explains on how to access those parameters

I feel it's a bit underpowered honestly once I got some other Heli's and got more comfortable and experienced. Good for sport flying and light 3d type stuff.
