I'm still flying one. Bought it new back in the day. 40 flights in a servo died in a hover. It sat for 6 years with all new parts on a shelf. Just rebuilt it with the newer Spektrum servos and I miss it. Perfect for backyards. Not too big not too small. Like your videos...
I’ve said the same thing about their “Vintage” X line of heli’s. The 700x was unreal and a legit piece of machinery, but apparently it didn’t make sense for Blade/Horizon to keep producing the ‘X’ line because they didn’t sell as well as their competition, if that answers your question in the video some. Which is odd to me. The X platform was pretty great. Just sucks that any new releases on the helicopter line of things only last 1-2 years before being shut down, along with their parts support.
i like that size. Very portalble I think. They should have something in between the 230 and 330 series. My two favorite right now are the Fusion 180 and the Blade 330 s.
Nice flying! For me it's hard to get into a blade heli because parts seem to be a challenge and they discontinue them rather quickly. However if it wasn't for the reasonable prices and beginner friendly packages, there would be alot less people in the hobby. 🚁💨
Yep. Their new releases only seem to have 2 year or a little longer lifespan before being discontinued, then the model becomes obsolete within 5 years with low parts availability. That’s my only gripe against Horizon.
I’ve had mine for a long time and I couldn’t get it to fly, it’s not that I can’t fly helicopters because I’ve been flying them for years.I returned it to my Hobby shop which is a really good shop that repairs anything, they were back and forth with Horizon Hobby and blade but to no prevail. I paid $500 for this paperweight and really was disgusted, I couldn’t even tone it down so I could sport fly it that beast x to most people aren’t liked what you said, never been flown really and the canopy is cracked from taking it off and on so many times.After the Hobby shop had it for 6 months I took it back and look at it as a $500 waste of money. It happens whatever.
I hate to hear that, my local hobby shop owner would say that heli has “gremlins” lol. I have had pretty good luck with BeastX, but it is not my favorite and I do not buy them for my kits, I actually like the 6250HX. Why couldn’t you tone it down? The Castle Link let’s you access all of the ESC’s parameters if you wanted to lower RPM’s? If you ever want to fix it up, it’s worth it. Throw a Spektrum 6250 on it, I have really enjoyed using that FC.
I never fly it with the canopy because that is one part you are NOT going to find easily. As far as parts you mentioned...I noticed you can get all the parts you would need to rebuild after a crash but it would be a pain and you'd need to search 4 or 5 places online to piece it together. It's the perfect mini. I have the 180 size and 450 for the yard but this one is the perfect blend of not too small and still feels like a proper power 450 model.
I found a mint condition 360 CFX that was owned by a gentleman who flew it 3-4 times, and never again. I purchased it from him and it should be here tomorrow. Super excited to get the 270’s time-accurate big brother.
Manage to pick one of these up on trade me here in New Zealand last year still haven’t flown it yet after seeing you fly this it makes me want to get out and have a fly I paid $100 to have the beast x unlocked so you you have the extra flight modes great video of another good rc helicopter
I'm working on getting mine back into the air. Never really flown it like it should be. I slammed it into the ground once and cost me dearly. I'll probably get a 480 if parts get too scarce.
still hav mine ,last time i flew it it made a load of noise, when i landed it i had put one blade on the wrong way round lol . still flew great hel;i i use a 360 canopy so i can use other lipos and cheaper blades those are expensive and there are lots of parts for these
I just boght a 270cfx the other day, this thing rips! I'm pretty new to the Heli world but know 5" fpv quads well. I didn't know much about this thing but it seemed to have all the upgrades and the guy wanted $100...in the box, only damage I could find was the tips of the tail rotors were ground down a tad. Do you know if it's worth upgrading the firmware on the ar7210blx gyro/receiver? And can you unlock any of the features that are locked without paying money?....Also just picked up the 300cfx which oddly as it sounds is a little smaller than the 270, also has shorter main blades. Microheli seems to have most parts for both of those and ebay
The 270 is a great heli, just be mindful that they do not make some of the parts for it anymore. I certainly would not spend any money on the AR7210, it will not be worth it. If you wanted to upgrade flight controllers and still stick with Spektrum, pick up a Spektrum 6250, they are much better controllers and have SAFE built in for free. I also have a 300CFX, those are also far discontinued and have very little parts so be careful. The sizing standard of helis changed awhile back, the old way of sizing helis was to size them based of the their motor, for example, a “450” heli actually swung 325mm blades, but the motor was a 450-size. Now helis are sized off of their blade length in mm. The 270CFX swings 270mm blades. The 300 which is older actually swings 250mm blades I believe. Anything newer will be size based off of blade length other than a few exceptions, for whatever reason Align has a couple helis they still size the old way.
I wish horizon would pick a platform and keep it for longer than 5 years. I suppose now that the flybarless systems are common, there's no need to discontinue so often. I'm thinking about picking up the futon 360. My only concern is, how long will parts be produced?
The Fusion 360 platform is good, and they have carried some parts over for the last few 360 generations so maybe awhile, but I’m not sure man. If I were you, I would highly recommend picking up a T-Rex 470LM super combo kit. Align is much better with long-time parts support and the 470LM is not only a little bigger but a FAR superior heli. They are on sale right now for $500 on heli direct. Even the 470LP Super Combo is on sale for $388 right now, I would most definitely consider at least the 470LP over the Fusion.
We got a lot of up and coming manufacturers that are really taking blade by storm. Besides well established companies like mikado, SAB, and Align. You now have OMP hobby and this new one, goosky on the scene and they making helicopters that are really starting to kick Blade's butt honestly. And I mean Blade has started to catch on to this direct drive craze with the infusion 180. But it's not enough, especially where the infusion 180 kinda sucks right from the factory. I mean plastic rotor head parts? C'mon horizon hobby, you're getting your butts kicked here, and cheap plastic parts is the BEST you can do?!?!? Goosky, OMP hobby, even major brands like Align and SAB are using precision metal parts in these new direct drive helis. And they do fly incredibly precise, it's seriously just insane. They really are taking Blade by storm and it seems like Horizon Hobby just doesn't care anymore. They really needa start competing hard or they might face going under TBH. Ah who am I kidding, they're making all of their revenue off of airplanes right? It's FREAKIN' AIRPLANES (boring). No one who buys from them cares about their helis anymore right? It also explains why their heli gyro technology hasn't really gotten any MUCH NEEDED attention, all their new helicopters have tail wag or some kinda nose diving bug. Cus they simply refuse to update any of their flight controllers or when they do it's marginal, but there's still tail wag. Once more, c'mon horizon hobby, pick up the slack. Ugh.
Yeah man unfortunately it seems Blade doesn’t mean very much to them anymore. Blade has so much potential but it definitely seems they are not putting much effort into the brand anymore like they use to. Their product line is so weak and their prices are creeping up and taking the value out of the brand which is what it was known for. Align’s value is one of the best right now, they make amazing products with amazing product support for really competitive prices. I just bought a T-Rex 470LM super combo and man, what a great heli for the money. I will say that I still like the Spektrum 6250. If you set that controller up yourself, it is actually amazing imo. The fact I can do everything from my transmitter is super nice, I like the way the 6250 flies over BeastX. I’m not saying the 6250 is the best, but I actually like it. I haven’t bought anything from goosky or OMP yet, I’m not a huge fan of mini helis but they look like great products. My sweet spot is 380 and up. Thanks for the comment man. @@mangzrc I have an M1 and an M2. The M2 is definitely my favorite. It's just so locked in and solid. And the tail performance. Just wow, for a a direct drive fixed pitch tail it absolutely performs really well, it holds just as good as any well tuned servo controlled tail. I have a Blade 150S which I actually crashed a few times. It really just needs a new gear but I am planning on upgrading it with a metal swash and rotor head anyway, once I can afford it that is. The biggest bird I own though is a Blade 230S, which I hate, because it has this weird bug in normal mode where it just wants to nose dive. It should be mentioned that it is the new smart version and that the older versions of that helicopter actually don't have this problem.
@@mangzrc Also I think I know why Blade's product line isn't very good anymore. When it was good, they were overseen by Eflite. It's Eflite who had and STILL has the really strong product line. So once Blade split off I think they may have cut way back. I really think with Eflite's oversight they really insisted on having a much stronger product line. I mean you noticed the logo change right? That only really happens when there is a drastic internal change within the company. I also think FAA rules may have caused some pressure as well.
