I get you mentioning not rushing Shaedon back but I would argue that shaedons 3rd year progression is a lot more important than scoots 2nd year, plus Shaedon makes a lot more sense in that lineup than scoot and ant playing together, skill wise and size.
I would probably agree. The lists were a mix of my personal opinions, and what I realistically expect from the team. I'd love to see Ant and Shae start night 1, and hopefully Scoot becomes so good he has to start
Dani Advjia is in all your line ups. I like your defensive team that line up would be fun to watch shutting down a team. I hope Chauncy Billups coaches good this year. If Ayden isn't playing well cut his minutes. Play Duop Reath , my boy can shoot threes, and Clingan.😅l😅
The question is why blazers should be competetive this year. Maybe tunking with a chance to get Flagg as first pick will fit better. The problem is that Ayton is untradable and i doubt if any ream will consider taking him whitrout gerttng picks . Grant has a heavy contract.
If this team isn’t playing off Sharpe and Scoot they will stagnate on ISO offense. Simons and Grant both need traded or told they are playing off the future stars on this team. This team could win now if they did play off Shae and Scoot. Let them learn on the fly and fly they can! RIP city. They probably will put the lineup you suggested so they can tank for Flagg. They should start Sharpe, Scoot, Clingan, Ayton and Grant, but Grant needs to play D not ISO ball while playing off Shae and Scoot. Sharpe #1 option, enough of allowing him to regress.
I think a really interesting lineup the Blazers could run could be the best passing/ball handling lineup with Scoot, Banton, Avdija, Grant and Clingan. Also curious on your thoughts on Matisse, I noticed you didn't mention him anywhere on this list. I do like Avdija better as a starter but Matisse is probably a better defender. Any reason you didn't use him in the defensive lineup?
I like Matisse, and obviously is probably one of the better defenders in a vacuum. While he has nice steal numbers, he takes risks when attempting them. And that often results in an open shot, or a 4 on 5 coverage if he does't get the steal/ block he was going for. Could prob make a case for him being on the best defenders team instead of Shaedon or Deni but I don't see Matisse starting at PG or SF in that case.
@@pnwdevv Yeah the only way the lineup makes sense is moving Camara to SF and Matisse to SG. I do enjoy guys like Matisse who are good individual defenders but poor team defenders. Always felt Covington was the same way. I get why you would leave him out in that regard though. I think the best defensive lineup is really when Matisse shines. His missed steal attempts are felt as much with other good defenders out there. He is a ton of fun to watch with the chaos he causes then the next play he gives up a wide open layup 😂
Deni is better as a defender (Defence isn't just blocks and steals, and Deni understands this). Any advance stats shows it, and he was in one of the worst defence team in history, meaning he covered others and still has better stats (it's ruined his stats).
There is way to many holes in this roster to even pick best lineups. Scoot has proven absolutely nothing. Sharpe can't stay healthy and doesn't seem engaged in too many games when he is healthy and Simons only does one thing...scores, when he can't do that he provides nothing. They have some good solid reliable pieces one of which I hope they trade along with Simon's and that's Grant. Deni, Ayton, Williams if he can stay healthy, Walker, Camara, that really is about it. Thybulle doesn't do enough on offense, Rupert is very skilled and should eventually be a solid player that they can rely on. Minaya is a mixed bag. He has the hustle but will he be able to make shots consistently and do enough to get minutes. Murray misses wayyyyy too many open shots, plays fairly good defense and finishes pretty good at the cup. Duop, does a lot of things fairly well but nothing that is reliable on a nightly basis. McGowens could be a good addition but there is a reason Charlotte let him walk. Clingan will have to adjust to the real NBA, SL is not it. He seems to have good instincts and a good bbiq and plays well on the defensive end, his offensive game though needs a lot of work. When you take a look at the West many teams that were average to good last year have gotten better and the top teams are still very strong. The Blazers roster as it stands will have a shot at Cooper Flagg in the 2025 draft but I do hope Simon's and Grant get traded so they can get some more solid wings on this team and more future first's
shae been healthy since the end of the season, unless he shows any warning signs during training camp or preseason I don't see any reason why scoot would start over him. also take note that anfernee simons turns into a cone once he's ot the main ball handler, him and scoot would be a disaster backcourt.
i think Anf is not a terrible defender at all. .. Scoot is off the bench 100%. Anf Sharpe Avdija Grant Ayton (if Grant is still in the team). Scoot Camara Clingan - main pieces of the bench (and Clingan Scoot need to build up chemistry) i expect Thybulle and Timelord to be moved (potentially with some min contracts like Murray Walker Reath).
I don't disagree, but I think the team has so much investment in Scoot given essentially choosing him over Dame, and drafting him number 3. Shae was good last year but they started Scoot and Anfernee night 1 then, so I'd expect them to do the same. Never know though
