The BMW M2 Competition is ALMOST PERFECT. 

Hey everyone! I apologize about not filming the rear seat space! I had the clip but the audio was not useable and I couldn't put it into the review. Just know that the rear seat is useable! I can fit back there being six feet tall but I am a tad bit cramped. Easily can be used as storage space or to accommodate that 3rd or 4th person in a pinch!

The M2 has been a dream car for me ever since it was released. Thank you Forrest for your great review. Hope to have a go in this car myself some day.

The pops and crackles come on after the engine warms up. At least that's my theory.

loved everything about this vid: visuals, commentary, perfect run time. not too short and not too long ... However the sound, i normally dont have to adjust volume on sound tests.

Agree with the huge muffler; there’s a $5 fix - spray paint. Specifically, use high-temp BBQ paint from any hardware store. I painted mine satin black on the 2nd day of ownership & did the same on my Jeep, because it’s lifted and has a similar highly visible muffler that started to discolor.

Great video...my exact car. The first thing I did is painted that muffler flat black, added matching m-pedals and wrapped the roof, mirrors, 3 front bumper slits and side skirts gloss black!!!

You should use a dedicated microphone during the driving section, because it's the most important part of a car review!

I rather spend a few thousands more and get a M2 Comp over the Supra. I'm not looking from track times and I prefer the looks of the M2.

Driving mine for a week and love it. Actually I recognised the speedo needles are actually there but lighted like they are digital. I think so they have no lag like other full digital ones. And I love this fact

It does have traditional needles, the only digital parts are the screens in the middle and in the bottom of the rev counter, it also doesn't have runflats. (trust me, I know)

Great in depth review, I will be test driving one soon. Sounds like you prefer the original M2 over the Comp pack bc of engine weight.

It was said so manny times in so many places that dash in M2C is not digital. It is simple dash with moving needles but LED back lighted.

idk as a daily driver, I think I would prefer the Porsche 718 Cayman - it would be more reliable, and maybe a more comfortable ride though i think the M2 competition may go down as a future classic

You have to wait 2 minutes for the exhaust to fully open up with the pops. Also if you tap on the gas in m2 you can instantly hear the exhaust open up, but it won’t until you give the pedal a little tap.

You forgot to mention the center console armrest is adjustable in position sliding front to back

When people starting bmw and right away starting to accelerate to hear exhaust, is wrong. You have to start the car (one exhaust valve will be open) in 5 min car will open second valve (after warming up catalytic converter). Only now you can switch to Sport and try exhaust sound. 🙂 PS in 5 min you will actually hear when the car is open a second valve of the exhaust. Great review sir !!!!

Its the mistake most reviewers make ..They rev the car before its properly warmed up.

Nicely done review bud. Just wanted to point out the reason for the muffler hanging so low. BMW says it is to prevent parachuting in the rear bumper. The grooves in it are to channel air below and around the bumper. They don’t want air getting into the hollow of the bumper to avoid drag. Also means that they didn’t install proper underbody aero panels and are thus relying on the low hanging muffler instead.

Nice review. Does it also feature Android Auto? I had an OG M2. To comment on the back seat, it works really well for forward facing car seats. Had two Clek Fllo's in it without issue at all. In fact it was very easy to get kids into with the wide front opening where my current Golf R is kind of cramped.

The cluster is not fully digital. It’s actually analog which gets illuminated but sits behind a dark screen so it makes it look digital. You can actually see the mph and rpm needles while the car is off if you look closely

I had a 2020 M2 for 3 years and I really liked it. It's a fun driver's car. My biggest complaint was the stereo. It's pretty abysmal for a 70k car. The interior could be a bit better too, but drivability was great. (although I'd definitely go with the manual. It's too bad you had the auto here) That being said, I only put 18k miles on it, and had a few problems. A rear seal and then some sort of belt issue that they never did fix before I traded it in on a new RS3 I ordered a year earlier. I took it in 3 different times in the month or two leading up to that. Any time I started it you'd hear a belt noise for the first couple minutes it was warming up. Overall I like the RS3 more, but the M2 was a cool car.

What surprised me most of the m2c was the amount of space you get.

Really have fallen in love with this car. I’m looking for one now, their price has gone up during these weird times so a well kitted used one is almost as much as buying new would have been. But since the next M2 is likely to have a ZF auto 8 speed and more of the BMW cars will be moving to electric the F87 is the one to get. Great review brother

The most perfect car ever made imo!!!!

It's a beautiful car (minus the oil drum sized exhaust) and sounds like it'd be a blast to drive. Driver's knee pad is awesome. The illuminated M2 seat badges seem gimmicky, but are kinda nice. Steering wheel is disappointing though - would've preferred it slightly thicker with a flat bottom. The classic/simple look of the cluster is a win. That's designed for a driver. No gimmicks or distractions, just the info you need infront of your face. But overall, $67k fully loaded seems to be a bit much. The rarity makes it kinda awesome, and the subtly of its looks means it'll only be truly recognizable by fellow enthusiasts... which I love. I can only dream of driving one of these. Awesome review.

I'm surprised you didn't comment on the terrible steering. It's got a weird disconnect. You turn the steering wheel and there is a delay. Very odd...

I'm not an M2C owner, but speaking as an M240i owner (with the 6-speed manual) the 2-series platform is a wonderful one. Great size, great chassis, and I think the power and handling is fantastic already. I can only imagine how great M2's drive Btw there's a couple other ways to decipher an M2 from M2C on the front: the kidney grilles. The M2C has the kidney grilles connected as one piece, and they're a slightly different shape. The M2 has the same shape/size kidney grilles as lower-level F22's. The M2 doesn't have the M mirrors either, but the M2C does.

Forget 0-60 times, N55 vs S55 or M seats vs M-Sport seats. Between the OG M2 and the M2 Competition, which car feels better?

Good delivery but so MANY BAD INACCURACIES: it's an in-line twin-turbo 6, not a V6 turbo; PARK transmission is automatic, leave the car in DRIVE and switch off; it does not have adaptive cruise, but that button is city auto-braking; knee pad is for cornering not tall drivers; the instruments are NOT fully digital, but partly (just the bottom centre and right display); the centre console button after traction is NOT for transmission but engine mode; manual mode is also activated via the paddles; iDrive "COM" button is for your telephone not internet; the sound inside is digitized. While driving, it shows you are quite inexperienced: you don't get the transmission modes; your steering, braking and rolling criticisms are ill-founded (obviously you haven't driven the Supra properly or to the limit, as its suspension is softer and rolls more!).

Should have try the manual transmission.

Alter the look of the M2C drastically and cheaply with a set of 20mm wheel spacers on each corner. Unbelievable how much better it looks

Definitely a manual is best for any drivers car. I personally prefer the 1m for it's rarity.

These cars pick up huge hp with just a tune. Same hp as a tuned m3 or m4. Tune eliminates all the limits of the factory under rating which are obvious on any dyno readout. It's literally a flat line where the torque is factory restricted. -----

Well in Malaysia, this same exact car cost hundred fifty thousand USD.. I wish I live in the states where cars are so cheap..

I also would get it with a manual! Decent price point for this car. Only issue is the ugly muffler; reminds me of the ugly front grill in the M4. I’d take a manual Supra next year... maybe!👍🏻

Forrest i love this car but quick question M2 Comp or M4 ?

If my lil research is accurate, this BMW, the CS edition and the M6 are the only BMW cars (and the ones a lil before and after) with noticeable upgrades in technology. I really like the M3... But I can't stand the lack of obvious technology therein!

cool review. but two major points that aren't remotely based in reality: 1) @20:17 how is a m2c a "parts bin" car and the N55 M2 isn't....? the N55 was also an existing engine put in a new model. i'm super happy about getting a real M engine, instead of a hotted up non-M engine. 2) @21:10 the car definitely does NOT perform at its best in automatic. i'm sorry to be so blunt, but wtf are you talking about? in auto mode, there is a significant delay when you mash the pedal unless your rpms are already high. the only way to get instant torque while cruising is to have it in manual mode and drop 2 gears to get your rpms to 4k. on the other hand, the supra does not have this issue, it always has full torque on tap. but it also stops pulling at around 5500 rpm, while the M2C pulls all the way to 7000ish i also disagree that the supra has better steering. both are artificial, but the m2c weights up nicely with more load. the supra doesn't have this so it has kind of a rubbery disconnected feel, but it also has a faster steering ratio. supposedly you can remedy this by using polyurethane bushings instead of the oem rubber ones. your hands are a bit more busy in an m2c, in general. so i guess the question is, do you like faster steering? or would you want more progressive weight in the steering that gives a sense of feel, although artificial?

I'll get my flame suit on.... why would you buy this at almost 70 grand when the C8 Corvette exists? Honest question.
