Great review Joe so in summary because there was less focus on weight saving this is not a real csl model and more a runout special, in australia they struggled to shift these models....i would guess adding the adaptive suspension versus other weight saving countered the weight benefit. but still a very nice car. looking forward to your GT3.....
@@Peanutdenver I suspect it's a no win compromise of sorts, extra cooling or better for track will leave road driving and winter conditions to cold, predominantly its a road car, not designed for track.... this is why on race cars you sometimes see cooling ducts tapped up in winter and open in summer or hotter ambient conditions...you can probably fix it, but at what cost and how much does anyone want to pay for a CS road car.
I'm so glad BMW have kept the M2 alive; it is such a great looking car and drives so well. I used to have an M240i in 2016 and even that was a terrific car. The inline 6 is a gem and I guess it won't be long before BMW makes the 2 series front wheel drive with a 1 cylinder lawn mower engine.

Great review Joe. A small point but I love your real time editing!. You switch camera views and talk, and rather than add fluffy b- roll over your voice, I see the same cars coming past you in the one shot. Good work!. As for the CS, I wouldn't kick it out of my garage and that Misano blue looks way better than in photos. Lose those horrific wheel arch covers and I'm a happy camper...apart from the $155k price here in Oz.
I think the reason they couldn't save more weight, compared to the M2 Comp, was because the adaptive suspension adds weight. Therefor net weight difference between the two isn't that big. I might be wrong though.
Cracking review as ever Joe. Always love the fact that a customer can spend all that cash and then another couple of grand on a new exhaust to make it even better. Well out of my price range but a lovely car. That being said between you and Carmaddad you've already cost me enough for my 1 series!!

Not convinced I would upgrade from my 2019 M4 Competition Pack given the price of this one - especially as the depreciation will be killer like on the M3CS & M4CS. Another great review, Joe! Certainly a tricky car to justify the price tag when you can buy an M4 Comp with a few extras added or even an M2 Comp and splurge on extras. Then again, the M2 CS has some gorgeous parts added as standard as you’ve covered.

Shame you can't get adaptive suspension on the M2 comp. That and a set of cup 2 tyres with a Remus exhaust would be just as good for a lot less money. Top class video and review Joe.👍

Been waiting for this, it doesn't disappoint. The ceramic brakes high temp is kinda worrying, they wear much quicker when it gets glowing hot since these are not racing spec.
Very enjoyable watch. Have to believe (as a Cayman owner) the BMW is the more comfortable car all round and of course the practicality. Saving weight is hard especially when the starting point is an already fairly light car. Personally I wouldn't pay £20k extra for this and nor would I pay Porsche money for a BMW
On the contrary Joe, I’m praying for a bit of healthy depreciation! Modest income and shared financial decision making precludes me from indulging unless these deprecate like an Alfa 😏

For all that money you'd think bmw would have shaved a substantial amount of weight.i'm pretty sure you can get an m2 competition to be exactly like this for well under 15k.nevertheless,great video joe
Comments regarding availability are not accurate as far as mainland Europe is concerned. There are several 0km M2CS available at dealers. Same goes for Porsche GT4. Before COVID you indeed needed a very good relationship with your local dealer. Not so anymore.
My M2 CS has the 405 horsepower engine not the 444 HP engine as advertised. BMW's official documentation (MCO/MSO) for my car shows that it came with the 405 HP engine. I contacted BMW North America on April 19,2021 about the horsepower discrepancy. They refuse to address my concerns.
Joe.. Another great review but what is the deal with the exhaust system why hasn’t BMW fixed it . I don’t understand why it’s sticking out like that hanging so low you can see the whole thing it just looks so tacky.
Great review as always I quite like it but I cant help but feel slightly disappointed by it. Really good car but I think more weight saving and better use of carbon could've made for a genuine upgrade over a comp. I'd save the 3 or 400 a month and go for an M2C or if I'd purely want something for a dry sunday I'd get an m3 csl

We touch on the Remus as a necessity for sound (and vision - surely not a cows udder on a M2cs!?) Joe, but what about the stance - doesn't it need the suspension lowering/spacing that our Comps did even though the adaptive setup works so well physically if not visually?
Carbon ceramic discs do not glow, you have got that completely wrong carbon ceramic disk brake rotors are design to handle heat so your comment about "not liking heat" is not valid.
After owning an M2 and a M2 Comp you have to spend around 80k on a 2 series to get reasonable ride quality for UK roads. The rear end on both of them was like a pogo stick so had awful traction & stability but good to drive on glass like Welsh roads

ashTcars yeah, I’ve got a new OPF RS3 which is more muted than the pre OPF but still sounds better than that M2, maybe it was the recording quality but it didn’t sound good : (
