Can you confirm this game will support offline play so that it won’t one day be ripped away from players like the recent situation with Ubisofts The Crew?

Please discuss plans for a 'career' mode or similar experience. Everything shown up to this point just makes it seem like a multiplayer sandbox where you grind XP for cosmetics or whatnot. Will there be a story mode? What options will there be to play by yourself in the world without other people? A theme brought up by you all time and again is making this a skate game that allows people to play how they want. Many of us want to play on our own, and progress through a curated story/career mode. Also, I'd love to hear from the folks running the create a park systems. With modern hardware, I hope that the issues faced with past games (framerate, size limitations etc) can be addressed. I'd love to see the developers invest heavily in the create a park mode, as it will allow the community to have long term content and new terrain.

Tbh im worried this game will be soulless. Not because the developers dont have love for their project, they clearly do. However they say they are listening to the community but there’s no mention of a campaign, which was the core of the original skate games. Online mode was a feature, one that was loved nonetheless, but not the game itself. I would rather pay £30 and have a campaign and offline mode rather than have a sandbox online live service game that closes down after people lose interest in the repetitive loop of grinding for clothes. I really hope you guys prove me wrong and i really hope you read this.

There definitely needs to me a story career where you get your sponsors like the first two games but longer story. Also npcs and cars to make the city feel alive and backyard pools

As a life long skate 1, 2 and 3 enjoyer, I really, REALLY hope to be able to play Skate offline, not tied to an always-online system!!!

My #1 question in regards to character design is - Why are the majority of the pants cuffed? It is not 2014. Where are the baggier pants? Why aren’t the straight fit non-cuffed pants more commonly showcased?

This game is going to be a live service micro-transaction hell. Take me back to the good ole days of Skate 3 when everything wearable was unlockable in game.

Why can’t we just get a normal skate 4 with story? And what’s wrong with it being stylized? That’s what made the old skate games so good. They all had a certain unique feel.

A couple things. We *need* the ability to play the game fully offline. Also, the current art direction is a bit too cartoony. Its sad that it has to be a live service game regardless though. I'm willing to bet that not a single person is happy about it, and its highly likely that EA is forcing that decision.

Please, for the love of god, make this game availabe in offline. So even without internet I can still at least hop on, skate around, unlock new items, do challenges and later when I do have internet it just syncs up all the progress I made offline into the new online mode, and at least when the servers inevitably shut down, we can all still play it by ourselves and make progress.

Will there be a single player story mode?

So many players might kill me for this, but I’ve always thought that it would be cool to add some element of realism to the board’s use. What I mean by that is that things like board slides, nose and tail slides, etc. scratch up the board - like it does in real life. Bearings get worn out, wheels get worn down and need to be replaced, and boards snap on major impact. It’s like a car taking gradual damage throughout the race in racing games. You don’t typically just brush up against a car or a wall and suddenly your car’s undrivable. There’s progression there until it reaches the point of being undriveable and then you fail the race. If your goal is to push merchandising and customization in this game, you really should make it so that players have to visit the stores to replace their setup periodically or when they snap their board, and they can purchase things like better bearings, lighter trucks, impact dampeners, new, better quality boards and different types of wheels based on how much money they’ve earned. I know we earned sponsorship money in the first game, but there was really no real incentive or requirement to use that money, it was merely just there if you wanted to use it. Of course, there would be a barebones generic setup available at the stores in case you snap your board and have no money, but it’d just be cool to see that element of realism added.

you can be genderless ok, but is it playable offline? can you progress offline? when will you go into full alpha? are there any hard goals or roadmaps in place at all? two years ago I was excited, we seem to have progressed about 5% since then 😂

would love to see a good diverse selection of clothing, both extremely baggy pants but also more standard or even slim pants and as far as shirts i would love to see dynamic layering options like for example if there’s a cool t-shirt you could layer a different colored long sleeve under the shirt rather than just putting the same graphic on the long sleeve option and calling it a day, also like wearing a hoodie/ jacket/ flannel unzipped/ open but still being able to wear a graphic t-shirt of choice under it, just lots of ways to customize our wardrobe on a realistic level :)

I know some many have discussed this already but these board room episodes are really toning down any hype this game that was left. We all see where this is going which is fine but this feels like its intentionally designed to string folk along with the years of needing a skate 4

It's been almost 14 years since the last release. As a huge skate fan, I'm getting extremely uninterested. We begged EA for years and this is what we get? This game better be the GTA 5 of skateboarding.

Personally can't stand playing a game when I constantly feel like it's trying to get me to spend money. I play games to get away from spending and earning and things. All this talk about how looking how you want is important for expressing yourself etc, when we know it's a free to play and will be monetized selling clothes, skins, etc, it seems really contradictive of what's being said in this video. All I get from it is "you deserve to express yourself, if you pay". Unlockables are all well and good, and a good sense of achievement, but we know the tactics, the really unique unlocks will be cash only. I know games need to earn money, but I am so over this argument that it's okay to charge for cosmetics because you can still do everything else in the game. "Battlepass" mechanisms and FOMO weekly challenges are also terrible for a lot of people. Tried the battlepass route and it ended up burning me out trying to finish them. I wanted to finish because I would effectively lose the items that I paid for and didn't get chance to unlock. After the grind for finishing one, I am done with the game. It is so hard to care about a "live service" game in 2024. The amount that just go under making them literally unplayable even offline is massive. I still play Skate 2 and 3. I very much doubt I will still even be able to play a live service game in 10 years. That is another reason I am having a hard time caring about a F2P skate game.

7:42 Please dont make the game look like this, this skeleton dude looks like he's wearing pyjamas.. I have no problem with bodysuits and masks etc, but in a fashion sense, this looks pretty crappy and cheap.. Sleeves and overall the sweater too short, pants as well, also pants have a weird shape.. Skeleton mask also looks too clunky, give it some nice shape, maybe not covering the whole head like a helmet, but more like a mask.. I hope you get what I'm trying to say. Just hoping the game will look highly fashionable and not so childish. I have hopes though, the decks ( 5:20 ) looked pretty amazing and Yolanda's character also has potential. Also I'm aware the game is in an early state, so hopefully the bad looking outfits rn won't make it into the final game (:

I made my own skate game while waiting for this.. 😅

What we’re missing is clear messaging about the game. We can expect as lifelong skate fans. Especially those who like a more realistic hard-core experience like we had in skate three in the amazing parks and style of skate 2. It’s going to be live service and it’s EA so we know consistent revenue is important. But what we’ve been shown is customization, which is great. But we’ve also mostly seen vertical gameplay, larger than life jumps, and tricks, which is fine, But how is this game? Going to serve those who get more grounded and gravity based approach? will we get hard-core mode? Will there be a story? will there be single player private lobbies? Personal expression is great, but we can’t lose that first word, Personal. Will you be able to create your own parks? Will we be able to create our own graphics like we used to? Will we clans/teams. Well the game reflect how skating has changed with really cool finesse street like Andy Anderson, takes a lot of inspiration from Rodney Mullens, and Florida skate culture? The last thing I wanna do in a skate game is forced into a lobby with a bunch of wacky creations, With a plot of skaters, I don’t want to play with. I will remain hopeful and optimistic, but I could really use some reassurance from the team on these things .

Where are the baggy pants?

Would be so good to be able to change board, truck and wheel sizes. I’m a big fan of big board small wheel setups and to be able to have that option in the game would be amazing. Having the option to build a skateboard to suit your style whether that is street skating, bowl skating or all round would make the game feel a lot more realistic for everyone, who agrees with me?

It's cool you guys are putting focus on the customization part of things, specially for a more wide and accessible title this time around with it being free-to-play and live service, but it would be nice if you shed a light on us with regards to how grindy the progression for us to get said customization items will turn out to be. We don't want to spend hours and hours doing events just to get one pair of "Vans" shoes, or half of a "Girl Yeah Right!-themed" board. Also, I feel it's not good to brag about your game having "the option to spend money *only if you want to*", which can be seen as a problem if the microtransaction prices turn out to be ludicrously expensive while giving very little.

Just work on the landing a bit more. Some of them look stiff. Make some landings look sketchy too, not all landings are perfect

This is so conflicting. I really appreciate that yall are making the game free to play, and giving people the ability to get all of the gameplay for free. A huge portion of me wishes that the game was just $60, and I can get or unlock everything. This does probably mean fewer players, and less money for you guys and EA, but, it comprises what SKATE is to the OG fans, the people that have supported the franchise from day one. Conflicting. I’m going to feel sad if I have to pay any significant amount of money for anything BESIDES cosmetics in this game. I can play a default skater, as long as I get all of the gameplay for free. In my heart, I’d rather pay $60 for the whole thing tho.

Can you please focus on the actual idea of the game? skateboarding. who cares about all of that extra stuff, just make a "better" skate 2 / 3 with new content / new story and that's it. Maybe push your online mode for in-game real money purchases, but please think about the players that don't want none of this and those who would much rather have a game based on the old ones.

Is it possible for us to have a single player mode? I've gone through a few comments, and I completely agree, there definitely should be a single player, it would be a good shout to have, rather than only multiplayer, but so far, all the customization I'm hoping it's not all microtransactions, ye, have a few, but not every single possible customization. And I'm hyped for this, I loved every second of it.

We need a custom walk style in the game each player/ character needs to have a unique walk

Remember to only buy something if it's worth the purchase at the moment. Never buy something on the promise of "just trust me bro, it'll get better in the next update/expansion." More often than not the improvements happen far too late to keep up with competition. That is if the improvements even happen before the product gets shelved. I know this is just pre-alpha footage, but their talk of "launch is just the beginning" gets me nervous. I really want the Skate series to have a good comeback, but if it's going to be completely directionless then I'm not sure it'll have the personality to keep my attention. If there isn't a full single-player offline-mode campaign at launch then I'm not buying. I didn't play the other skate games online often and I won't be forced to stay in online sessions just to have a silly time flipping a board. Honestly, I don't even feel like playing with other people is even that much of a improvement to the Skate experience to me. I spent hours of my life engaging in the unique and inventive world/level design and getting into a flow state by focusing on my lines. NPCs that could dynamically use obstacles near me, but stay at a distance where they aren't distracting feels like a better idea than just trusting random people won't get in the way. Something I liked was in this game from the people at Ubisoft Annecy called Steep. In it, whenever you did a challenge it'd have phantom players with the bronze, silver, gold and online high score records do the challenge with you. This way, you could learn the lines, see shortcuts and feel a sense of competitiveness all while not having to directly engage with another person or relying on a consistent internet connection. In my honest opinion, Steep did so much right with it's gameplay and quest designs. Steep's successor Riders Republic felt too bland. Really felt like it was trying to be like a Fortnite for extreme sports. Again, that game was directionless and relied on players to basically make the content themselves. Their big pull was the massive amounts of crowds that COULD accumulate in events, but when the game only pulls a peak of 2-4k concurrent players on new season and DLC drop the world ends up feeling dead and empty. If a game can make the individual feel that the world they're playing in is alive without the requirement of online play, then I believe there'll be a stronger sense of engagement and longevity to the lifetime of the game itself.

given the current state of fashion i really hope they get the fit of pants right, tired of seeing cuffed cargos and only really skinny options in a lot of games

In the most respectful and constructive way possible: we asked for skate 4. We did not want you to take years to epitomize the skateboarding videogame. It’s taking way too long because you bit off way more than you could chew, and the fanbase would have been satisfied with a modern rendition of the formula that made the brand successful in the first place. It’s not too late to come up with a story and make it what it should have been. Sorry for being so blunt, but it is plain as day.

This game being F2P makes me believe this will just be a live service MP game. I would hope there’s some sort of career mode. The thought of the game just being online or whatever seems repetitive and could get boring quick hopefully it’s more than that. Skate 3 is a perfect example to follow up on

biggest thing we need in skate 4 is better NPC, Cars, background stuff in general make the aspect of the areas your skating in feel real (and beefs like in skate 3 when you’d bump into some people they would get angry and chase you)

Board/shoe wear and tear as an option would be awesome and please incorporate a vx1000/fisheye filter for playback and editing!

Feel like there needs to be less focus on the characters… gameplay, textures, graphics, and environments are key. Also game modes that involve spectating other players like spot battle are so fun and make for great memories

Question regarding @5:55, are we able to scale the stickers placed on the board? Is there going to be a limit to the amount of layers we will have to customize this, and are we able to add stickers to the grip tape as well? Keep up the amazing work skate. team, very excited for the game whenever it's ready!

I'm hoping we get the choices of shaped boards, conical wheels, maybe the Krux trucks with the hole in the truck, but overall i'm really excited for this.

This contact with the player and developer is very noble! Feedbacks are a key to success! I think that content and fun is the most important thing in the game, the more options and equipment you have the better, but EA has to take it easy on microtransactions.

The immersion of skate 2 and 1 is what made those two games better than skate 3 in my opinion, I'm looking for a totally imersive atmosphere that I can really feel like I'm actually skating in. Super hyped on this game, you have no idea!

I really hope you guys change the way you lock into grinds because you would never lock into 5050s in the middle of your trucks, same for crooked grinds. It would look more natural to lock in right up against the wheels like you would in real life. Keep up the good work!

Can’t wait to spend all of my money on fake skate. For us older skaters with careers who can’t skate as much as we’d like, we’ve been dreaming about this for a long time. I think putting ourselves or at least accurate depictions of who we want to be in game, is massive. Thank you for the height sliders. Can’t wait to feel out the game.
