Genuinely, for being such a core part of skating, we've never had an actual physical skate shop in the games as far as I can remember (although I didn't play much of the first game, I came into the series later)

If EA would keep this level of transparency for their future titles and then backed in up with their actions they could really turn their reputation around after a few game releases. This is so refreshing to see in the industry and I for one really appreciate it. The game is looking good and I really don’t have many concerns so long as we’re getting legitimate communication. Thanks to this dev team and EA for taking this approach with this game. I’ve no doubt the doors being so open can get pretty annoying, but we’re stoked to be along for the ride, so thanks.

Im hoping for more contextual animations that bring it into the current gen. Hands groping for walls, catching your body during falls, more realistic wallrides.

​@@tetermchave you tried skaterxl with mods? played it alot couple of years ago and with some tweaking it's by far the smoothest expierence. also unlimited maps and very good cam settings. only negative is the hassle of keeping the mods up to date. that's why i quit

One thing that's actually making me nervous is the fact theyre talking about slappys and wallies to keep things moving and not to slam/fall, but falling when I mess up is what I want. I always liked playing and trying to do a trick combo and failing multiple times before getting it, like I would in real life. If I run into a curb I want to fly off my board and get fucked up, not just immediately transition into a grind. Like these things are really cool if I can do them when I WANT to do them, but if the game is going to put me into a grind any time I slam my board into a curb or make me wallie whenever I try to ollie up a ledge instead of letting me fail, that'll actually be somewhat disappointing. But for real THANK YOU SO MUCH for being this transparent about everything. It definitely makes the waiting much easier, and I'll wait as long as needed to get a great finished product. Such a difference from companies like Activision with COD.

@@umprezaApparently they have already confirmed there will be a story mode. I haven't seen the announcement myself but supposedly you can sign up for updates from the team and they confirmed this in one of the updates

it's really good seeing devs talking about the process and so openly describing what they still need to work on and why. i don't know why this kind of video format isn't more common in the gaming industry. really interesting and can't wait to eventually play it!

Still not too late to make this game a proper full game with physical discs and a story mode. I think it’s what the player base wants and deserves after all this time. Very happy with how the gameplay looks and the new features!

I loved the amount of importance that's been given to playtesting, instead of launching an unfinished product you can polish the heck out of it and release a near-perfect title.

I know it’s probably low on the agenda in terms of gameplay but I would love to see some Rodney Mullen inspired tricks. Primo slide, Casper slide, impossible etc.

This is going to be the best skater game ever made… the wallies & slappies is SUCH a smart concept for beginners… I just remember first playing skate HATING how I would bump into stuff the way I did and am glad I got around that learning curve but at the same time would always hear of people quitting because they didn’t have the same drive I had for the game. Plus even as a good player of the game the slappies will STILL be useful on another level.

10/10 Board Room ep yall, the dynamics & range of the team members here was immaculate. I am very open about any criticisms I may have, but I have none for this ep. Also, seeing a little more than high-level overview of the implementation of the new contextual features was extremely cool. All in all, this EP got me hyped af ngl.

@@skate I think the thing that really satisfies the itch that I like these to fill (the hype of the next installment of a game we have loved for a decade & are willing to wait however long we need to for) is hearing as much from the engineers that are working on features that have been tough, but are slowly being broken down & made progress on. Something this EP did really well was the balance between 'vibes'/appealing to skate culture & talking about the raw technical design & challenges. also, I know some of the OG hardcore skate fans have been haters about the parkour being the focus in past videos, but I think showing it being talked about by an engineer who added something cool at the end of their 1-week 'do what you think is cool' sprint - in the same kind of way the engineer in this video broke down his work on contextual slappys in this one - would be something that doesnt catch any heat. The casual players are going to come no matter what, I am sure of it - but I'd wager they make up less than 5% of the viewership of these boardrooms. This EP really seemed to manage that really well & had a long of care put into reassuring the quick to hate realistic hardcore fans that they were not being forgotten. All in all, hearing more from engineers & the technical team is what I want to see more of - specifically about problems they were taking on & able to slowly break through on. Any sort of 'we heard you guys, this is what we are doing to do about it' will always be a 10/10 addition, like the segment about the transition skating overhauls.

Your dedication to exceeding everyone's expectations truly does not go unnoticed. I am eagerly looking forward to seeing what the transition skating looks like in the game. Funny that you mention sessions on a curb in a McDonalds parking lot lol. Back in ‘87 that is exactly what I was doing as I had one right across the street from me. The curb had to be about 30 or 40 feet long and was awesome for railslides. We even bumper shined cars in the drive-through😆. Such great memories from skateboarding. Thanks for keeping the love alive with all your games.❤

This was my favorite Board Room episode so far and I still can't believe this game is finally coming! I got two things that I really, really wish you guys would consider: - I think it's important that the game manages to create an atmosphere, for example by making the map a bit dirtier and rougher here and there. Such an environment is so much more authentic and immersive to me than one that feels "flat" over time due to its cleanliness. What I also appreciate about Skate 2 for example is that the lighting gave it such a memorable character. - I would like to see more diverse trick animations. Undoubtedly related to the individual style of the skater I think it would be cool to see how differently a trick can be executed. Be it on the clean/sketchy spectrum, slight variations on how the board can rotate on a flip or how a grind is locked in. Even more varied trick executions would represent skateboarding in real life all the more and give the gameplay a new depth imo.

I love how the animation Director is super honest about how everthing works and that it looks good 'for the most part' i loved the glitchyness of the older games and i am sure we will get some fun silly stuff with this one too, don't be too hard on yourselves and don't let the crunch get to you. Loved the detail of this, very well-done. It's so cool to hear how much passion has been behind this project from the start. It sounds like it's in as good of hands as any. When you guys brought up going back to play the older games after working on this game, it occurred to me just how painful off-board traversal was, at times. You guys have really revolutionized one of the most glaring drawbacks of the other games through this climbing system, and realizing that made me much more stoked for what it brings to the table. Looking forward to what's next for this game!

i love that y’all include skate terminology throughout the video. when Skate 3 came out i was like 12 and didn’t know the difference between a boardslide and a lipslide and learned through over a decade of irl skating. loving the accessibility for ppl new to the game/skateboarding itself

I'm so hyped for this game. Literally have the fanbase working on this game, not just the playtest...but many of the devs are fans and skaters themselves. It's gonna be great and gonna have something that everybody wants.

Skate 2 and 3 was my childhood. I personally never saw a need for skate 3's four emotes. I hope that we get two emotes and two buttons for trick variation

Two things I would love to see in this game: 1. I play a game called for honor pretty religiously. And one thing I think they really got right is the customization. Not only does each specific hero have a big variety of different base customization options (pants, chest, arms, legs etc.) but when you pick the one you want, you can customize even deeper. So pick a pattern out of a library full, a color scheme for that pattern for that specific piece of clothing as well as ornaments you can add. I would love to see, even if a small version of this, implemented into the skate game just to really give people full control of how they express themselves. 2. A reward for players who grind out everything. I can’t recall if there was anything about a mission story line, but if so, reward players who got the highest possible scores on each mission with a special outfit or something that again, tying in with my first part, they can tweak and customize a bit to stand out. Something like how back in the old days of halo, players who beat the game on legendary were rewarded with really cool customization options. I am well aware how slim the chances of something like this being implemented are, but I just wanted to put my general wants out there. 😁

wow...im so shocked and impressed. every single thing i would work my ass off to try make look real and smooth in hard mode on skate 3..you guys are working on. slappys, transitions, wallrides. the physics and making it look slick, smooth and how a real skater would interact with his enviroment. been able to pop out of a blunt without actually having to pop an ollie and being able to just transition back onto ground... wow. to see you guys literally address every thing i had wanted to be improved and added in makes me so unbelievably happy i cant wait to play n support the game when it comes out.

It's crazy to me that many other people have had the same experience with the first skate game that I had. I'd skate after school with my friends and when I got home I'd just put on music and play skate for hours before bed. Summers, same thing, they were the best. Skating with friends all day and then getting home and playing skate all night.

Dude YES! skate already has the best transition skating so to hear you guys are working to improve it further as well as adding new mechanics to transition skating is so exciting. skate has always had the best sense of momentum when you are pumping and carving a bowl so I'm excited to see how they push it further 😃

I think its kinda cool and good on the idea of people not falling do much. I remember first playing yes curbs were a nightmare. But playing a while ago it was fun recreating video part tricks you would struggle or may never do. It made me think if pros actually played this as a test or feeling sometimes. Like thinking of a trick or what would that 16 stair blacksmith feel like. But also with the new stuff added I hope it keeps people not so frustrated and hopefully makes people actually wanna skateboard more

Nothing was more fun than the unrealistic speed and insane air I would get in Skate 3 and throwing myself into stuff 😂 Im so hype to do it again!
