“Gojira” I like how you think. 👍 Great reaction, thanks. Love Amy Sedaris and her brother David. Saw David in November at the college Speaker’s Series and laughed so much. Highly recommend his books. Some quotes of his: We're like a pair of bad trapeze artists, reaching for each other's hands and missing every time. A good [short story] would take me out of myself and then stuff me back in, outsized, now, and uneasy with the fit. Missing a nose. With these children Santa has to be careful not to ask, "And what would you like for Christmas?” Write relentlessly, until you find your voice. Then, use it. -David Sedaris

I really enjoyed the episode and series. Boba and Din went beast mode together! The Rancor scene reminded me of SWTOR and being able to play as a bounty hunter with a rancor mount. Grogu using force jump to hug DaddyDin melted my heart. Grogu's face when the N1 goes zoom made my life! Can't wait for KENOBAE!!!!

The finale wasn’t the worst. It had its moments. But I admit that Robert Rodriguez’s episodes are my least favorite. Dallas Bryce Howard and/or Dave Filoni should’ve directed the finale. Both their respective episodes were the best from this series hands down…and arguably carried this series.

Everyone bags on the Mods, but my question is, why can't there be a youth culture movement that stands out from their elders? Their bikes ARE vespas, not speeders or swoops. Bane was 71, which is ancient for his race. He was the bad guy who dies in the showdown in the middle of the street; like every Western before it. Jesus, the effects were AWESOME for a tv series.
@rnkelly36

Here is my advice because I have been watching many people talk about SW on Disney +. Just let the story happen. The fan service is nice and it makes me happy but it is honestly in the way of the storytelling. Let them tell a story and lets see where it goes. The expectation we all have from the animations and the missed years has everyone with various expectations. I have always said I want stories that did not have the main characters we already know in it because I want something new but also centered around something for kids. However the little fan service is nice and gets the brain going. But in the end just tell a story.

Imagine if he wrote "F#%k you" on the tablet haha I am still in love with Drash 😍😍😍 Just realized that Boba's carrying around his Gaffi stick behind the jetpack Damn these droids are levels above droidekas... RANCOR!! Damn, and there goes Cad Bane... He finally went down. Awww Grogu Wow Fennec that was brutal... So that's all of them dead then? Boba smiling is so wholesome. It amazes me how many people still complain about the 2 episode side trek. It is like no one has ever read a book. In books chapters and parts of chapters always follow ancillary characters and their plot lines that eventually tie into the main plot line. This was named The BOOK of Boba Fett and had CHAPTERS not episodes

This is the end credit scene I wanted: A camera slowly pans through the streets of Mos Espa at night, littered with the bodies of the fallen. We watch a robed figure strolling through, seemingly searching for something. Unsatisfied, the figure pulls out a holo-communication device and activates it, showing an Imperial officer of some kind. The following dialogue ensues: Officer: Was it successful? Robed Figure: Unfortunately no. The attack on the city failed to lure Skywalker out. Officer: Perhaps we need to use stronger bait. .....Find the child. Robed Figure: Understood. The holo-device deactivates and the robed figure stands motionless for a moment, before lowering her hood to reveal red hair. She turns to walk off camera, revealing Mara Jade.

I have NO problem with the name. A book can have chapters in it that are devoted to the story of a side character or one that will interact with the main ones. Out of 7 episodes, they used two of them (5 and 6) to tell us what was happening simultaneously to popular characters that were going to be part of the final episode. Did anyone really care how much story time Boba Fett occupied in the Mandalorian series?

Well, a lot of what I predicted would happen did happen. First, the obvious one was Grogu choosing the beskar chainmail armor and returning to Mando (although no delivery boy Luke or Ashoka as I believed). The show didn't dip that far into the fan service well to show a Jedi battle in the middle of the streets of Mos Espa against the Pyke syndicate. But as you pointed out, it would seem a bit out of place for Luke to battle alongside Boba Fett in a territorial dispute (but it did morph from a battle between crime lords into a crusade against drugs so that Boba would be on the side of right). The people of Freetown did show up to aid Boba and Mando in the battle as I also predicted but without Cobb Vanth. However, he did end up at the Head Modder just as I said but just not fast enough to join the fight. Also, the Tuskans did not show up but I did not think that the eradication of one tribe meant that we would no longer see any of them (especially after the inclusion of the people of Freetown). Overall, I thought this episode was good but not great. Boba Fett had some shining moments (the battle in the streets and the showdown with Cad Bane) but also some serious deficiencies (the horrible planning in spreading out too thinly of his core team all over Mos Espa only to be ambushed by rival gangs and the completely unearned impact of him riding the Rancor). If not for serious plot armor, all of his soldiers should have been eradicated by the planned attacks. Black Krrsantan should have died many times over as Wookies are not that hard to kill (as demonstrated by the many pelts the Trandoshans harvest and the ones Boba Fett himself use to wear on his previous uniforms from ESB and ROTJ). He oscillated being limping and on the verge of death in the street battle to running around taking hits from a giant battle droid a little later on. As to his Rancor ride, it was telegraphed early on in the series but we never saw him training with the Rancor itself so the final outcome had a much diminished impact. He didn't earn the honor of mounting a Rancor of battle because of hard work and patience...only because he is Boba Fett and the plot called for it. I thought it should have been Boba Fett who killed the cadre of crimes bosses, the mayor and the Pyke syndicate head who ordered the destruction of his Tuskan tribe instead of Fennec. It would have been an appropriate vindication for their betrayal of their treaty with him as well as earned vengeance for his Tuskan family. It would have served as a great deterrent for anybody in the future would think of crossing Boba. Of course, people could say that Boba was injured in battle and could not do it himself (as Cobb was in his bacta tank being healed) but if Boba can ride a Rancor without ever being shown actually trying it, I'm sure they could have written that he took a healing dip after Black Krrsantan and before Cobb Vanth. On a side note about the Jedi: their are many corollaries between them and the Mandalorians. For instance, both are viewed as zealots from outsiders (or even within their own group as demonstrated by the opinions of The Armorer and Bo-Katan about each other). Both were hunted to near extinction (ironically by The Empire in both cases) and both had strict adherences to a code (which was often contradictory) that helped in the decline of their society. For the Jedi, they teach a belief in non-attachment to all things (possessions and relationships). This means, that in theory, all Jedi should be hermits who would shun all contact. However, Jedi are often portrayed with schools, living in cities, and taking part in all facets of society (government, business, etc.). They form bonds of friendship among themselves as well as with non-Jedi which results in grief when pain or death occurs within these relationships. The councils they form to aid in the ruling governments afford them luxuries (palacial estates with which to convene) as well as a great amount of power (which tends to corrupt whether in pursuit of more or when in fear of losing some). The Mandalorians to which Din belongs to is much the same. The strict adherence to unforgiving rules contributed to their down fall and the impossibility of restoring their numbers. The inability to remove helmets and the expulsion of any who do guarantees that only a select few ever stay Mandalorians. The fact that they are a society of warriors and as such engage in numerous battles means that their numbers are always dwindling until there are only 3 left (2 now that Mando has been expulsed). Their unwillingness to adapt or bend to their new reality, much like the Jedi, has resulted only a handful left in the galaxy. Just a little something I thought you might care to peruse (if you haven't thought about it yourself already)...

I think for the most part, this season finale stuck the landing. If there was one flaw in the episode, it was in the scale of the conflict. They'd been hyping up a "war" with the Pykes, and made it sound like they were preparing to bring a full-blown army to Tatooine. If that's the case, a battle of this size shouldn't have been enough for them to give up and walk away. I think my biggest complaint about this season is still that all of the Grogu stuff should've been saved for Mando Season 3. Just have Fennec find him somewhere and recruit him, and somewhere along the line have him mention wanting to see Grogu again. Then at the beginning of Mando S3, have the scenes with the Armorer & the other guy, and all the stuff with Luke & Grogu. It just felt like an episode and a half long detour right when things were escalating on Tatooine. But as far as this episode goes, I think it accomplished what it needed to. The payoff of Boba riding the Rancor came a little sooner than I was expecting, but it was still fun to see(but seriously, did that thing run all the way from Jabba's palace?). I know some people don't like the Mods but I was fine with them, I just wish they'd been developed more as characters(instead of spending so much time on Mando-related fanservice, for example). I think we got enough resolution that if they don't do a second season it won't feel incomplete, but I would absolutely be up for more Book Of Boba Fett. A second season that didn't have to spend as much time on flashbacks(as much as I enjoyed them), or on setting up the next season of The Mandalorian(yes, I'm gonna be a little grouchy about that for a while) could prove more popular with fans who didn't enjoy the pacing of this season. And c'mon Temeura Morrison & Ming-Na Wen are just too good, this can't be the last we see of them. :)

I can't really relate to all the negative reactions people had to this show. I very much see it as all part of the 'Mandalorian Saga'. All just one big tale, and this more as "The Mandalorian: The Book Of Boba Fett". I don't know what they've said but I'm not expecting a Season 2 of Boba. Next year we'll get another season of Mando, then Ahsoka, which may be part of this saga too. Storywise, I don't need Grogu back with Din, I'd rather him learning to become a Jedi and come back later. Not like it should take years if you go by Luke's path to becoming one. So that was disappointing. Seems more like character milking fan service than something that fits the story. As far as far as Cad Bane's death, I'm fine with it. I'd rather an on screen finish than an off screen no story finish for him. Cinematography was kinda flat this episode as well. And I still really have no interest in the mod crew at all, they still feel out of place. Krrsantan has some major plot armor, because wookies being impervious to blaster fire is a new one one. Besides not being able to decide if he could barely stand or he could run repeatedly throughout. And the Rancor taking heavy cannon shot to chest, same heavy cannon that blew up the 'armored' transport is really weird too. Plus side, rest of the Rancor fight was cool. And Grogu calming and curling up to it was adorable. Dialogue was kind of strange in places as well.

The finale is enjoyable but not as good as Chapters 5 & 6 because this one was directed by R Rodriguez. The vibe of the other ones he directed and this one is the same - remember the Mod squad and their chase scene? I think the title is fitting. On the life of Din Djarin aka The Mandalorian, there is a story where he met another mandalorian who is like no other and that chapter is covered in the book of Boba Fett. That’s why the BOBF is a limited series and simply under the shadow of The Mandalorian.
@jebus7679
@jebus7679 2 года назад
I think Boba Fett "going soft" would be more palatable if they had spent more time showing him actually becoming a part of the Tusken tribe. Shown him actually bonding with them outside of combat and combat training. If they had done that, I think people might have understood why he suddenly wanted to put down roots and have his own people. I mean, he is an orphan after all. It makes perfect sense that after finding, and then losing, a family, he would want that again. They just didn't explore that at all. As far as ruling Mandalore goes, I can 100% see Mando destroying the Darksaber to put an end to the practice of winning the right to rule by combat so that a capable leader can be chosen. They seem to be setting him up as the type of character that values tradition, but also recognizes when those traditions need to be broken.
@funnylilgalreacts
@funnylilgalreacts 2 года назад
I never thought about Din destroying the Darksaber. That’s interesting. I could almost see Din declaring the traditions of Mandalore are over, then stepping down. I would’ve watched an entire season of nothing but Boba and the Tuskens. The end of the season could’ve been him taking over Jabba palace and it would’ve been established that he wasn’t Boba Fett the bounty hunter anymore. It would’ve been established that he was a freedom fighter, a man of the people, someone with territorial pride. Botched story. I’m still happy we got it.
@jebus7679
@jebus7679 2 года назад
Honestly, Din destroying the Darksaber was only a thought because I couldn't think of a way to make sure the tradition of using it as a right to rule was never revived. But I just thought about the scene where The Armorer melts down the spear. She tells Din that Beskar must only be used to make armor, and that it should not be used to make weapons. The Darksaber's hilt is made of Beskar.

i think this is a 'Bad Batch level' (kinda one below the very best) SW show which has some great chapters (i'm kinda discounting 5 & 6 tbh & just considering 1,2,3,4,7) that at points was fantastic as well as showing us so much stuff we never knew we wanted to see & imo, the finale was pretty much a mirror of the season. some *superb* Star Wars moments but as a whole piece, not something you'd go back to first. i'd say i was whelmed by it, happy we got it & ready for whatever comes next. @@funnylilgalreacts yep, totally get that and it did feel a bit missed-opportunity. agree re it being a kinda primer for other stuff too. there are a ton of loose ends from this series & it appears that one thing Favreau has picked up from Filoni is that seed-planting along the way pays off massively in the long run & regardless of this being a middlling show, they've certainly planted a good few. as a finale it was always gonna suffer from being After the Lord Mayor's Show, based purely on 5&6 but I'm ok with waiting to see what sprouts from it.
@Cjohnson725
@Cjohnson725 2 года назад
The title of the show doesn't bother me being called "The Book of Boba Fett" I think the whole season was Boba centric especially the first few episodes with the back story, but in any book we sometimes get a few chapters here and there that are not about the main characters. With episodes 5/6 we got Mando and Grogu storylines because in the end they both played a role in the battle for Mos Espa so having them introduce in their own chapters to me made sense and didn't take away from the story of Boba. Yes the Mods are definitly out of place hopefully in season 2 they become a little more Tatooine'y. I think Boba's character interacts with so many other Star Wars characters and they will always be in and out of his storyline. Great watching your reactions all season your knowledge and enthusiam is enjoyable! Another great installement into the Star Wars Universe which we are all very happy about!

After recently binging (and loving) Cobra Kai, I came across your channel, which I'm happy to say is now my go-to for all first reactions. As for this Boba Fett finale, there was a lot to like but not much to love. They had only one chance to do the Mando-Grogu reunion, and IMHO they blew it.

This is a classic western movie from beginning to end, except eps 5 and 6. And for that this finale does exactly what it is supposed to do and I'm here for it. Is it deep or mythic, no, but it delivered on what it promised and I was here for it because that is what I thought I was watching from the first episode (seems that many didn't realize that and hoped for something else). It had the indigenous people that save the hero and gets slaughtered for it. We have the hero who is tired of the life that was chosen for him and wants to go legit, settle down and start something new and more fair on a dusty piece of land. There is the moneyed syndicate who will commit any crime to ensure their profits. There are the locals, in this case the mods, who are slightly helpful but always annoying. The hired gun for the bad guys who has a history with the hero, and is taken down because he doesn't realize the hero has learned new skills thanks to events earlier in the story. Then we have the other expert gunslingers who sign up to help a fellow outsider because they believe his cause is worth it. Given that your fav eps were 5 and 6, which were purely Star Wars storytelling (I agree they were awesome) rather than a western, it seems to me that you may not be a fan of the genre. And it may deserve criticism for not subverting the genre, but I had a good time...and really that's all I need from Star Wars, if I get more than that (and almost always do) then all the better. I will always love this series for all the Fennec Shand we got, and really hope we get much more of her, live and animated! I would also love to learn more about that Tusken tribe, in any medium, comic or book or webseries. Now we nailbite until Obi-Wan, which is most likely going to be more the type of Star Wars storytelling that we have come to expect.

I actually liked the western aspect of it. I agree the story has marks it hits, but it didn’t feel fluid, it felt rushed. I definitely wanted more time with the Tuskens. I think it would’ve made his change from ruthless bounty hunter to sympathetic leader more palatable. The transition from one to the other was too quick. I loved 5 and 6 because it was a continuation of Mandos story, there was still character building but we know that guy. Boba we are getting to know and his character build felt odd. I’m not upset or sad with this season. I enjoyed even with its faults, but it’s not my favorite Star Wars content. Episode 6 was a treat and I’ll cherish a lot of those moments.
@theDaoistBean
@theDaoistBean 2 года назад
@@funnylilgalreacts I don't disagree about the time with the Tuskens, but it seems to me that they put in years with them in order to leave room for future storytelling, which will fill in and add weight to this story...just as Star Wars has done so often and from the beginning with Obi-Wan's 'I knew your father' speech. There is certainly a lot of story left with the Tusken warrior alone!

If I’m going to be completely honest, for a FINALE episode I did not like it. I would have liked it if it wasn’t a finale episode and just a regular episode. I’m not one to knit pick but I needed a lot more in terms of the plot. No main villain? Who’s running the pykes? No Crimson dawn? No Qira? I didn’t understand the entire plot of the second half of Book of Boba. I loved episode 5 and 6 but after watching those episodes and watching this one it’s almost day and night. For a (Star Wars show) it was amazing and I give it an 8/10. Action sequences 7/10. The entire season (plot) 3/10. Also the post credit scene was the lamest thing I’ve seen lol. Idk about Robert Rodriguez directing an future book of boba episode.
@KthulhuXxx
@KthulhuXxx 2 года назад
I don't feel like anyone needs to be running the pykes...they're their own crime syndicate (akin to the Hutts), one that seems to be on the ascent. I feel like shoving a "bigger villain" in just to act as fanservice would be kinda detrimental.
@HOODCHRYMER
@HOODCHRYMER 2 года назад
@@KthulhuXxx I would agree if they weren’t hyping the “war” to be something big. From the start of Boba, they’ve been hyping up this so called “going to war”, to only fighting two big droidikeas the entire time. The Pykes were shit, as well as the crews that turned on Boba. The hype wasn’t there at all.

I agree with you, almost completely, especially about the title. Good call, The Mandalorian: A Tatooine Story. I actually kind of like that. The action was a LOT better than the first FOUR episodes. Boba Fett was better here, than those episodes, for sure. I agree too that it seemed a BIT too small in scale. It wasn't a war, but a squirmish. I was surprised that Grogu picked the Beskar chainmail. Glad that he did, but does that mean that we won't see Luke anymore. Hope not. Really surprised that Cad Bane is dead, though I'm glad that it WAS Boba Fett that finished him off, especially using a Tusken Raider style fighting move. Good on him. I don't think ALL the Tuskens are dead, but the tribe that was near Mos Espa. I would think that there are MANY tribes all over Tatooine. Though, they probably wouldn't know Boba Fett, since he was incorporated into THAT specific tribe. I had fun with this episode, though I could see that it felt LESS than the previous episodes directed by Bryce Dallas Howard and Dave Filoni. First seasons are not always good...it sometimes takes a few seasons to find their stride. I had fun, for the most part (like you, I try to stick to the thinks that I liked, NOT nitpick the things that I didn't like). I hope that they do bring The Bad Batch, to see Temura as a Clone. Would love to see Omega. Wonder what she would look like, too. Tracy Ulman or Amy Sedaris? Boba Fett should play to his strengths. Maybe he doesn't want to be a Bounty Hunter anymore, maybe he should teach. I think he should pop in and out of other seasons, but not have another season. I would love to see Bo Katan to rule Mandalore. Sabine would be great, too. Either one. Obi Wan Kenobi is my most anticipated. I'm also excited for Andor (though, in true Star Wars fashion, we already know what happens). Others shows that are interesting, Ahsoka (bc of the Thrawn and Ezra connection) and Acolyte (being the first Dark Side protagonist show). As always, thanks for the honest reaction.

I loved watching your reactions throughout this and I 100% get where you are coming from in this. For me though I think the flashbacks and the Mando episodes were the best of the lot though. Book of Side Characters was probably a better name honestly. The only time Boba felt like Boba for me was when he was gunning down the biker gang and maybe the fight with Cad? A lot of the show made Boba look stupid honestly...From Fennec explaining how Tatooine works to him expecting crime families to honor their deals, from him forgetting his jet pack(during the first attempt on his life) to forgetting his SHIP in the final episode. The rancor was AMAZING to see but it felt like his ship would have been a LOT more useful. The mods felt they fit more on Coruscant than on Tatooine. I really wasn't a huge fan of everyone talking down to Boba in the show, literally everyone. He was the most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy and yet this is what people do? When the Mod pointed out they needed to defend the people from the Pyke gang I wanted to scream "But they are there for BOBA if you go to the fortress they have to come after you."
@DanteShadowfall

All this said though...I think they are setting up for Boba to move on. When the Armorer talks to Mando she mentions that in legend the great Mythosaur rises up and leads mandolorians into a new age then talks about how they all died out/only exist in myth now. The Mythosaur is Boba's clan symbol. My guess is they are setting up for him to leave Tatooine and rule mandolore at some point.

@@funnylilgalreacts first, there would be zero reason for an astromech droid to know of Grogu, when Anakin didn't know about Grogu, and R2 was Anakins droid. Anakin going around killing children. Also R2 would have to know about Grogu when only a few at the Temple did. R2 was owned by Padme and not the Jedi. So, R2 would have to know about him, where he was, how to find him, where to take him, and all without Anakin finding out. Plus getting back to C3P0 on time. It would extremely unlikely to have a contingency plan that involved a droid that may not even be present at the time. A Temple janitor would be in a better position to help Grogu. Mace Windu, or someone like him, is the most logical choice. However, whomever takes care of Grogu, is the most practical choice.

Let's call it like it is.. The Rodriguez directed episodes were pretty awful. So much potential to work with and we got sloppy repetitive action, god awful directing, and predictable sequences. In ep 7, there must have been 10 minutes just dedicated to failed shooting of the megadroid shield. After 5 laser hits I'm like.. ok I get it, the shield is working.. try something else. But after 100 laser hits I'm throwing shit at my screen.. enough already! The biker gang as usual just looks so out of place with star wars. They look like an adaptation of a bad 1950's sci-fi comic book and their action sequences were pathetic. Grogu was underused in the episode. Putting the Rancor to sleep? How about Grogu does a force jump on the Rancor and uses a mind trick to control him and take out some baddies? I'm hardly a genius, but doesn't that sound better? Cad Bane dying had my torn when I shouldn't need to be torn. We finally have a real menacing character, the most dangerous bounty hunter in the galaxy, and Boba in a prone position beats him with a gaffi stick? Not buying that either. I think most fans will agree that Filoni is king and he should just be given the reigns going forward. In my view he's the only one that understands the history, the culture and the essence of Star Wars, all done in an entertaining fan-service way. To funnylilgalreacts.. you are awesome and I love you. I'd kill to sit and watch anything SW with you and chill with some beer and popcorn. Keep it going!

The Disney Star Wars universe, instead of expanding, just filled the universe up with more dribbly dog shit. "Who saw this coming?"
