Quick Update for Season 5: The reboot has been cancelled by HBO Max and will not air at this time. They are still currently trying to figure out a way to bring the show back, but as of February 2022, there is no further update on rebooting the show. Do you think the show will ever come back?
Don't think so. Not only has John Witherspoon passed away, but Regina king's son passed away as well. Gonna take a long time for her to recover from that. :( Highly unlikely
Just want to say RIP to John Witherspoon aka Grandad. He died late last night. Thank you for the extrordinary laughs throughout my childhood with The Boondocks, Friday and countless other films. You won't be forgotten here on this video.
Of all the openings Season 1 has always been my favorite. I just love the final shot of Huey and Riley standing next to each other. They look like they mean serious business.
lol this show is just great. idc how racist it is or isn't, it's all satire and I get that. it's not like anyone watching this show (or making it for that matter) is actually racist and holds racist beliefs
+Steve Jobs And *The Proud Family* if you think about it carefully. .... whoops. I dropped a Potato! Come forth, almighty 1000 comments of idiots who think they know what they're talking about and can refute my statement with their version of the truth!
I am the stone that the builder refused I am the visual the inspiration to make the ladies sing the blues Im the spark that makes your idea bright The same spark thats lights the dark So you can know your left from your right I am the ballot in your box , the bullet in the gun The inner glow to let you know to call your brother son The story that just begun , the promise of whats to come And i will remain a soldier til the war is won Chop Chop Chop judo flip Chop Chop Chop judo flip Chop Chop Chop judo flip Chop Chop Chop....
No I know I what he meant. It was inspired to be drawn that way. I was referring to his second statement "Yet, this show is nothing like an anime". He never stated it was an anime in his very first statement, but his second sentence contradicts it.
troll1367 I love that Version. especially the brass part. I tried playing it, me and my friends (From Left to Right) Timmy - Trombone Teddy -Trombone Barney ( Me) - Baritone Saxophone/Piano Danny - Trumpet Cosby (Not Bill Cosby) -Trumpet Rodney - Baritone Saxophone Kyle - Bass Guitar BJ - Drums Lewis - Tenor Saxophone Riff - Tenor Saxophone
all!! already we know that the fourth season is not it great thing because the other temples are better not see more 4 season and judging that is garbage that depends on you friend ?!
I really got hooked at 00:05 as I quickly saw that Huey was a smart and driven, principled, and dedicated man. I also quickly saw Riley as the raw and misdirected youth.
0:44 Riley is actually moving from his left to his right and the verse go “...so that you can know your left from your right...” didn’t notice till now🤯
The problem is that the voice actor for grandad, john witherspoon, died which wouldve made it impossible to bring grandad back without an impersonator or new voice actor which is kind of in bad taste. However I think a better alternative would be a sequel that takes place in the modern day with Huey and Riley being adults and grandad unfortunately dying from old age.
Only if Aaron Carter was still working on it. The dark times are when you want to bring the sharpest blade... If Aaron Carter sliced it up with a 5th season... You better believe I would support it.
Just because season 4 was shit doesn’t mean the intro was bad. I think the visuals for Huey and grandad are the best out of all the intros. Riley’s kind of made him look weak af. The music sounds the same to 3s.
Love this show. The ending of the season 4 intro though, is absolutely terrifying. The art style of their faces have changed. And look at Granddad’s face 😨😂😂
hehee.. i will love to see that. Aaron is very creative. it is sad that the season stopped and he did not get to do season 4 as how he wanted. they always take great shows of tv
When it came to the character intros, Season 1 did it best. Love the silhouettes, the prison mug shots and the sketchy animations. Season 1 always felt..timeless.
Used to walk through the hallway at school screaming ‘chop chop chop judo flip’ and my homies would hear me and randomly do the piano melody 😂 I miss high school man
But for season 4, the music at the beginning starts BEFORE you see Huey's head turn so it didn't mix as well with the rhythm. Usually the kick with Huey & Ruckus at 2:04 and the freemans' faces popping up at 2:05 are on-beat but they aren't. But as you can see for Seasons 2 and 3, their sky-high kick (1:01 & 1:32) and the freemans' faces popping up is on beat (1:02 & 1:33) because the music begins after Huey turns his head at the beginning.
It's sad that the creator of this amazing show got fired before the 4th season...not just for the fact he lost the rights to something HE made but he was working on it since the 1996 with comic strips that means from the 1996- 2009(10) this was HIS until someone was like Haha bye bye He's said that it was mutual but still
This whole situation is blown out of proportion lol. He didn't return only because he was working on a show called Black Jesus and didn't have time. He was still at Adult Swim. Rodney Barnes, a writer from the first 3 seasons, took over for him.
Season 1 is so chill and it totally matches the vibe of the first season. Always will be my favorite. I used to make sure I would catch the boondocks right when it came on so I could hear that intro
Waking up in my apartment to this was one of things that made my childhood. I can't ever get that feeling back, like watching samurai jack at 2 am. Working endless shifts and all the chaos can make you forget about the little things
Season 1 theme a very artsy style Season 2 theme a significant improvement with the music Season 3 theme a compilation of the first two, very good Season 4 theme same as the third with mostly it's own visuals
Honestly, idfc what people say. This show is anime. And it's one of the best Black animes I had ever watched. It's so HILARIOUS and relateable. As a person who is black, the jokes just get richer every season.
I am the stone that the builder refused I am the visual, the inspiration That made ladies sing the blues I’m the spark that makes your idea bright The same spark that lights the dark so that you can know your left from your right I am the ballot in your box The bullet, in the gun The inner glow that let you know to call your brother son The story that just begun The promise of what’s to come And I’mma remain a soldier, till the war is won won Chop chop chop judo flip (x3) Chop chop chop (x1)
I like how the each verse represents the characters Riley- The stone that the builder refused Huey- The visual, The inspiration Huey- The Spark that makes your idea bright Granddad- the ballot in your box Riley- the bullet in the gun Granddad- the inner glow that calls your brother son Riley- the story that just begun Huey- The promise of what’s to come Granddad- the one who’s gonna remain a soldier till the war is won
i still remember when i used to ask my granny for the comic section to the newspaper so i could read Boondocks... i was geeked when they made it a show lol
Aaron McGruder got screwed over by Sony because they ordered him to write 3 episodes every week and Aaron said no because he can’t write fast and also during that time his wife gave birth to twin daughters so instead Sony fired McGruder and worked on season 4 without him. Aaron was very frustrated that Sony fired him all because he can’t write fast pretty much Sony was trying to over work Aaron but remember that after Season 3 Aaron McGruder sold his right of his show to Sony, Aaron McGruder wanted The Boondocks to last 3 more seasons but didn’t happened.
I am pretty sure if you go on any online sources the majority of them says that he was working on his project black jesus and he couldn't handle directing both series at the same time.
I think i saw it at 11/12 in 2020. my older brother who is like in his lste 20s say the show prob when he was younger. and now im getting the chance to watch it myself.
I saw it around 11-12 years old. My whole family watched the Boondocks. Funny enough, Im actually the first one in the family to discover Boondocks had two more seasons XD
Bro I loved this show so much, everything about it was amazing, the subject matter was always comedic genius, the art style was awesome, voice actors were awesome, it was perfect
I liked the first, second and third season of this show that Aaron McGruder created. Rest in peace John Witherspoon (1942-2019) Thanks for the great laughs and your legacy still lives on forever.
i know this sounds crazy but to me the boondocks reminds me of South Park. because they use satire/controversy, and the kids curse a lot on there. it's kind of funny if you think about it.
This show was better in that it was funny, political without it being so damn obvious and it was hard without being overly edgy, South Park now is for your edgy hidden racist white neckbeard.
Forever a classic, this show gives me so much nostalgia for simpler times in my life as a child and a teen. I miss this show so much, I used to watch it on cable all the time when I was 12 to 14. It gives me so much nostalgia for a time when people weren’t so sensitive with satirical comedy and trying to cancel everyone.
damn i watched this way back when it came out on adult swim and i was like 5-6 years old. Rewatching this gave me some made nostalgia of staying up late fridays and saturdays to watch it. I’m 21 now, makes me wonder why i wanted to grow up so fast. Top 5 shows in my books.
