Here's hope Captain Underpants is a return to form for Dreamworks. Judging from the trailer it has some great potential.

Poor Dreamworks. It's sad to see a great studio that rivals Disney be reduced to lackluster films like. It makes me miss Rugrats for how sophisticated and high brow it was, compared to this.

You're right AniMat, Boss Baby is definitely not the worst animated movie of the year. That title goes to The Emoji Movie and it hasn't even come out yet.

To perfectly describe Tim and The Boss Baby's chemistry in The Boss Baby, it's basically Max and Duke's chemistry in The Secret Life of Pets done wrong. Plus Tim is the epitome of a Woody (Toy Story) rip-off

The thing with the villan, if he makes puppies that will replace babies, those babies would never grow up into adults, therefore ending humanity as we know it. Clever, Dreamworks.

Why, Dreamworks?

Sigh... Remember Prince of Egypt, Spirit, El Dorado, all the Shrek films, Madagascar, Monsters vs Aliens, Kung Fu Panda (and it's sequels), Dragons and DRAGONS II, Rise of the Guardians, all those excellent films rather they be serious adventures or good comedies.... yeah, how on earth did DreamWorks trip over and fall on their face with something the likes of this!? ... And to add, canceling actual good-sounding ideas. Even when they have films like Shark tale, Bee Movie, and Turbo, those are at least entertaining and creative, or at least funny and have a purpose. Maybe I should watch this before making a judgment... but life is too short to have low-quality food once in a while. Hopefully this drop will send DreamWorks into a much BETTER Renaissance -like period in the future!

I still can't look at this Movie without thinking of the Family Guy gag, "Prom Night Dumpster Baby!"

Am I the only one who thought it was just ok? I mean, yes it is dumb and childish, but dang it, the ending almost made me cry.

To me I prefer Alec Baldwin as a barracuda in the SpongeBob movie.

Oh boy, this, Home, Trolls, and Turbo means DreamWorks is falling into the safe, generic kids film schlock instead of at least being creative.

I'm sure this was just the warm-up act for Captain Underpants coming in the summer, which is probably going to be super funny if the trailer showed us anything. I honestly think it's gonna be this years Lego Movie.

I hope he will be respectful to the MLP Movie. Unlike the people who Dislike the teaser trailer.

My Scores: Story: 2/10 (Wow. Never would I thought that DreamWorks would have writing THIS lazy. It was expected, but it somehow reached even lower than all of our expectations) Animation: 6/10 (Like you said, it's similar to Storks in some ways, but compared to Trolls, it's just generic and a letdown) Characters: 3/10 (Same case as Trolls, only two characters really matter here; Tim and "The Alec Baldwin Baby". The voice acting may be good, but it's the fact that the writing makes them so generic and undeveloped that prevents me from bringing this any higher) The Boss Baby - 3/10 REJECTED (This is the sorriest excuse for a DreamWorks movie. I deem it just as bad as Shark Tale, while in some cases, worse. Shame on you, DreamWorks. Captain Underpants better be worth it).

Am I the only one who was concerned that 90% of the humor in this movie was bathroom humor and pop culture references? Seriously, even Alex Baldwin, the saving grace of this movie, was constantly making bathroom jokes and references to his own movies.

Finally saw this movie today. And honestly, I didn’t like it but I found the animation beautiful and creative especially Tim’s fantasies. But the story was dull and predictable and the humor was not there. Definitely did NOT deserve an Academy Award nomination.

The guys who are directing Captain Underpants are the same directors from "Turbo" and "Shark Tale", and the same writer from Captain Underpants is the same writer from "Storks".

The movie felt it was inspired by the rivalry between Pixar And DreamWorks during it’s the early days. Like from Toy Story to Shrek, and Francis E. Francis was inspired by Jeffrey Katzenberg.

I'm just entirely sad that everyone's seeing this movie while GITS tanks at the box office. Sure, it's an animated movie by a well-known animated studio, while GITS i a remake of an old anime movie with a (frankly pretty dumb) controversy behind it... But come on! It just proves that Dreamworks now being a competitor to Disney is nothing but laughable, as nowadays they can only make dumb animated films for kids rather than animated films that both adults and kids alike can enjoy.

The eyes might be a little too big, but the real problem is that the pupils are enormous AT ALL TIMES. It's really unsettling and... unappealing.

I actually saw this today, It was pretty good, surprisingly not that bad, good animation, good laughs, good moral and a pretty Interesting Idea, sure It's cliched and It's not that original, but I did find It pretty good.

One of the students that I know in my school thinks that The Boss Baby is the best movie she's seen in theaters. Kill me now.

Great review! I'm not gonna blame you, I was really disappointed with this movie. I found it bland and kinda predictable. But I did like the 2D animated moments though. :)

A simple premise isn't necessarily a bad thing - it's all about the people behind it. As Ed Catmull (President of Pixar and Disney) has said, “If you give a good idea to a mediocre team, they will screw it up. If you give a mediocre idea to a brilliant team, they will either fix it or throw it away and come up with something better.” People are more important than ideas. Unfortunately, it looks like the Dreamworks team wasn't able to elevate this simple idea, and ended up with something flat and forgettable. Better luck to them on their future films!

It IS a bit depressing though, knowing that Dreamworks has produced movies like Prince of Egypt and How To Train Your Dragon trilogy.....which has memorable characters and absolutely stunning animation, and then we get....this.

To be honest, there isn't a movie this year I remember having serious faith in, except for Storks. The only reason for that being it premiered on my birthday and I didn't want a crappy movie on my birthday.

Did anyone truly expect this to be a decent movie?

No mention of the weird-ness, lack of magic, and movie's attempt to cover that up with the narration? That's kind of an important part of the film, and for all the films faults, it's not exactly creativeness with all this batcrap insanity going around. It's not very good, but frankly far from garbage. Dreamworks has made films on this level, and it's not even their most uncreative. At least it's not literally just Godfather Underwater.
