learning lapel choke is very important exactly as other chokes , one time I was training with one brother, he wear very heavy Judo GI, this Gi was like a shield around his neck , make it so difficult to use a rear chock with him , in this case using lapel chock is the best... human is wearing less and less clothes as they consider nudity as civilization, I think for that reason also martial art will be effected in the general atmosphere, most people were very light shirts special in summer , so I understand when some one say I do not need to learn lapel chokes ...but here coming other question , why I need even to fight with a civil person who wear a t-shirt , usually such fight coming because of my ego , we do not learn martial art to beat people in the vacation, most of martial art masters never enter even one fight in their life . in fact we learn martial art as they said “It is better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war.”.. we need to be ready to protect our countries and families in emergency cases, did you see a fighters with no heavy clothes and shields, a murder who does not were heavy clothes to cover himself...? , you need to learn how to fight with the Gi and to learn how to use the Gi against your opponent, in the real worth fighting 90% you will face a Gi situation...but if you just want to fight for your ego then yes 90% you will face civil people in light T shirt... so I think to learn Gi and no Gi both are important and with Gi is more important and must be.... go on brothers and sisters and for sure learn how to fight with Gi as priority.

This is all across the internet, the anonymity empowers so many people to talk shit in place of rational discourse. It's fine to be of a different opinion, after all it was double-guessing and questioning that bring progress, not reiterating the same old credo, but if you do so in a hostile manner, nobody's getting forward. Disagree? Tell me, and please tell me why. I can then respond why I stick to my opinion or way of doing things, you can tell me why you don't, you can explain why you have your opinion, and even if nobody ends up changing their mind, we'll likely both walk away smarter.

The Gi is real, it's street. No one walks around top and bottomless unless you're at a nudist beach. Gi is more technical and some of the best NoGi grapplers in the game (Marcelo comes to mine) says it's ESSENTIAL to train in the Gi to improve your NoGi. Who knows more? Probably P4P best grappler in the world or you?

This reminds me of training last Monday, we were drilling this choke and I applied it to my partner but I was sure weather it was on or not, turns out he was unconscious before he thought to tap. In retrospect we were lucky but this still makes me chuckle. Thanks for the amazing videos Professor. :)

I think it's because it's one of those chokes where you have to get really deep. Like when you have a fully locked triangle choke, you're applying pressure to your opponent even if you're trying not to. If she had taken a less deep grip at the start, she wouldn't have been able to apply properly when she wanted him to tap, if you see what I mean. That's what I think, anyway.

I wonder why she did not put the leg on the shoulder at the end to inscrease the pressure of the choke, noose goes up, shoulder goes down.
@saetia7
@saetia7 6 лет назад
You can do either method. I personally prefer the leg on the shoulder too but having your leg to the side, the way she does, creates a deeper pocket for them to fall into which makes the choke tighter. Her way uses less strength since it's assisted by gravity rather than your leg muscles which are pushing them down.

in warm areas they wear less clothing in cold areas they wear more clothing but i take the side its better to learn no-gi because regardless if clothes or no clothes the technique works but the people that side with no-gi need to have gichokes n know how to use it and still learn to be sneaky with it because in street people do use clothes too we arnt ever always wearing no clothes so for those situations have a few moves ur really good at great stuff guys! Nice details. There's a lot of 'sneaking' going on. Are the keys to Small Person Jiu Jitsu deception and slickness? If it is, I agree with it. As for Gi v No Gi, ... IMHO, I find training Gi helps my defense and training No-Gi helps my offense. Do you agree?
