There was....... *MONTHBIUS* James and Maso were the true pioneers of the Morbius memes. The Morbineers, if you will.

I think it's important to note that even though Morbius DID make back twice its listed budget and that's usually enough to cover marketing, it was also delayed several times and had like three big marketing pushes when they thought it would come out so its marketing budget is probably much higher than usual for this type of movie

Sony: "People are really showing new appreciation for the old Spider-Man movies because No Way Home made a bajillion dollars. Should we capitalize on this by re-screening them in theaters as a special event, maybe even greenlight a third Andrew Garfield movie since that hashtag is trending? ... Nah. That'd be stupid." Also Sony six months later: "So people have been incessantly mocking Morbius since release and it only barely made a profit. What's that? There's a clearly satirical Morbius hashtag trending and the entire point of the joke is that nobody saw this movie or has any desire to? Quickly! We must give it a second theater run!" I get that Sony was maybe trying to look "cool" by being in on the joke, but they went about it by completely missing the joke. Nobody cares about Morbius. It's trending ironically. And since when have memes ever successfully translated into actual mainstream success?

How did you NOT mention the great performances of young Grace Mallory and young Stan Edgar during the Iran/Contra sequence? The actress appears to have studied directly with Laila Robins and young Stan at least studied the speech patterns of Giancarlo Esposito. They BOTH brought a lot to the flashback scene and sealed that shit tight.

The difference with Kevin Feige and Peter Jackson is that Feige has been successfully telling Marvel stories, Jackson was purely adapting. Jackson is more closely aligned with David Benioff and Dan Weiss, who were excellent with adapting the material that had already been written, they knew what to cut, how to simplify, how to streamline plots, but the problems began when they were tasked to come up with material that they had to write themselves, that they had not planned for. Feige would easily be able to apply the Marvel formula to DC.

I think you’re spot on with there being no actual Soldier Boy/Homelander killing gun, but Soldier Boy himself being the weapon. On the promotional material they list an energy blast ability and that he can take away the powers of those within his vicinity. Clearly he doesn’t have this ability in the 80s. So I think it’s safe to assume that these powers are something he acquires through Russian nonsense. And if that description is accurate, it definitely sounds like something that could at least really damage Homelander. Also Deep mentions Timothy the octopus is praying. Octopus/squid god? Cthulhu confirmed?

If we’re talking about Switch games I’d check out A Knight’s Quest when it’s on sale for like 5 dollars. It’s buggy as hell and has very janky animation but it’s like a Legend of Zelda game the size of Ocarina of Time… minus one dungeon. Yea. Good game. Great soundtrack.

I love Deadpool in the comics, but not the movies because too many of the jokes are just Deadpool naming things from pop culture without an actual joke. Deadpool 2 really only got two or three genuine laughs out of me. I went back and read some of the old Joe Kelly comics because of you guys and THOSE are super funny. Wish the movies were more like the classic comics.

I think The Boys is easily one of the best superhero shows of all time. The show is depraved, disturbing and cringe inducing in the best way possible, I feel that’s the only way to put it. The shrinking man scene made me full on cringe and fast forward to the end of it. It’s also hilarious that a “Superman” type character forces an “Aquaman” type character to eat an octopus. Absolutely outrageous.

Being the (co-)writer for 50 Shades of Grey is different from the other two as that was an adaptation, and by all accounts it's a slight improvement on the novel, within the constraint of how much control E. L. James had over the script.
