The word “Duppy” comes from Jamaican folklore and is the Jamaican patois word for “evil spirit” or “ghost.” In the UK, the word “duppy” is often used as an insult in Grime culture, meaning to “kill and make non-existent”. daily duppy is just a platform for artists to release music. their trademark is a yellow and black background, and putting helpful visuals on the screen to understand the bars. that’s usually the case, apart from a couple exceptions like this one and jme’s new daily duppy etc.

Duppy is patois for ghost, so a daily lyrical killing. The platform has been going for years. Now they spoon feed most the bars with graphics and even add some where there isnt, looks dope though 😅

wretch's lyricism get's better the more you listen to him. he plays with words a lot but almost everything has at least 2 meanings and he also says words ambiguously sometimes to play into 2 schemes at one. definitely recommend his other daily duppy (no mask) or his Fire in the booth part 5

In the UK we got rappers who can rap rap, but are we better than the US? I’m not sure. It’s easy to say we are when you compare us the the mumble rappers. I’m just glad we’re in the conversation, we’re enriching the culture and there’s genuine competition. 10 years ago we couldn’t have had this conversation.
