I wish I could change class man. Here in Italy we have a class made of only a set of student (25 in mine) and every class have different teacher. For istance a teacher has a number of classes made of 24 students where he teaches the subject. I got average marks of 8.8/10 in only the first 4 months. No teacher gives you a 10/10 exept Math, Phisichs, Science and English. I study mostly Italian, History and History of Arts because they are the only challenging subject where I want a 9/10(the best teacher gives). Althougth education here in italy is really good I get really bored in school. Sometimes I even wish I had chosen a school path involving latin instead of IT cause my IT teacher is a disaster. He went to school only 2 times in the last month. We are doing C and Cpp that I already know(since middleschool from self learning) and he makes me do ex that he gives to the 11th grade(I m in the 10th).They are still easy and repetitive and I get bored really fast, stuff is too easy. I was in love with IT in middleshool but not anymore because of this teacher. I really like learning new stuff and I try to do as much stuff as I can. For ex, I m learning integrals from internet ( in school we are stuck on 2nd grade eqations), I m trying to acheve the B2 certificate with dinstinction in the Cambrige exam, I m learning Chess and I ll have a tournment in the first checkboard of my team next month, I practice triathlon 3 times a week and I still think I can do more. PS I saved an year in school because I was born on jan 2005 so I go to school with 2004s My classmates sucks at leaning
So teachers across the country should leave their classrooms since in most cases, they are the smartest. If you’re the smartest in the class, that means you’re the teacher. You need to teach the class. Add value to others. And in teaching, you are also learning. People forget that.
@@coolpfpbut9505 the most obvious would be timidness to approach someone, ask the questions that pop up in your head. etc. experience with people can make you realize that child-you had a negative ass fantasy which was limiting your interactions with others. (this was the biggest for me) some might not struggle with something like this
The biggest regrets people have in life: 1. Wasting time 2. Procrastinating 3. Overthinking 4. Not investing when you were young 5. Caring about what others think 6. Being too scared to pursue your dreams Once you find your passion and invest yourself in it, you'll achieve great things..
@@younggrasshopper3531 hey man, take the time and learn how to invest in foreign currencies AKA forex. The forex market is the biggest in the world and i recommend looking at Adam Khoos channel on youtube as well as taking his course. This might seem like alot but it is a skill that will last you a lifetime and if you take the time and have the self discipline to teach yourself this, you will never have to work again
Self discipline is the key to success in your life. Without it you’re life will become stale and you will lose respect for yourself. *With discipline the World is yours.*
@Mage Animator I was being somewhat sarcastic, but yes I am well aware you have to earn it. But you also have to search for it because you need to know what you are disciplined for. In other words, simply discipline for disciplines sake is pointless. One must have a passion or an end to pursue. Regardless of our level of self-discipline, the world is only ours for a moment. Then it's over.. for some people making small changes is a lot more difficult because they have different mental States, and it takes time to find the energy and motivation to make a change. Not to mention circumstance and environment. Many people are simply in survival mode
Please allow me to question. What is the difference between "no" which you used in your comment and "not'.They both mean completely same when I transrate it with a sentence to my own language. Im curious to know that.

Reading Robert Greene’s “Mastery” was a huge game changer for me. I feel like it laid out the path and gave me a new perspective on what I’m capable of. I remember having 2 piano teachers, both great musicians and teachers, yet I felt like one was more capable than the other in terms of skill. After reading Mastery, I realized that although both of them were clearly masters of the music, one was a master of the piano and the other was actually a master of creativity. He was a master creator! He was able to compose and improvise new musical ideas on the fly that were unique to him. It just shows that although we might use the same medium, we can express different forms of mastery using that medium.
You're the only youtuber that i actually learn something new from (selfimprovement)./& your vidoes make me truely rethink my mindset and how i look at the world. Keep up the good work.👍
@@wimvandenberg3339 yeah but i prefer this channel. When I watch Matt & Nathaniel's videos i feel like they are just presenting the same ideas like other self improvement channels just from different perspectives over and over again but joey's content is very unique and actually helps /in my opinion
I LOVE your point about setting aside the ego. When you’re becoming the best you can be you have to humble yourself. That means you won’t always be the smartest, most talented or hard working in the room. We can’t see other’s strengths as threats to our own. These are opportunities that we can take to make ourselves BETTER! Excellent video, this channel is a great motivation for my personal growth/ personal finance channel
This video was perfect. Letting go of ego and embracing tedium can be so difficult, but so necessary for true improvement. Self improvement on whatever is almost always a long game.
Lol i have , its truly amazing, its genuinely like an extension of yourself and your barely thinking about it, its kind of like your just flowing and you have this overwhelming feeling of brilliance and completion within your mind and body and whatever task you have infront of you just seems so simple and easy , yet fulfilling. I hope everyone gets to experience it in one way or another, peace and love ✌🏾
no this video is NOT trash! this is everything I needed to hear right now. I just started learning piano again, picked up art as a new hobby, and I my biggest goal this year is to run a marathon. And I was doing it to be GOOD, to be better than others, to do it to accomplish something, basically doing it for all the wrong reasons. Thank you for inspiring me to check my ego, and change my intentions with all of these things!
“I’ve spent my life trying to undo habits-especially habits of thinking. They narrow your interaction with the world. They’re the phrases that come easily to your mind, like: ‘I know what I think,’ or ‘I know what I like,’ or ‘I know what’s going to happen today.’ If you just replace ‘know’ with ‘don’t know,’ then you start to move into the unknown. And that’s where the interesting stuff happens.” - Humans of New York
That state of flow when everything falls into place, is a sweet spot and core of creativity. Releasing videos (or any form of art) whenever you feel satisfied with the result is the ultimate goal of every creator.
This was awesome. Almost drove me to tears realizing what I've been missing for years, and wondering why I haven't found success or support from others as an electronic musician. Even just a musician in general. My ego is dummy thicc. But seriously, though. It's a big issue. I was glued to this video once that was brought up. Thank you.
This is also very similar to the concept of flow, a state of being that yields high levels of productivity in a moderately short span of time. I have described it as a meeting of one's subconscious and conscious actions align toward a common goal, in what comes our in forms such as me right now writing this youtube comment. Flow is an attribute that can be mastered to gain the ability to activate it in times of need. I am a hopeful filmmaker that wants to one day make a video exploring flow's benefits and uses and i really appreciate your high level of video production in all your videos!
@@paolopiga2764 Have you ever had a test or some kind of delivery you have to do to your boss, where you procrastinate, and then you find out that you have very little time to do it and finally end up doing it perfectly, with full focus on the tasks involved, in little time, with super productivity levels? That's entering the flow mode... I first knew this mode when I was in college when studying tests the night before... The thing is it only happened to me when procrastinating because not doing it had a terrible outcome (might be failing the course)... Now after college I've been looking for ways of getting into the flow state on command, I think that's the most difficult part. And I've achieved by blocking all distractions (disabling notifications, blocking websites like youtube in my work hours, leaving social media, etc) and setting hard daily goals and committing to my coworkers to deliver on time.
@@joaquindiaz4108 setting goals is not necessary tho, I've noticed when I play the piano long enough I lose time cognition and some really good things come out. The worst part is that often I immediately forgot what I was doing. But I was referring to another thing that happened, I felt like being in that state all day long
@@paolopiga2764 read Tao Te Ching, the main Daoist work. It doesn't explain flow but to me it seemed almost like it taught me an implicit understanding of flow, so that I can much easier move through life, doing the things that I want to do effortlessly and gracefully. Of course it still doesn't become easy right away but once you start to cultivate Wu Wei (≈no force/ no resistance/ the way), the main principle of the philosophy, things seem to fall into place much easier without the ego forcing anything. It's just wonderful!
Your videos are the best mate. Thanks. 1) Passion. 2) Tao 3) Embrace Tedium. Enjoy it. 4) Find a mentor. A master. I really need self actualization. It's killing me.
The videos he makes take a quite time to make them, but I must say that they are worth it. Glad I found this creator. I feel so motivated and satisfied, watching this film. I think the beauty of filmmaking is in the way it conveys message; he really accomplishes that goal.👍
Dude... You... Just... This video is a cut above all your previous work, and all your previous work was great. You came a step closer to full mastery as you made this video. I am going to damn well read that book, because I read "Peak" by Anders Ericsson and it actually wasn't great. Thank you Joey, you beautiful man you.
Yesterday I was thinking about myself how big my ego is, and how this stops me from doing things in a fully enjoyable way. I am kind of glad to hear your words about this because i know what i thought is true, now that i know the truth i can allow my self to change and become better. Thank you for your videos, they always help me improve even when i doubt them.
This video was probably inspired by Robert Greene's Mastery. It's a must read for people wanting to find their passion and achieve their full potential. The 10,000 hours bit is actually kind of true according to the book. What I remember from reading it, is that a doctor who has worked 5 years in the field can be as good as one 30 years in. The reason behind this is the hours spent learning are actively practicing the craft. You must be concentrated in all 10k hours to harvest the progress. If you skim through the activity, you are not content with it, therefore you do not learn.
That's exactly what lets me push trought hard days and basicaly any task. I always remind myself that "other day" where things were clicking together, where I felt like the gods were taping on my shoulder in approval
THANK YOU FOR BEING ONE OF THE FEW TO ADDRESS MASTERY SPECIFICALLY! Ive seen countless “life changing books” lists and youtube videos. And NOT ONCE have I heard anyone mention Greene’s “Mastery”. In my opinion this piece stands MILES above his more popular works like “48 Laws” and yet doesn’t ever receive the appropriate recognition. I appreciate and I agree with you. Mastery is my favorite book of all time so far.
as a aspiring writer i feel like i listen to my Inner Critic too much so i never published a book because of fear of what people might think of it, and i keep asking myself if it was a good idea to write a book. however, i'm always writing new books (first drafts and some are on my second draft already) and never listen to my Inner Critic when i'm writing that first draft. a first draft to me is like a playhouse where i can write any crap i want, even if its so bad its virtualy almost unreadable, and literaly in the sence of unreadable where there are grammar mistakes galore. its when i'm at the stage of third or fourth draft that i strive to perfection, though this perfection made my first book a ten drafts experience and i'm at the point of hating that book that its scary to get to a publisher with it. also, i never had a real writersblock and when i dont feel like writing, i just do what is easy in the book and get to boring mundane things in the book are write a lot of dialogue for like three or four pages, until finaly i get in the zone and forgetting that i'm writing. as a beginner writer, i have to say, dont be afraid to write, and just start writing, the ideas eventually will come and you can change the bad stuff in the story in another draft but just start writing that first draft. also, your videos are always interesting and i like the way you edit. like the times you talk to the camera, then suddenly that becomes a video thats beeing edited and so on. great edit work. yeah, i say the same things, sorry. your videos are always inspiring for me. keep it going and try to inspirate others like you do now.
I agree with you on the fear part it is the the fear of rejection that your book wont work people wont like it or mahbe if you are like me you would think that people will judge you
I would just like to point out that having self confidence is important too. No not overconfidence or ego but confidence in ones abilities in whatever we are doing. This is especially important when we are taking what we have learnt during the learning phase and applying it in a high pressure environment like a test.
Summary: Mastery is becoming a master at something and this doesn't need a genius it just needs someone willing to put enough time in it (10,000h) and even if it's your passion you'll get bored in the process but eventually you'll reach your goal
@@krejziks3398 that's what the vid says, but i think it's not about time, it's just how hard and creative you are, the harder and smarter you work the better the results
good man - uses logic pro (fuzzy club stage is a good electric piano preset, especially when you roll off the high ends in EQ settings). also I'd like to say your videos kinda saved my GCSE exams (major public exams for 10 subjects taken when you're 16 in the UK). In January I was predicted at least 1 A* (grade above an A in UK, like an A+) and 2 Ds amid a bunch of As, Bs and a few Cs. When I got my official results in August (we did the exams in late May/early June) I got all 10 A*. one memorable point of inspiration was the video you posted about walking the walk and not talking the talk amid some other videos. These acted as those perfectly timed triggers to get the ball rolling, boosting me to execute the plans I had been putting off in motion, and begin tactically fighting the intense procrastination / distraction cycles and habits I had made for myself. There was more to it than that, but for being part of that discipline renaissance I thank you sincerely. Your content is also just really nice to watch man, well edited and well written content. Infact, I'm sure I procrastinated by watching your videos a lot of the time!
You are the best speaker I have found here on RU-vid, idk how I just came across your channel, the authenticity, honesty and really useful information you give is priceless.
i like how chill you and this channel are, you dont proclaim to have all the answers, its refreshing from a lot of the improvement dogma that can be found on youtube
This video's come at the perfect time with me wanting to start a RU-vid channel in documenting my progress in photo editing. The tips in this video will be useful to implement. Thank you 👌🏿
For all those who watched Dragon Ball Z: This reminds me when Gohan had glimpses of his true potential when he was a child. He was able to defeat Cell when he finally mastered his power at Super Saiyan 2, which was a result of his training with Goku.
Was just wondering where you were and if you were okay this morning. Went and watched one of your videos and then you upload one ha. Glad you're okay, Joey 😊
God, I only meant to watch this video for a minute since it has been sitting in my notifications for a while and you just hooked me from the first seconds. And at times I had to pause the video to collect myself in awe of the insights you're giving. It's like you're plugged into the heart of the world, or being itself, or the heart of life.
I'd never sit for hours waiting for inspiration..... I get up and do something else. Then one day BAM it's there. Writing is creativity, and that comes in waves. Forcing it is how we get bad books. :) Mastery is complicated. Some achieve it easier, but it's all perspective as to what is good. Subjective. Thanks for the video
Been struggling with university and the death of my Grandfather. I regularly attend guitar lessons weekly and have since I was young, I've been halfheartedly going for the last two months. This video nearly had me in tears. Thanks dude. I don't want to let myself or that creative energy down.
I like the way you express yourself in the video and the little bits that u got into it to make it more fun and easy going, great job. And the algorithm works for u because u just popped into my recommendations and now u have a new subscriber! Good luck!
I’ve never mastered anything because of my boredom and ego. I hate the initial stage where things are tedious. And even if I get past that stage I look at other people who seem to have mastered the craft and get frustrated when I’m nowhere near their level. Thank you for this video, and all your other videos.
The video really helped me to focus on what I must do and what to leave behind. I figure out my weakness and things to improve upon, but the list was too exaustive and practically not achievable. Upon seeing your video I fugure out what things to master in and what things to reserve for later... :)
ive literally been thinking about this concept, but my mind couldnt put it into words, so its really nice to hear this and it automatically resignates with me, so THANK YOU
You've touched on something here that I've had a fleeting awareness of at times but which was hard to put my finger on, and captured it beautifully. Inspiring. Thank you!
Someone already told me to have an awesome day. I feel like you’re short changing us. I feel like excellent (cost $0.00) would be a bare minimum, but spectacular (cost $0.00) or any other word than one tier above wishing everyone to have a default/neutral day.
You have changed my life. 1 year ago I watched your first ever video, then showed it to a friend and since then we never skipped a new upload even once. I've started reading a lot more (I've never had that habit in my life so I had to start from ground 0) and I started training my focus and trying to live more in the present.
