"Rugby should give people hope", holy heck what a statement. As a die-hard All Blacks fan, I'm so proud South Africa won. They thoroughly deserve (and need) that win.
Yeah man, watched so many of these leading up to the RWC, some of the guests predicted a strong Bok side. Very sober and honest discussions. Love the Kiwi rugby shows :)
What class, you havent been watching this show then, they have dismissed the Boke from day one, go back to previous episodes when they mocked us, esp after the Japan game where I thought we did well, they said " And as usual the Boks bored us to death"....so im sorry im not buying their sudden respect.
They eating humble pie..nothing wrong with that.. on form..people wrote us off..every south African knew 100%that we were going to thump england..that's the difference.. belief against all the odds..
@@sarasonsalas3472 they weren't wrong though were they?. I'm stoked the Springboks won , but learn to take a bit of criticism/stick mate , it's a part of professional Rugby. And don't ever think Kiwis don't respect the hell out of South African Rugby , they have been our greatest foes for 98 years.
Somebody on that panel said they didn't see South Africa beating Wales let alone beating England because they had "plateaued" yet here we are. I'll never forget that. Southa🇿🇦 #strongertogether
Rassie Erasmus is the first coach in my mind that showed me that rugby is a game of twenty three men vs twenty three men across 80plus minutes....his 6/2 split bench was absolutely brilliant....as was his ability to recognise south africas strengths and playing to it....the bok plan was revolutionary and inspiring and peaked at the right time.
"I love the New Zealanders, man you all are so humble." Yeah right and we are also blinkered when it comes to analysing an All Blacks loss. We never, ever seem to have the balls to say that the All Blacks had a crap game or that they played like crap. We never, ever criticize the All Blacks leadership or lack of it. Instead we always seem to talk up the opposition by saying how great they played and how we were beaten by a much better team on the night. We refuse to face the stark reality about the All Blacks and how they actually performed in a match, and by doing so, we are only sowing the seeds for future All Blacks disasters like the one we witnessed in the World Cup semi-final against England.
@@virgil81nz truth is, nz rugby, in my view, has been on downward slide for about two yrs. Boks, if they play their cards right, can dominate rugby for a number of yrs. A great coach and inspirational leader makes a big difference.
As a South African, I honestly feel that this win is bigger than '95. In 1995 there was an air of expectation in SA & it was almost as if we were destined to win it. After Pieter Hendriks rounded Campese in the opener & effectively shut the Aussies out, there was this feeling of belief & dare I say it, expectation. At this years' tournament & especially heading into the final, it was a different ball game. Despite all the bullish pre-match comments from SA supporters, we were collectively nervous & not as confident as some might suggest. Defensively we were always going to match if not better any side at the tournament but besides that we looked one-dimensional & flat footed on attack. Rassie knew this & his strategic planning was monumental. Besides the 6/2 split throughout, Kolisi tracked Underhill & Curry the entire Final & effectively neutralised them at the breakdown & the win was engineered on forward dominance, defence & a collective buy-in from the players. It may have looked like a change of tactics from the Boks, but it was essentially more of the same executed differently & as TB says, the old adage of dominance & defence winning Cups doesn't change. Eddie Jones completely nullified George Ford 's tactical kicking prowess by avoiding the lineout (and I think an admission of such by replacing Ford early in the 2nd half), which contributed significantly to ENG's downfall. Dare I say it, but with the same players & a different coach I don't think the Boks would've got the same result.
I don't understand why Tony Brown is not part of the NZ coaching team - maybe it's not his time but I would be pretty nervous if I had to play his All Blacks team.
@@MartyP-lr7vw Sounds like Jamie Joseph and himself may be building up a good coaching philosophy to the tune of Rassie and Nienaber. I'm sure they will get a chance to coach the All Blacks and I am sure they will do well.
I am a Saffer. Have always had MASSIVE respect for ABs. Fierce on the pitch - Gracious in defeat and still who we look to as the benchmark in consistency and playing full 80 mins and more. This years Rugby championship should be a belter. Cant wait
May I say as a South African and massive springbok supporter I have massive respect for New Zealand and the All Blacks. You guys are the most humble in victory and defeat and we strive to perform consistency in winning like the all blacks. The difference between you guys recieving the bronze medal, gratefull for the 3de place and England being very disrespectfull and rude winning the silver medal just shows the quality of New Zealand. Thanks for the kind words in this show towards our country. We cant wait for the next AB boks game
I am white and I can relate... going to bed hungry, no school shoes, sleeping on the floor. Yes there are white SA that can relate. Well done for making the success you have. I put myself through University as an adult and became a professional. I totally relate
This is easily the most cohesive Springbok team I have ever seen. After watching England's silver medal reaction and how they completely ignored their fans at Heathrow airport I'm convinced that harmonious team culture will play an even greater role in future world cups.
Agent Smith mate I was at Heathrow don’t let the press lie the players stayed for pics, Owen Farrell spent 15 mins behind meeting everybody he was a gentlemen, you can understand not putting a medal on it hurts them
Agent Smith yeah they don’t deserve the stick only couple didn’t wear medals shouldn’t be a big deal, been a great tournament and I would have taken a final, congratulations
Forward domination and defense has always won world cups???? Making the right selections in the team by picking people on current form and not on past reputations, not on sentiment, and not on emotion is what wins world cups. There were people left right out of this All Blacks squad, who on form at the time, should have been there, and there were people selected in this All Blacks squad, who on form at the time, shouldn't have been there. And as far as I'm concerned, that's why we blew it.
@@virgil81nz no, we blew it because we got used to "cynical play" as we like to call it, in fairness it is called cheating and it involves breaking the rules and getting away with it. In that Quarter final, Nigel Owens was put on the spot as he had to choose between letting us "AB's" get away with it again and facing the scrutiny, backlash and wrath of England, something a minnow country can never rely on. You can watch the AB's cheat Canada, Namibia, South Africa in the 2019 World Cup but in that Quarter final the rules were applied and we were running around like headless chickens because we could not remember the rules. We lost so badly that another 15 men on the field could not have saved us. It looked like we were poisoned for real this time.
Won the cup on 3 different continents, won the rugby championship cup and world cup in the same year, lost a pool game but still won the world cup and Win the world cup every 12 years!! GO BOKKE
Another thing is the Springboks never forgot that high tackle by Owen Farrell in 2018 and it was personal for the guys. Therefore England should have anticipated a level of physicality out of this world. Don't piss off the Springboks is the lesson that should be learnt here.
Nothing made me happier than the fact that Kolbe's try made Farrell look like a twat for never learning to use his arms to tackle. He was a cheat against us in 2018, and he disrespected the ABs the week before. So glad he got put in his place.
Alec Castro Jeez, talk about being bitter! I imagine you don’t care about the fact that Owen spent a lot of time with young fans after getting back to the UK. As ever, the media and people such as yourself focus on the bad things England do, and never the good!
@@NuclearCraftMod Still, that shoulder charge / high tackle of Farrell in the last move of that game in 2018 was a shocker and totally cynical. It definitely made the win against England that much sweeter. I'm with Sizwe on this.
@The Dogs Bollox That's up to you, but marginal moments and calls happen in rugby games. One of the first rugby games I ever watched as a young kid was England vs Krige and his team of thugs - that was far worse than just one tackle, but it happens! Anyway, I would be very surprised if any of the Springboks specifically cared about that moment for more than a week.
@Rock Star I agree they should have worn the medals, but that doesn’t change what I said! The only people who dwell on controversial events are the media and fans... players move on and we should follow their example. All teams from time to time, and forgettable sections of fans _all_ of the time, have bouts of toxicity. I’m not interested in the bitter mentality of the commenter above. "Disrepecting" the All Blacks with a smirk while pumped for the ensuing game? Goodness me, shall we grow up? I bet you Kieran Read and his team couldn't care less!
This programme highlights that AB class is embedded in NZ culture of great values and sportsmanship. At the awards Rassie correctly said "we aspire to be like the ABs..." - he was talking about consistency, but we know it's also about commitment, grit and loyalty. I love rugby and the graciousness of the English (Hask, Tinds, et al) and the Kiwi's (JW, JK, MM and the Breakdown team) raises the bar off the field for us in SA.
Great show! South Africa is pumping, even songs were sung in our Parliament and the airport was crazy when the Bokke arrived with The Cup. I think the AB's were gracious in defeat and very classy in the third place playoff. (Unlike England not putting their medals on and not greeting people at the airport like the AB's did). Looking forward to Superugby and especially that 100th test between The Springboks vs The All Blacks!
Paul Fouche congrats to the Boks! Awesome to hear how the win is being received in SA 👍🏾 Can’t wait for the 100th Boks v ABs game 💪🏾🎉 Enjoy the summer, looking forward to Super Rugby kicking off again
Respect to Jeff and his team there. Its always great to hear our boys complimented but you folks did it in a manner that just lifts the standard of commentary. Thanks mesdames et messieurs see you in France.
The springboks are becoming like the All Blacks now. They’re finally adding aura and meaning back into their jersey, going back to the traditional way they play and mastering it just like the All Blacks never stray from their traditional style of counter attack. Rugby championship, a World Cup, and only 1 loss in the year. Incredible.
They won't be able to keep up that consistency. This is a one off, just like 1995. Were they really the best team or did England and NZ just choke when it mattered? Probably the latter.
Rudolph Clench They were pretty consistent after 2007. In 2009 they peaked and beat the All Blacks 3 games in a row. The Springboks team right now is a good mixture of experience and youth. I think they’ll peak in 2 years again when the younger players come into their own and the experienced are still holding on - but the next World Cup they probably won’t do as well just like 2011 when a lot of their players were starting to lose form with age.
The biggest factor that contributes to the Boks success is not the ability to play rugby well, what the world love to ignore is their firm belief in their Creator and that they realize that they can't achieve without the help of their God.
We have quality coaches. Unfortunately, SA Rugby have a poor habit of ignoring them and selecting Meyer's and Cotzee's while ending the contracts of World Cup Winning coaches.
@@jarednel4158 Jake White didn't do much at The Sharks and had Eddie Jones and a Waynes Barnes error to thank for 2007. He had luck where Pieter DeVilliers didn't. We had a better shot in 2011 to be honest.
Kizombeiro Him constantly referring to how hard it was for him as a child when he was brought up post apartheid is proof how he constantly tries to bring up how “disadvantaged” he was....you know nothing hence you spew out BS, oh and since when has he got any right to play this victim card huh idiot ?
@Kizombeiro pay Mark Shaw no attention. People like him still think there was nothing wrong with Apartheid and that black people were better off then as third class citizens.
He gives hope to those discarded and disadvantaged. By the end of the day by the grace of God Kolisi and the Springboks got to lift the Trophy, and nothing @Mark Shaw or anybody else says is gonna change that fact.
all us SA guys secretly hoped for an NZ SA final...England snuck in a win, and then lost in the final, then complained and complained and.....thats why we rather play the AB's, they're always classy even if they lose...
michael aldan whose complaining? Your team were deserved winners and dominated that match. I haven’t heard more than a couple of idiots say anything different. Am I missing something?
I can’t agree. Don’t you think the Irish, Wallabies, All Blacks etc will review their performances and try and work out where they went wrong. I wish they had put the missing episode of this show up, because surely they discussed where NZ went wrong. Maybe it was the shortest show ever? Like JW said, “England were better. See you next week.”
FOMO FUD They’re not making excuses, they’re commenting on what they think went wrong in the final! Most people in England said fair enough, SA were better. Don’t expect that people won’t be disappointed!
not saying they made excuses ("we were stuck in traffic.." ), apart from not wearing their medals they seemed very arrogant in their defeat, almost like it was an injustice, this becomes clearer as SA beat them and not NZ...i really think england need a lesson in humility and sportsmanship
God I want to dislike New Zealand, because of our rivalry. But the simple fact is I can't. We are bound by our love of the game, and a rivalry that few other sports can match. A Springbok/All Black test is the ultimate game of rugby. Nothing compares. We love you New Zealand. You are our brothers in arms. See you next year.
England had the hard task of having to consequetively beat all three southern hemisphere giants to lift the cup. They beat 2 out 3 so congrats and well played to them. (From SA)
@wildebest I sincerely hope you're not a Bok supporter. If you are, stay humble, stay respectful, do our nation proud. Least of all be respectful to the ABs who are without doubt still the world leaders in skilful rugby.
How conveniently no one ever mentions the cancelled pool games, where both Eng and NZ, had 1 less pool game each than South Africa? Secondly England loses a mediocre, at best front rower, in the first 2 minutes of the game, and according to many pundits, that cost them the game. AGAIN, no one mentions we lost a first stringer lock AND hooker halfway through the first half as well, throwing a major spanner in the works for us AS WELL. If we met NZ in the final, we would have beaten them as well.
@@QuinMighty Thats what you said in the opening pool game vs NZ... SA have England to thank for blowing their load against the All blacks which consequently left them with no energy for the final... also SA had possibly the easiest ride ever in RWC history to the final, playing a tier 2 japan and a terrible wales team. They only had to peak for the final, which they did. "Nokesikeleli Africa" = God definitely blessed SA this campaign.
@@QuinMighty you know you wouldn't have beaten the ABs in the Final. They had already beaten you. You had a nice easy path to the final (Japan and Wales) and played beaten up England
Hate this...Kiwis have too much class. Well done boys, we'll see you for the usual gladiator games this year. No doubt it will be massive... as always. Thanks for supporting us boys, we'd have done the same. So much love and respect!!!
Was a humbling experience watching and meeting some of the bokke after the match.....bravo for what they have achieved from a disappointed Englishman 😃🇿🇦🏆🏴
How was it to meet the boks I got engaged in March so could not afford to go watch the RWC but I'm still waiting to meet someone who went to Japan and hear their stories
SA will be looking forward to hosting the Lions in a few years with presumably quite a few English players. Thank you for your gracious comment, England's time for their next RWC win will come.
Experience mattered at knock out time, leaving the experienced vets on the bench and going with rookies who have never played at this level was ABs demise against England..
Fully agreed bro dissapointing selection but here we still stand hard and proud no matter what win or lose that bronze was like Gold proud of our boys and proud of our small nation just looking back in 07 rwc quarters highlights daaaam weren't we robbed with that big by miles forward pass but again we stood strong by our boys no matter the situation all black for life.
Bro i was smiling when England won the semis ....All the nerves disappeared....As Rassie said we want to be the All Blacks...England would never come close to the boks
Thanks All Black channel to Goldie and the crew - We are all so happy the Boks won - Thanks for bringing it in the pool stages as only you can - We will enjoy this victory for a while and will be soon back to training - As a Saffer I can say that you guys play exceptional rugby and has set the bar to where all teams are measured - And that's coming from a country with 4 mil people -WOW just WOW - You can be very very proud of your rugby team and your nation - We all are actually fans of your style - (beautiful running rugby) - Well done and looking forward to 2023 - Fran, Cape Town
Great to see the Boks leveraging their win by sharing great messages, their country needs this unity building experience probably more than any nation at the cup. Unfortunate for ABs we didn't have that inner development to prevail in the high stakes must win moments even though we have at least as much outer potential in terms speed, skill and strength as the Boks. It seems experienced players perform better under high stakes pressure situations than those who are new and in form but don't have that seasoned high pressure experience.
@@ShingiSamudzi it's not a negative narrative, it's looking at areas where they can improve...so it's a positive narrative #perspective ....not reflecting on where we can improve we become egotistic which creates more negativity and worse performance. Besides ABs didn't care about winning the Rugby Championship this year they just wanted to win when it counts which they still have room for improvement.
Was watching these videos again. i can speak for most South africa. We love the All blacks with your beautiful dangerous line breaks always have respect for NZl good luck for the final 2023
Chur brother see you gentlemen again next year thanks for always supporting boks and giving us game time you beat us hard 2017 but always kept your respect never wrote the boks off which is what the players needed to hear that they are being expected even if they nolonger a threat ..long live the long white cloud
I'm South African, can someone please explain 32:18 please looks fun, or drop links of more of this type of chanting, sorry if chanting is not the right word, i'm just really intrigued
As a South African, that's why I love New zealanders and Australia. We all are foes in Rugby and Cricket, but we have respect for each other. Yes we talk trash about each other but we always support each other. I just watched a video about the final, where the Irish tried to talk down South Africa rugby world cup win. South Africa Champions 1995 2007 2019 New Zealand Champions 1987 2011 2015 Australia Champions 1991 1999 Ireland champions- zero Semi final- zero
Great questions & analysis from all of the contributors. The RWC brings South Africans together on an emotional level only but politically there will always be resentment & hatred & division, probably for eternity
Siya Kolisi .. a black captain, who earned his colours to lead, along the coach Rassie Erasmus, these two individuals unified the team to dominate the world cup. Well done Mntase!! Never would I have thought that one of our own would bring the cup home.😭🙌🏾
Not sure what the problem is. It's a historic moment for everyone that the Springboks won. Yes, he's black, the first captain of my race to lead the Springboks to victory. Very symbolic and significant for the nation. Unfortunately, you don't get it.
@@bongangombane4926 what would now be really good for the country is a white bafana bafana captain, as a matter of fact player at least! Would that not be just awesome? I wonder if it is in making? 🤔
Phologo Pheko they had no choice this time around. Refused to mention or congratulate SA when we won the Rugby Championship... not in the spirit of the game.
I was lucky to see Mills play for Kelstons Boys High at 15 at the inaugural World Schools Rugby festival in Zimbabwe 1998 at Prince Edward School. What a player! Don't ask about the results for the mock exams that year, with rugby on tap all day.
Good show, guys. Tony spoke many words of wisdom. I personally think that the selections the All Blacks made had a big impact in the semi's, but hindsight is always 20/20. Well done for them to accept the Bronze Medal with class. Maybe they can teach the English a little bit about sportsmanship. So much for a Northern Hemisphere resurgence. I don't see Ireland and Wales being as strong next year. Speaking of, a new era of All Blacks awaits next year. As a South African supporter I'm very interested to see what will happen in the Rugby Championship. New coaches for the All Blacks, Wallabies and Springboks.
Tony Brown doesn t want To be assistant of razor or Foster. He said that he wants To stay with Jamie To coach the ABS or japan. I hope for the ABS. No Foster please....
My theory ... Rassie played a fairly risky tactical game to reach the final - his strategy was to not give the game away (the potential of the team) ... he did not mind loosing the match against the AB's ... he had a bigger plan. Do you recall the first 15 min of the game? The boks were all over the AB's and then suddenly started kicking possession away. From there it seemed the boks staggered from victory to victory (apart from the minnows) but yet made it to the final, still with those infuriating kicks giving possession away (remember the warm up game SA had with Japan? Rassie afterward admitted that the team had orders to kick possession away to test themselves to the max). When it came to the game that mattered, Rassie played his real game and blew them away. My theory. He is a very shrewd coach.
I am a die hard Springbok fan. I however know that any team which wins the All blacks had a great game and the All blacks had a poor game. As a South African I know the best team in the world is still the All blacks. They had the most wins and the least losses. No team ever can keep on winning and never have a loss. You guys still have the best team in the world.
Just out of curiosity, New Zealand and South Africa are currently tied at 3 World Cups each. Can any persons who has experience from the 87' and 91' world cup, including the South African National squad at those times, let me know how South Africa would of faired if we were allowed to join the world cup? Almost feels hard done by. Interested in the comments Thanks
You guys missed out on lastweeks show so sad long story short the lads praised the english for winning but then the whole attention was onwards 1 loss uh well defeat with pride, wales was the talk and how important the bronze medal is and to achieve by playing the players who play in their right positions and players that actually played england last year 2018 autumn test and actually know what the english can bring! their whole focus and talk was wales their next game so you guys aint missed much buddys
The overseas thing works for South Africa because they've got much higher number of professionals plying their trade in South Africa. We need to let players leave to allow a steady flow upward to the top table, this is something Rassie noticed while coaching Ireland. This way we had players playing top European rugby and top super rugby, he had a far larger sample of players to pick from then say if you're Australia and you're only picking from the 4 super rugby franchises. Im not sure if New Zealand has the player base for this to work, they have built a good number of super rugby franchises that play excellent rugby and they have a steady flow of talent that is enough to supplement those teams with a handful leaving for overseas each year. Therefore the system is implemented through those teams and the players all get a shot. If they allowed players selection and they left they would probably lose half their great super rugby players to lucrative deals overseas. The black jersey is the only thing that trumps making coin for kiwi players
agz471 Lots of white players have gone through more than this black captain, the mere fact that he was given the chance to be the captain shows how much opportunity he was given....oh and by the way, did I fail to mention how racist South Africa is to select a black captain, colour should have zero baring on team selection yet it is....make a movie about that you dumb shit

All Blacks come 3rd by miles after beating the eventual winners in their pool match. Results in full independent enquiry which will no doubt lead to a fantastic plan based on solid foundations. Wallabies never look like a chance, come 'who cares we were that far behind' and Rugby Australia launches their own in-house assessment into why RA isn't responsible for the demise of the Wallabies (and rugby in Australia more broadly). At least the cup stays in The South. Well done Boks. Well done.
AB’s played the wrong team and the wrong game plan. I still can’t understand how they lost against England. Hansie Cronjé came to mind and is is my most logical explanation.
I tipped the boks from june im a scarlets fsn so we knew that the boks had finally got the man they needed plus their best talent back and here is the twist ...is New Zealand far too insular and that their playing pool needs more exposure to the world ??
