Fun Fact: Elsa Lanchester said that her spitting, hissing performance as the bride was inspired by the swans in Regent's Park, London. "They're really very nasty creatures," she said.

Great movie...some notes: she's the only universal monster that never killed anyone, the original ending had doctor f dying and you can still see him in the destruction scene, and "septimus Pretorius" means "the royal seven" in latin, ie the 7 deadly sins. And Elsa is dead sexy cute!!

I think my dad and I did this as a double feature with the original. Such a classic and easily the finest Universal sequel ever made. The Bride’s look is a classic design and I like Elsa Lanchester having the double role of Mary Shelley and the Bride; I wonder if it was a bit of inspiration for the ‘94 film with Helena Bonham Carter’s Elizabeth being made the Creature’s Bride (yeah not really a dual role, but still)

Love Universal Horror month. Nice job Doc. I loved that Marvel kept the “Universal” feel with Werewolf By Night and really wish they’d try the same thing remaking or doing sequels to the classics. Keep the classic gothic black and white esthetic but modernize the violence and stories. Seeing the beginning of “Renfield” with the old tyme flashbacks shows it can be done.

The Bride of Frankenstein is one of the BEST sequels EVER!!! Everything about this film is amazing!! The cast, score, the look, everything! Karloff brings his best as the monster! Elsa Lanchester is the one and only real Bride of Frankenstein! Colin Clive as the doctor never disappoints. But the best actor of all who steals the movie for me was Ernest Thesiger! Him as the evil scientist was both insane and incredible! Possibly my favorite evil made scientist! The other Frankenstein sequels were good too, but not as good as this one! Even if you don't like "black and white" horror movies, you can't ignore The Bride of Frankenstein! It's a must watch! One of the BEST films to ever exist! That's not a opinion, that's a FACT!

I agree Doctor, when I saw this again about a year ago I thought Elsa lanchester is cute and very attractive playing Mary Shelley. She was the wife of Hollywood actor Charles loughton. The scene between the monster and the blind man was so sad, how they thanked god for bringing them together to become friends because they are so lonely. The scene fades out to a cross hanging above the bed that seems to glow slightly. James whale decided he didn't want that in the scene as he didn't want to be too religious. But the editor disagreed saying that it was very powerful and emotional and it should stay in. James whale ordered it be taken out, but the editor lied to him and by the time Whale saw the first complete version of the movie it was too late. So we have the editor to thank for that last brilliant moment in that scene.

No question BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN is a great film, but I won't jump on the bandwagon that calls it the 'greatest' of the Universal horrors. For me, that designation is reserved for DRACULA, which is genuinely eerie and dreamlike. BRIDE is a bit too heavy on humor and religious symbolism.

I love this movie, I don't know why. It's very cheesey but the look of the film surpasses the first. It's just dripping in style. I mean just look at the Monster Bride's costume, it's the simplest Goth Bride's wedding gown. It is funny that the most accurate film adaptation of the book is the Kenneth Branagh's movie, and even that couldn't help but actually put in the Bride of the monster into the ending, surely as an homage to this movie.
