The best TV series of the past 20 years, and Sofia Helin is just brilliant in it, she portrays so much by doing so little, a fantastic actress. I binge-watched all four series, and I wish there was going to be a fifth.
I was so upset when Martin got put away for murder. I genuinely wanted to go to Denmark and shout at him for being so stupid! Awesome actor and obviously a lovely bloke. Great series 👌
I agree. Charlie State and Susana Reid are shit. They should have had Bill Turnball and Louise Minchin interviewing. The Bridge is a fantastic drama. It's shameful that the U.S (the bridge US) and the U.K / France (the Tunnel) have ripped off the format. An amazing drama like Bron / Broen doesn't need to be adapted; it's fine how it is!
YuliaK I don't think Kim speaks very well English for a Dane. A lot of older people don't speak English very well, but people around Kim's age are usually better than that. In Denmark - and Sweden too - we have extensive English teaching, so there's honestly much to applaud. :)
It is SO strange seeing Sofia smile! I'm totally unprepared for that. I feel like I've gotten to know Saga and I understand her mannerisms and her sort of cut-off personality. I don't know who this "Sofia" person is. haha
The Bridge (Broen) is definitely the best detective series I have ever watched; and Sofia Helin is a brilliant, insightful actress who develops her character with greater depth each season. And Sofia has a wonderful heart for helping people. I highly recommend watching the series 1-4 in succession; just keep in mind that the last two episodes of Season 4 are among the top 2 hours I have *ever* watched on film or TV!
They are both A-dor-able and gosh she has the most perfect features. I would love The Bridge to go on for ever but all good things must come to a timely end - to remain so utterly iconically fantastic.
I love watching Kim's work and the man himself. He just wants to connect with people. I loved hearing how he was supposed to play a small part on killing Eve but after watching Kim and Jodie work off each other, they wrote him into the ongoing part ❤
Watching the woman host posing questions, I have exactly the same feeling when some foreigners asked me, "So, is China different from India?" "Do Chinese speak English (as a common language)?" "Do you have cars in China?"
but on the flip side, the United States (on the northwestern side) isn't that different from Canada (on the southwestern side). I don't know about the rest of Canada, but Seattle is very similar to Vancouver and honestly while I'm listening to the show, I can't ascertain when Danish or Swedish is being spoken, so in my mind they sound very similar.
Excellent actors, great writers, such a powerful script Building a rich web of so many characters without losing the focus on the main script is just amazing. I was glued to the screen.
I enjoyed the Bridge immensely, especially season 1. Sofia Helin played a detective in such an unusual way, she is such a character lacking social skills but extremely focused on the job and outrageously open-minded and straightforward with her colleagues, which kept me watching the episodes one by one for hours. I can not explain why, it just happened. Good bless you, Sofia and yours. Sergey
I've just binge watched them all, having missed them first time around, and must say the whole thing is excellent, plots, acting, scripting, filming etc I doubt if they'll make any more, but a series following Saga's future life would make great tv👍
Missed them the first time around as well. Getting ready to binge watch on Prime Video in the USA. I stumbled upon The Bridge today on RU-vid while watching videos about Wallander starring Krister Henriksson, a show I binge watched several years ago.
awkward at first why did that female interviewer react like that. she made it unnecessarily awkward. And what dumb questions the interviewers ask.. 'do you understand why it's caught on here?', 'has it always been this good in scandinavia?' and 'how come?'
I first saw the U.S. version, which was gripping. I learned by watching short extras with the producers that it was based on a Scandinavian original. I sought it out, and was entranced. I kept picking out where the U.S. version adapted elements of the original to the situation in the U.S., particularly in Season 1 of both (the stories diverged in many ways after that). I enjoyed seeing some sense of Scandinavian culture through the characters. I don't mean just through seeing Saga, but looking at all the characters around her. I enjoyed the show so much, I stuck around for the 4 seasons, catching it wherever I could. I was sorry to see it end.
I loved the bridge and their actors Saga and Martin who are very good ! Waiting for the following next week in France ! I regret Martin’ son August was not saved because he was young ! Much love ❤️ Appoline Marie
Согласна.Испытала такое же наслаждение и восхищение , как и после просмотра сериала "Декстер".В этих сериалах есть что-то неуловимо схожее.Посмотрите, если не видели.
Really good interview. I've always loved Denmark. After watching this, I will move there and find myself someone like Saga. :) x PS. Copenhagen is one of the greatest cities in Europe.
I love 00:49 when the female interviewer goes like "cause I am wearing a dress" and Sofia's voice from the background goes like "yeah, me too..." and the female interviewer makes a stupid face right before they change the topic. Thanks Sofia for for speaking up about this male vs. female sitting positions
It always makes me smile, when the people say, "we talk too fast". That is not true! Every language seems "too fast", if you don't understand something. It is not about the speed, it is about the understanding. Ofcourse there some people everywhere, who are talking really fast, almost ununderstandable speed. When you hear an unfamiliar word or pronunciation, your mind is just stops, and tries to find the meaning. It looks like a big wall, so you don't hear the following words. It takes time, to jump over the missed words. It is same, when you play a music, and you do a mistake. At the beginning, you just jump back and try to correct the bad note(s), but if you are in the orchestra, you cannot do this. You have to keep the rhythm, have to stay with the others. Anyway, today there are 4 series from this film and it was a pleasure for me to watch it! Sofia's acting was brilliant! How she could do that? Fantastic actress!
'why is it such a success?' 'has it happened in Scandinavia before?' 'did they just come together and come up with the story?' 'you use some English swear words!'. Typical. They behave as though the world comes to an end at the shores of England or something. :|
TV FOR ADULTS The Bridge is exceptional indeed, in that it scores on all aspects. Saga is very attractive as a detective (and I'm not just talking looks). She carries the series. Also: the script, acting, scene-setting, and timing are captivating. The set-up in Series 4 where the guy buys the anti-dote delivered by drone (unexpected) rushes to his daughter's side, ..... Wow! It had this viewer sitting on the side of his chair. What a voite-face outcome. And the timing/scene-setting had to be just right to make that work. Some really clever minds behind that series. I'm recommending it all round.
I would love if they find someway to continue this show. It is hands down so much better than the shows in the U.S. The U.S. and the puritanical views don't allow for such cutting films/tv. I would wish for it to be easier to see in the U.S. Only seasons 1&2 on Hulu. I have had to catch season 4 on trips to London for business. I beg that they do not end this show at season 4. Lets start pulling hard for more seasons.
Looking forward to series 3, how Martin will be involved who knows ?.Sarga is such a clever and wonderful character and I love her avocado coloured Porsche :-)
This was unnecessarily awkward as shit. I've seen them being interviewed on other shows/channels and they're so easy going. Typical BBC breakfast - too tightly wound for its own good.
In deference to her majesty I would like all Scandinavian series to be done in english. I am starting to speak Swedish in my sleep and still cannot fathom how the danes pronounce things.
I suspect the director and screenwriter would've contributed a lot more to this discussion. The series is amazing, and to be so consistent takes a lot of talent and hard work.
I would very much like to watch the Danish version of The Killing if I could find it on a streaming platform in the USA. I binge watched the English version several years ago and I liked it a lot.
I love Sofia! It's so odd to see her smile since her character is supposed to be unemotional. Like Sofia said she has emotions but looks for the more logical way of thinking. Saga is a fantastic complex character and The Bridge is a brilliant drama!
Scandinavian TV and movies getting exposure here in the USA too. Just finished both seasons of 'The Bridge'. We have a US version of it here, watched first season. It does not compare, the Swedish version is much better. Can't get enough of crime dramas from over there. Kurt Wallender is good too. All the Dragon Tattoo movies are excellent. We are dropping the ball over here in writing and acting. The US version of 'The Killing' was fair, but would like to see the original (Forbrydelsen). Just read that a third season of 'The bridge' is on BBC4. Got to figure out how to get it here.
Love the characters of Saga and Martin. So frustrated that it has been taken off Netflix!! I only got partway through season 2!!!! Waaaaaah. Was listening carefully for words I could understand with my limited Norwegian.
I do Netflix discs and they have seasons 1-3 on there, however I had to go elsewhere online to find season 4. Whereas I totally enjoy the characters, I think my favorite part is the way it's filmed, simply fantastic.
Oh my God,the hosts were so rude and brusque, particularly the woman. The guests were so lovely and polite......how bloody rude they must think English people are.
Season 3 was great and hard to watch at the same time. I hate it they killed (SPOILER) Hans because Saga really needs him. They did horrible things to Saga. I'm really curious what they will do for the fourth season. I heard it will be the last so I hope they take enough time for everything. Maybe they should do more episode to deal with more personal things too. I liked the way the relationship of Saga and Henrik evolved.
Spoiler! Ha Ha ... The third series just started a repeat run here on BBC4 and Hans was just abducted in ep 2 tonight - I mis-remembered it that he got out alive? So now I am prepared for the worst!
