In Britain we also have historical societies who enact all stages of history. Here I list some of them: 1) Roman Legions because we were once part of That Empire. 2) Viking Warriors because we were once part of a Viking Empire. 3) The English civil war because we once chopped a Kings head off Our King was Charles the !st He was Scottish and it was about Religion NOT THE SCOTS!! 4) WW2 reenactment groups we have masses amounts of history and its the most interesting way of telling the history. There people shouting are also living in the past not in the here and now. They are basically ignorant just as are all people who are battling the Ancient past in todays changed world. The thing thats still the same is human behaviour, its not evolved that much yet. love the USA and Eire and the UK.
The war wasn't instigated over just taxes. The British also forced private citizens to use their homes to house soldiers, the soldiers often times were very oppressive, and there was a naturally disdainful towards the Americans. Such situations are common from Imperial rulers towards their colonies.
the famous term was "taxation without representation", they may have put up taxes but had control of what happened with in their borders rather than a semi-dictatorship across the pond.

@@dogestranding5047 it took 2 world wars to knock Britain off the top spot. The Chinese is knocking you off the top spot just selling you disposable stuff and offering your companies cheap labour, without a shot fired in anger...😋 What we have instead is a 'trade war'...
I find it hilarious that most of the commenters on this video don’t realize that the people shouting back at the regulars are in fact also re-enactors. This is a re-enactment of the British occupation of Boston in 1768. Don’t be so dense.
inspector morse what? There is literally no anti-English sentiments in Boston. I think you may be living in the 1700s. These guys were just pissing off the red coats as a literal joke probably
Stupid people can only see the world from the vantage point of their own little bubble, not unfamiliar events and in context of the time. People forget that at that time in the 1700's, about 85% of the American colonists were either British or British descendants. Yet people view this like it happened today, with Britain and America being completely foreign countries, it wasn't like that back then.
To every person complaining about the crowd. the dudes who yelled “I’ll shoot you” and “where’s our taxes?” etc are reenactors, 1:00 it’s the guy on the right and left of the formation that are doing the yelling, they’re probably yelling at more people dressed up as colonists. They do this every year. When Bostoners are mad they will let you know. You can also tell those were the reenactors by the bad attempts at accents.
These people in these comments arent the brightest. They literally jump on the conclusion of Americans being rude. It was the reenactors the whole time lol!
@@sylamy7457 eh.. wouldn't have been the best word to shout "I'll shoot you" near a child they could have picked a better phrase from the brits back then. Pretty easy to be misunderstood since its 2020 everyone is sensitive and will jump on the gun on hating it right away. Pun intended.
Gotta love seeing this as a Brit. Two things I notice here: First is that the audience is heckling and throwing abuse because these men are representing us Brits back in the 18th century. The second thing I notice is that these men are very clearly not actually British soldiers and thus are Americans (it is just a parade, after all). So this video is literally showing Americans throwing abuse at other Americans as if they're ~250-year-old enemies. Typical Americans. :P
I once went to a castle in Wales and there was a re-enactment going on. There were American tourists there and one of the re-enactors pulled out a mobile phone before the performance to make a quick call. One of the Americans said, "Wow, did they have cell phones in the Middle Ages?". This is no word of a lie!
Mike Benko that’s how they would’ve marched back then. Now in 2000’s.. we have amazing marching which is very strict. Especially within the Royal Infantry as they have the British Grenadier Guards..
@@elicharlton6397 No they wouldn't of marched like that back then! 😂 Especially in the royal infantry!? There's no such regiment! The grenadiers, Irish, Welsh and Scots are a guard regiment also infantry, which have nothing to do with other infantry regiments! (unless they're joined together for strength in war zones etc!) I know this because I'm ex British army 2000-2007 Regiments don't train other regiments on how to march! Every ATR (army training regiment) Will teach soldiers their skills - specifically to their future roles in the british army! For instance a driver in the army won't train a marine! Lol as totally different class of training and totally different jobs they do! So in all your comment is wrong! 🇬🇧
Lol, they never said "The British are coming", they said something more akin to "the regulars are coming", many people forget that this was a British civil war, and yelling "The British are coming" when you are also a British citizen makes no sense xD
Even as a Brit who full recognises the atrocities my country once committed, to say ALL they did was “rape and steal” is completely ignorant/American. The British Empire was almost certainly the second most influential Empire of all time (Roma invicta). Look at it from an unbiased view and weigh it all up with an unbiased point of view. But really, the fact someone with British heritage has a more unbiased opinion than you is pretty ironic 😁
Guys I’m pretty sure they know these aren’t real soldiers, they are just playing along with the “American revolutionary” stereotype they have in their minds. No cosplayers were hurt in the making of this video.
+Thomas Blue fuck you buddy, and fuck your empire. the U.S soldiers were so brave that they fought a nation with much more trained soldiers than themselves and still won, bet your history teachers don't tell you that though. all those over patriotic rule Britain videos. remember one thing, don't tread on me.
sniffer squad Yep, you’re completely wrong.. There are more obese US adults than those who are just overweight. According to a study in The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), in 2008, the obesity rate among adult Americans was estimated at 32.2% for men and 35.5% for women; these rates were roughly confirmed by the CDC again for 2009-2010. Data published as a part of the World Health Organisation (WHO) study in 2014 indicated that 28.1% of adults in the United Kingdom were recognised as clinically obese with a Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than 30. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obesity_in_the_United_Kingdom en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obesity_in_the_United_States

the usa really has forgot where they came from,,, its was british and other european settlers that fought for independance ,from thier own british goverment,, why do you think you all speak english ,,,and always have ? from the days you came from Britain ?
***** Very incorrect, a new study shows that the vast majority of people born on the British Isles are direct ancestors from the Gaelic and Celtic tribes people that lived on these islands long before the influence of the Roman Empire and the invasion of the Saxons. The country itself is Anglo-Saxon, the people are Gaelic.
***** Well that's too bad, because the likelihood is that you're descended from the Gaels. Who's forcing ancestry down anybody's throat? I'm stating a well known fact
***** Well I am Scottish, so that's a little offensive. Ancestry should not affect any country, but no country should forget or diminish its roots, tradition is, in my view, very important for a state and for their people.
Most Americans don't realize the Revolutionary War was mostly our first civil war! There were a lot of colonials fighting one another. Most colonist considered themselves British citizens!
@@lindsey7951 Congress originally offered to remain part of the british empire if they were given representation of some kind. and the majority of the colonists were either neutral or pro-British, especially in New york
What he says is true. It was really about taxes, commerce, the right to issue local currency: economic issues. But the people who rebelled were very much British citizens and not all agreed with the rebellion. The way it's told a bunch of plucky colonists fought for their freedom but it became very much a European war. As it went on military successes swung the pendulum of opinion, but it really was a civil war between British citizens of the then 13 colonies (emigrants from the British Isles) and the crown. It could be called the 2nd British civil war and some of the issues involved in the 1st might even have been present in shaping it. Why was it a European war? Because the colonists had significant French support plus Spanish and Dutch finance. Soldiers need feeding, arming, etc. The first American civil war became a European power struggle. It's ironic Washington, a few years earlier was a Major in the British Army fighting against the French.
I studied this war in University and what always strikes me is that the same elites in charge of the colonies remained the elites in charge of the colonies. They just flew an American flag instead of a British one.
Imagine if the British won against the colonist and one day they expanded like what the Americans did in 1840s and soon conquered both south and North America Britannia would be unstoppable
I was in that march. I will tell you those coats are all wool and hot as hell in the summer heat. The response was great. Thank you for showing the world what we do every year in Boston to show a little about what the colonists had to go up against. It makes our independence that much more amazing. Huzzah to you prank7204. You made us look good!
I may be wrong I think people below are taking it a little too seriously. I don't think the shouting from the crowd is serious, just a few people being smartarses.
Man, I'm American and I came here for a good time. I thought this was a pretty cool joke at first so I was like "hey, let's see the comment section, they'll be chill," for whatever reason only to get British people v.s. Americans (THE SEQUEL) ad-free with the cost of my pride. I thought that British folk and dudes from the U.S. were chill now but guess not lol
Loving the amount of triggered Americans in this comment section. Yes, we will never forget the fact you won a war against us and created a superpower that would last centuries. But never do forget your roots. You all have European ancestry, and no argument you put forth can combat this.
American rebels win a war with massive backing from multiple countries (mainly France) North Vietnamese win against America with the help of multiple countries (mainly China) They got a taste of their own medicine.
I've always want to ride around on a horse, flying the union jack, on the Fourth Of July, while blasting "Rule Britannia" Or "God Save The Queen" On a bluetooth loud speaker.
Boring fact: If this had to do during the 1776. It was yelled originally as *"The "regulars" were coming!"* . since most settlers were british and mixed.
Alec Prange ah yes a great show of American politeness and intelligence. Maybe you wouldn’t be so barbarous and lacking in courtesy, if you still had a monarch. God save the Queen, and god save your country.

@@williamfraser4566 Social Democracy is a great form of governance. It's used in many Nordic countries. Socialism doesn't necessarily need a perfect leader. In fact, even if there was an imperfect leader, then the system would most likely stay the same. This is not true of Communism, however.
Great to see Americans with a sense of humour and a sense of perspective and history. I think one or two were taking it a bit too seriously, but it's all part of the fun. And come on, admit it, the British look damn fine in their red coats! ;)
Many years ago in Chester England an open day at the local army base, a contingent of Americans turned up dressed as the 22nd foot, the Cheshire regiment! ... all dressed and armed with the dress of the regiment of 1775! much to my amazement! after speaking to a few of these guys they told me that the buckskins et al. were completely authentic uniforms of the day! lol it was over 230 years ago and the issues of today are very different. American soldiers came and billeted in England before dropping from parachutes and hitting the beaches of France. The soldiers of the USA and the UK, rightly or wrongly, stand together in Iraq and Afghanistan, there are US airforce bases still in the UK, we were allies in the cold war, are both members of NATO (which was the creation of the US). It's a long time since the citizens of 13 colonies ruled by Queen Victoria's Grandfather.
@@YOGI-kb9tg but there were 'irregulars' on both sides, so saying the regulars are coming assumes you could tell the difference. This term was used all over the.... Then.... British Empire. It progressed to poor people who had to toil in the sunshine rather than lounge about unencumbered by employment.
Plot twist: These are actual British men from the Revolution who are out of their time, and they are staying really cool about not knowing when they are, and they are here to occupy Boston.
