When British-born Michael Gray came to Singapore in the 1980s, the chartered accountant soon became involved in advocating for greater access to services and facilities for the disabled - such as the toilets on Singapore Airlines.
That was just one of his quiet contributions to society’s underprivileged over 40 years. As an unpaid volunteer, he has gone from sitting on the boards of the National Council of Social Service and the Community Chest; to founding SUN-DAC, a first-of-its-kind centre for the intellectually disabled; to serving at the Ang Mo Kio Family Service Centre, and at PAVE, a non-profit dealing with family violence. Host Jo Tan finds out what has driven this naturalised citizen.

Amazing story! these are the true silent heroes of the world - people that do selfless acts to help others and ask for nothing in return.

During 1980 when I m a normal schooling students,I have already aware the society treatment towards intellectually slow or some incapable learning ability students and directly they are sent to MINDS.The first school was around the SIKHS temple along Serangoon Road. It is only now 40 years later they are being treated more fairly n just.

Actually before this stupid pandemic I used to bring disabled people to Singapore and take them back to Malaysia. I had never expected this event to happen. Now I am in Malaysia and the project is not viable.
