So TV bosses, instead of another thing about Anne Boleyn, we need a film or TV series (I know it was in the Tudors) dedicated to the other women who were executed at the hands of Henry VIII, such as Anne Askew and also Jane Boleyn.
There's no Jane Boleyn. If you're talking about Jane Seymour, the third wife, she died of childbirth. It was Catherine Howard who was beheaded because of adultery. For me, not really that of an influential girl. One that deserves a story to be told should be the POV of Queen Mary I and maybe Catherine Parr who was a very influential Protestant.
He probably means Jane Rochford, who was married to George boleyn and executed despite being insane. Anyway there is a film now coming out called firebrand
Thank you for the empathy, great reverence & respect with which you told the story of my 13th great-grandmother's torture & execution. I, myself am an ordained Minister & Protestant. Many blessings to you & yours for keeping the memory of my ancestor, Anne Ayscough alive.
Bad news: According to other docs, the bag of gun powder likely didn’t work -as it was often prepared by amateurs who literally just put it in a soft bag, creating a flash/brief fire and not much else. The gun powder needs to be an enclosed space and have projectiles/shrapnel to explode outward in order to kill instantly (or so some dude on a show said, I know nothing about gunpowder).
@@janbadinski7126 You have the same name as my fav 🌟.I recall trying to watch a Tudor prog on TV years ago.May have been Anne of 1000 days.Anyway,I had to leave the room when the thugs started to torture poor Mark.He was only a kid,but it didn't matter.Men,women,children.All grist to the mill.Remind u of anyone? If Bess of York saw what her son turned into, she'd've been horrified.May she RIP.
Yeah, us Brits certainly came top of the class when it came to the job of killing people! So glad we 'saw the light'. Your video provokes the opposite reactions to the reactions of latter day mentality! I sincerely hope we never, ever go full circle. These so - called 'executions' or state killings, were amongst the most horrible methods ever devised, to end the lives of those unfortunates! Shame on all those involved, from the killers to the blood-hungry, "thick-as-short-plank" crowds that ogled, ghoulishly, the awful scenes before them!
are you serious? No one can ever compare and not even you. What Henry did to her, ISIS did to the humans and NAZIS did to the Jews are all horrible. You can never compare!
@@youareloved2243 I agree what I mean’t was this is just as awful as any modern horror. I think it doesn’t get any more horrible than being tortured on a rack and burned alive.
This story is much more than a woman being executed --------------she died for Jesus and her love for him.... she was ushered into heaven by angels into the lords presence . this I know because of the story told by Jesus about the rich man dying[was a cruel man] and was buried and Lazarus who died and was taken by angels in Abrahams bosom... Old Testament text for the lord presence. but... Henry the 8th, Bloody Mary, and the catholic henchman searching for ppl opposed to the popes teaching...will die like the rich man and have to deal the judgement and the 2nd death...and god help them when they get to that point, because when askew will spend eternity for loving and trusting in christ with her saviour.... the aforementioned will regret the murderous actions of their existence on this planet-- the horrors they will partake of. point of this comment-- read the bible, find the pearl of great price, Jesus. and live in eternity with him .worshipping the lord god.the gift of salvation Jesus gave by the shedding of his blood for your sins. ann was killed for her belief in Jesus and what he has accomplished on the cross. don't expect her murderous contemporaries who were offended by this to be with her. Jesus speaks on the issue of hell much more than heaven--- take note
Her questioners were extremely frustrated by her simple yet structurally sound arguments and qoutations, they just couldnt find any weaknesses in her logic . Barbaric treatment, very much if its time .
And of course no woman could be logical, could she?H8 pretended to be horrified by her treatment.Which he had permitted to happen. If Arthur had lived & Henry had died, maybe things would be been better.Or if Bess of York had lived..?Better still,if H7 had lost the battle.Reminds me of someone else v much in the news at present, who hides behind his hitmen & leads from the back.
I've never understood why ppl hundreds of years ago were so intrigued by horrific torture and execution so much. Some sick minded mfr's back then, I tell you what.
Hoomans never change.Yet they dare to call psychos & others, animals!I sincerely hope Morton & Cranmer,More,Gardner,Bonner & others pay dearly for their vile ways.Men of the church?Ha!
With respect, I totally disagree. Full disclosure :-I’m Australian and never have and never will see the tower IRL. It might be a different matter if the Tower’s tragedies were celebrated or glorified, but I’ve never seen a doco or read anywhere where that happens. Elizabeth the First is celebrated as one of England’s greatest monarchs, and a lot of her life events occurred at the Tower. This applies to many of England’s monarchs in a happier way because it was tradition for the monarch to stay at the Tower before their coronation. The little princes were almost certainly murdered there. Ann Boleyn, Cardinal Wolsey, Thomas More, Catherine Howard and literally countless others were executed there. And yes there were unbearable and untold tortures inflicted there. Although it’s usually said that William the Conqueror(1066 and all that) was responsible for its being built, there are records that there was already a building/s on the site. One can’t imagine the Romans not having a garrison or other military construction on on of the few notable elevations in the area. After the Romans, the Anglos and Saxons undoubtedly still used it as at least an observation post, and perhaps a fortified store area, although there’s no records. However with the Vikings raiding and sometimes settling in Britannia it just seems logical this would have happened. Those times might be called the Dark Ages but that doesn’t mean the population suddenly got stupid. These days it’s home to the Yeomen of the Guard, officially the Monarch’s bodyguard. There’s museum collections and exhibitions, tours telling stories like this, and the Crown Jewels (or a convincing fake thereof) A small matter that shows to me at least how deeply woven into English history and England’s psyche and identity the Tower is…there’s a tradition that if the ravens ever leave the Tower, the monarchy will fall, and England be destroyed, never to rise again. Although the Tower ravens fly free, The Yeoman Sergeant of the Guard is responsible for their presence and well being, and he has aviaries and breeding areas set aside so that if one day there are suddenly no ravens…well, he will be prepared. Unfortunately much of human history is rooted in violence and tragedy. The Basilica in Rome, outside the Vatican, where the Pope blesses the people and addresses the world was the scene of countless numbers of burnings of heretics. Several areas of the Vatican itself were dungeons and torture chambers. Lady Liberty has watched starving, dying and desperate immigrants seeking a home, then dying in agony when there were delays or they were refused entry. Many who were denied entry chose suicide rather than seek return to their homeland. There’s Aztec and Mayan sites soaked in historic blood, and I don’t think I’d should start on Russia’s houses of horror. Also what about Auschwitz? If we start to demolish any building that in its history has known blood and pain within its walls, firstly, there will be very few historic buildings left, and there’ll be nothing left to warn us that our turbulent and bloody past can easily happen again. I’m definitely not alone in feeling it’s vital that when we remember our past, we need to acknowledge and sorrow for the horrors as well as celebrate the achievements. If you’ve made it this far, I’m sorry for the essay. Thank you for the opportunity to engage my brain on a rainy YT afternoon. ETA one of my faults is writing lengthy comments and replies, also very verbose text messages. However I think I’ve broken previous records here. No worries, no one will ever read it. I bet if you’re reading this, you were just scrolling to see how long I could rabbit on! Peace and Hugs from Oz
@@bilindalaw-morley161 Very well said.I was horrified at the thought of the building being destroyed. Its not the building to blame for human greed & cruelty for heaven's sake.BTW,I could write for GB,USA & prob Oz too.My friend says I don't write letters,I write books.LOL.G'd Day.
Why would you say that? They gave her a chance to recant, and she refused, and died about the most painful death possible. If that isn’t a martyr, the word has no meaning.
May your soul Anne☺rest in peace you did nothing wrong you just trust something else even the queen did she didn't die because she was the king's🥸wife. But you were tortured and was executed because you wanna save other lives what Kind heart Risking lives for others🥲🥺 and i thing Henry Pig go to hell after
