Gator McKlusky continues examining the long historic career of the late, great Burt Reynolds. This fifth chapter covers Burt’s theater and it's positive impact on his students. We do a deep dive into his long and loving relationship with Sally Field along with the difficult times they went through. Also, the films “Rough Cut”, “Smokey And The Bandit II” and “The Cannonball Run” are documented in the unique way that has helped make this series a fan favorite.

Yet another outstanding chapter in the late and great Burt Reynolds saga. I truly mean saga, because I now view his career as a long story of heroic achievements. This was a poignant slice into Burt's life which really revealed so much about Burt's intimate side. I also never realized so many famous actors played at his dinner theater. It must have been amazing treat to witness. Loved the cameo at the end highlighting the outtakes during credits. From what I understand it was Smokey and the Bandit II as being an early pioneer of this art. Educational and Outstanding! Looking forward to Chapter 6! Gator out!

hey pal - i m 54 years old and i remember enjoying watching these campy BR movies when i came up . yes they are a bit cheesey , and tacky , and women are portrayed very poorly . these movies are in fact american treasure . your channel and videos are very much fun to watch . thank you !

For everything I know about this man, I never knew he opened his own dinner theater (now I know how he made friends with ALL those actors who we saw in his 80s movies, that's awesome)...and I'd never known he'd started an acting school for young struggling actors. That gave me a whole new level of respect for him. He quietly gave back, and didn't ask for fanfare. 👍

Hey Gator, thank you so much for creating these amazing documentaries of one of my favourite Film Stars. You are truly doing the lord's work, Sir. Being a huge fan of Burt's biography - My Life - you captured the man's spirit and passion and what made him such a singular talent that has never been duplicated since...George Clooney comes the closest in charm and wit. Anyway, your series helped me enormously during the lockdown, as Burt always reminds me of my Father, who passed away, so it gave me a connection to great memories. When is the next chapter!?! Thanks so much for the kind words. I too lost my father and didn't realize how much Burt reminded me of my Dad until after he passed away. Now I think about the 2 of them all the time and how much they were alike. I'm putting the finishing touches on Chapter 6 now. It's the longest in the series, over an hour. Hopefully I can get it released around Thanksgiving. So very much appreciate that you took the time to write. Cheers! Gator

Burt had nothing but nice things to say about Sally and she could not let go of the past and bad mouthed him whenever possible. While their relationship had a lot of issues, her reaming him did not make her look good at all. Her career was on the upswing so she should have just refused to talk about him.

Excellent job again Gator !!!!! Very cool footage and very informative - love the section on his dinner theatre at the beginning of this chapter - as I may have mentioned before, I visited the dinner theatre on February 11, 1981 (being Burt's 45th birthday, he was not there (he was out on the town with Miss Atlanta) so I missed my chance to meet him) - but I did get to meet Jerry Reed (who was arriving at the dinner theatre just as we were leaving) which was very cool !!!!! This chapter was quite interesting also because it covers the very interesting relationship between Burt and the smoking-hot Sally Fields - also, very cool that you got several personal texts back from John Voorman - great job !!!! Keep up the fantastic work Gator - look forward to Chapter 6

Thanks Tom! So cool you got to meet Jerry. I had a bucket list as a kid for meeting my celebrity heroes and got to meet 2 of 3. Jerry was my #4 and never got to see him in person or shake his hand. He is the real “Legend” in the Bandit story in a lot of ways. Removing him from that film would have made it a Trans Am with 3 wheels and no 8-Track player! Cheers! Gator

I hate to break some dreams here...Burt openly admits his public persona, like the way he acted on The Tonight Show, wasn't the real him, look at who is close friends were, the people who taught his students, a bunch of gay guys, a few gay women and a few women who were known for being friends with gay guys. Bert lived more years of his life in the same house with a man than any of the women, Adrienne Barbaux almost outed him in her biography when she spoke about the time when they dated, he was equally cold with Lonnie and his relationship with Sally was equally beard like. Burt was most likely gay...and trust me, it pains me to have to admit that my perception of the ultimate macho man cool guy I idolized as a kid...was a closet case and a fraud. But, it's probably true.

Interesting. But I do know that gay men like to think that heterosexuals are not really heterosexual. Well, most of us are, my friend. I do admit however that a lot of people are bisexual.
