In the vast wilderness around Lake Baikal reside a nomadic people: the Buryats. They live according to their own customs, and their everyday life is defined by shamanism and a strong sense of family. The Buryats lead their lives in harmony with powerful forces of nature: wide open steppes, majestic hills, dense forests, and a vast body of water they call the "Holy Sea": Lake Baikal. For hundreds of years, its western bank has been home to the Buryat family clan, who travel across the land with their traditional yurts and their large herds of cows and horses.
Shamanic rituals and ancestor worship define the lives of these nomads. For them, the natural world has a soul, and trees and rocks hold deep spiritual significance. The holiest place of all is the Shaman Rock on the island of Olchon, where spiritual leaders pay homage to their faith once a year with a cult ritual. Further east, on the other side of Lake Baikal, lies Ulan Ude. With 400,000 inhabitants, it is the largest city in the independent republic, and a third of its residents are Buryats. Shamanism is booming here as well: the town even has its own Shamanic clinic, which treats people using traditional medicine and spiritual ceremonies. The town, which - thanks to international trade and manufacturing - has seen an increase in employment, is undergoing a major upturn. The rapid growth of Ulan Ude is presenting the Buryats with the toughest challenge they have ever faced.

Buryaad ulaskhaa amar mende! Greetings from the Buryaad republic. That's a pretty accurate depiction of the rural way of life in 2000s. Little did change since that time. Although, unfortunately I have to admit that the rural population is still ageing and predominantly unemployed. As you might have noticed, there's a huge problem with our mother tongue being marginalized and replaced by Russian. I'm a young Buryaad man who learnt Buryaad language myself at the age of 17-20 and it's quite a rare case. Most of my peers speak only Russian because the education system and the whole society infrastructure built by the Soviets, undermined minority languages like Buryaad, Sakha, Kalmyk, etc. There's a certain trend for national awakening among the young people like me but certainly that's not enough yet. If you're interested in Buryaad boo murgel (so called shamanism), read a book Bo and Bon by D. Ermakov - there are some deep insights on ancient roots of our traditional beliefs that were common to Mongols, Tibetans, Indo-European pastoralists and other nomadic cultures of Eurasia

Hi! I'm brazilian. Thanks for your input. I will look for that book! ruZZia is a colonialist imperial dictatorial regime. ruZZification is not a new thing, it has been like this for centuries. They try to erase any trace of identity and culture from the peoples in the territories they occupy. Take care of yourself becuase Putrid is looking for meat for his genocidal war against Ukraine.

@@sugarjagar1552 I'm far from an expert here, but the Wiki page for Tengri variously connects Tengri with the Chinese 天(Tian/Ten), the Sumerian Dingir, as well as Dyeus, saying "The Turkic sky god Tengri is strikingly similar to the Indo-European sky god, Dyeus, and the structure of the reconstructed Proto-Indo-European religion is closer to that of the early Turks than to the religion of any people of Near Eastern or Mediterranean antiquity". --- The Sanskrit “Dyu” means “heaven” “sky” “glow” and from this we get the Latin “Deus” meaning “God”. We then have the Sanskrit “Dyu Pita” meaning “father in heaven” and from this comes the Latin “Jupiter” meaning the “father of the Gods” and one of the largest planets within our solar system. ~ In Greece their name for “Jupiter” their “father in heaven” was “Zeus”. Once again we find the source is this Sanskrit “Dyu” which then becomes the Latin “Deus” which in turn becomes the Greek “Zeus”. ~ Not content in providing the Greeks and Romans with the names for their Gods, the Sanskrit “Dyu” also becomes the source of the Latin “Theo” once again meaning “God”. The “Dyu” becomes “Deus” and then the “D” becomes a phonetically similar “TH”, the “EU” becomes “EO”, they drop the “S” and behold the God of “Theo” is born and with it many Avatars such as “Theosophy” “Theist” “Atheist” “Theodicy” “Monotheism” “Theocracy” “Theology” “Pantheon” “Enthusiasm” all of which come from this Sanskrit “Dyu” meaning “heaven”. ~ As well as “Deus” this Sanskrit “Dyu” has provided the European languages with other words such as “Divine” “Divinity” “Agnus Dei” “Adieu” and also Wolfgang Theophilus Mozart who unhappy with his middle name “Theophilus” changed it to the Latin version where the “Theo” becomes “Deus” meaning “God” and the “Philus” becomes “Amare” meaning “to love” hence the worlds greatest composer was known as “Amadeus” meaning “to love God" all provided by this Sanskrit “Dyu” meaning “heaven”. ~ " In the Vedic language we have the foundation, not only of the glowing legends of Hellas (Greece), but of the dark and sombre mythology of the Scandinavian and the Teuton" (Cox, Mythology of the Aryan Nations, I., 52, 53).

I felt disheartened that this video ended so soon. It is interesting to know how much their shaman tradition is familiar to our Hindu tradition. Like chanting mantras, offerings, altars, food and liquor gifts etc. I'm feeling proud of them that they have not left their age old tradition. So many are proud to continue their generations of traditions and customs carrying forward what was taught.

Very very close. On Lake Baikal there is a shamanic holy place on the island of Olkhon. Every year on a certain day all the shamans of Siberia come here. A few years ago a delegation from America even came here

The indigenous peoples of Siberia have never forgotten the traditions of shamanism. Now they increasingly want to live in harmony with spirits and nature. Because people are becoming disillusioned with Christianity and are increasingly turning to their native religion of shamanism. Among the indigenous peoples of Siberia, shamanism is now gaining a second wind.

I love the voice overs!! Reading subtitles distracts from being able to watch what the people are doing, and looking at the surroundings!! With subtitles, I often have to go back and look at the actions happening in the video without the didtraction of the subtiles!! ... Subtitles are a total distraction!!

There are many things in life one does not need to know. Slice seems more interested here and in most of their presentations in the promotion of idolatrous practices and worship than general information. And it is done under the guise of cultural heritage - but it is noting more that old idolatress practices of a good, honorable people that do not know any better.

10And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. 11And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
