This is one of my favorites! I had never seen the video before so that was super cool! If you have a few dollars please consider donating some to the Innocence Project of Florida! charity.gofundme.com/o/en/cam... The Bushy Beard!
Sia has specifically said this song is about her relationship and struggle with her alcoholic father. Hence, the relationship between Maddie and Shia in the video. She cares for him, but then is let down. She is down because of his actions, and he comes back to her sober and loving. She tries to help him but he can't escape the cage of his alcoholism.
The video is open to vary interpretetion but Sia said is about two states of her who fight. I would say her inner child, rebel and pure, and the adult struggling with pain and demons and his own limitations (cage).
Maddie Ziegler was not on So You Think You Can Dance. She was on a show called Dance Moms. She was seen as the "best" dancer on the show lol. Also, she was most known for her facial expressions while dancing.
Shia's last name is pronounced "La-Buff" btw, not boof. Have always loved Maddie, she's such a good dancer. I prefer the "Chandelier" video to this one myself, but it's still a great song and dynamic mv :))
It’s interpretive. I think the parent/child metaphor is good. I think the wild/calm thing is good. Anything you’re stuck with, and have a love/hate relationship, but ultimately leave or move on without it. The parent thing pulls at my heart strings the most. It’s sad when people can’t have a good relationship with their parents, because it will be too late one day. Sometimes parents are jerks. Sometimes you have to live your life without them.
The cage is a metaphor for Sia's mind and she's fighting for her inner peace. Shia LaBeouf plays Sia's dad who suffered from depression. This song is a mental health awareness message.
The video is basically about fighting your inner demons. This song is amazing. Sia is amazing. If you're interested, Frog Leap Studios does an excellent cover of this song. It's worth checking out. Great reaction!
3:00 "So what do you think of the song so far" ?! What kind of question is that ? Why not wait three minutes ?!? XD One piece of advice, save your comments for AFTER the video, you'll have plenty of time.
i get the metaphor. I LUV THIS SONG. My fav Sia song actually. But just creeps me out. If one of the two been closer to age. .......and yeah, in the animal wild life don't matter. BLAH
Some say it's the struggle with her and her abusive father which would account for the age difference. But I think it's the struggle with her growing up
