[Course 1 Lesson 7]
In this lesson we discuss the Japanese connector word DEMO.
This word affects how the Japanese particle WA and GA are used.
As a result it made sense to cover some rules on WA and GA in this video also. Keep your comments helpful!
This video is part of the courses on:
fromzero.com based on the Japanese From Zero! (learnfz.com/JFZamazon) book series written by George Trombley and Yukari Takenaka

I highly back up what he says about reviewing the past lessons! I thought I understood them pretty well the first time around but just to be sure I went back and watched everything again up until this video. There were so many things that became even more clear just because it was reiterated to my brain. There were even concepts I didn't catch the first time that I noticed the second time around. I think it's because your mind has a basic understanding since you've gone over everything once already that when you watch it all a second time you can then focus on more details. I recommend going back and reviewing at 5 video intervals before moving on and repeating the process with the next 5. It really helps.

MilanaMarara I read over the new lesson at night, then the next day trace the hiragana in a supplementary workbook I bought separately (can’t trace in the kindle version of his book) the next morning, then with pencil and paper complete the lesson I read over the previous night, writing down all the new words, then once I finish the lesson I watch his video(s) pertaining to that lesson. I often read over the next lesson the following night, repeating the above steps, completing three lessons in a week on average, then rewatch all his videos I’ve seen over the weekend, and I’ve been progressing for just under three weeks now, and I still feel like I’m forgetting most of it. ;/

@@demonmoonbat1773 I wouldn't worry too much because when you put that much information into your brain in so little time, some is bound to fall out and that's only because you don't have the opportunity to use every word in the book that it gives. That's just the unfortunate truth unless you live in Japan or have a Japanese friend to practice it with

I know quite a bit of stuff already (basics, hiragana, katakana and some kanji) as I've taken Japanese lessons before, but I've learned a lot from this as well and I find the video series really engaging and funny. I was wondering, though, if you've ever heard of or considered doing a course similar to the one that's done on Say Something in Welsh (saysomethinginwelsh.com). I think that would be a really great way of getting the base part of the language down, and all of your other material would be fantastic in teaching grammar, usage, background, etc. It's just a thought.

I am confused if I went to a shop can I say (kore wa nan desu ka) which basically mean (What is this?) to ask about something they sell in the shop or restaurant? If I can should I drop the (wa) or leave it as it is. Also, if I dropped the (wa) or (ga) in any sentence while talking to someone from japan is it ok or is it considered rude. I learn Japanese from many different sources such as websites, apps, books and videos and I saw a video that was about this same sentence it says that people usually drop the (wa) and if u say it, it will sound like u learned from a textbook. @josephmealtfeld5032 7 лет назад
を indicates an object but your eg is subject then don't use を 水が飲みたい I want to drink water in this example 水water is an object so can use を but actually が is used instaed of を. が indicates which word is most important in the sentence so this sentence suggest "I am eager for water! water! water!!!" and more you can use は instead of を but in that case nuance is much different.はsuggest that this statement is only for water 水は飲みたいけどジュースは要らない

So George. Because of your stories about the stupid questions I took 40 seconds of my time to rack my brain for a smart stupid question lol. What I came up with is now pestering my brain though I know the answer is no I'd like you to answer it for me just to be sure. 😒. So は marks the topic and が emphasizes. Ok got it, but in English there are times where the subject or topic is emphasized usually through auditory idiosyncrasies such as overly pronouncing the word or extensive extension of certain parts of the word or the word itself. Does this exist in japanese and if so is it expressed by placing が after は? Is there a set in stone rule against placing the 2 together?

What advice would you give to my older brother who wants to start his luggage bed brand company, he has a patent on it and an LLC, but what business advice would you give. I feel bad that his company hasn't took off yet.

luggage bed brand? Perhaps that is the first problem. I don't know what a luggage bed is. His patent seems worthy of something, but consider this... even the world's most famous brands "Coca Cola", "Toyota" etc spend MILLIONS of dollars each year advertising. It doesn't mean much to have a great product, because a well marketed product will beat you every time. My company is a prime example of limited marketing. He should learn from my mistakes. :-) If he doesn't have talent on his team, and not enough money to hire a team then he absolutely needs to give the right people a stake in his company. It's a hard thing to give up part of your company but if you think about it logically... you are giving away ZERO, because the company doesn't have anything yet. It can only get to be more than ZERO with people willing to give up part of their life to do it. My company succeeds because at 3am in the morning (not kidding) I am working on my company. And I work everyday... EVERY SINGLE DAY. And for the record, I built a new company where I gave away equity just like I said your brother should. Even though I am a certified genius (in my mind I am). I built an entire company from scratch with more revenue than I could ever get from a job. The books, the lessons, the videos, even all the web coding (until recently) were all done by me. YET I still had to give up a percentage of my company for the bigger goal of the new company, because there is a limit what what you can do with brute force.

Well his brand design is a luggage with a bed underneath as a way to roll it up. When you roll it up, you inflate the bed material like an airbed from beneath the luggage. He came up with the idea from his flight travels and seeing people who had delayed flights, ended up sleeping on floors and chairs at the airport, so he came up with a way that people can use a bed from their luggage. He called it the Marti Bed. The patent was helped by a friend of his, who's a lawyer in Florida. Thank you so much for the advice. He's very ambitious with his company and I knew you were the right person to ask. The thing is that his credit is low because of course student loans screwed him up so that's affecting his way to fix his credit.
