In this episode, we find out how many times I can say "power to the wheels" in one video.
In all seriousness, the dog bone mount insert is a must for any new MK6 GTI or GLI owner.

Hello. Great video right here. 👍 and when I installed mine, also experienced smoother shifts as well, even though im it’s DSG. everything feels much more stable even though it’s felt through the cabin only at idle. the dsg clutch engagement from a stop is much more smoother now too. The clutch has a chance to grab so much faster due to the decreased excessive shaking of the engine and transmission if the stock bushings are worn

As someone with a Mk6 that has had experience with motor mounts I’ll say that while the dogbone does the most for reducing wheel hop, you really need the full set to eliminate it. Another thing you should definitely do is replace your lower control arm bushing with the ttrs bushings that are solid rubber. The stock ones also have voids in them that allow for a lot of deflection resulting on wheel hop. I would also replace the dogbone arm itself to a billet one (the ecs one is good) as the stock one is known to snap if you’re launching the car with stiffer mounts. I ended up going back stock new stock engine mounts as the extra vibration really ended up being more of a pain that it was worth for me. My car is stage 1 and it will stay there and for the kind of driving I do, the stiffer mounts where too much most of the time so beware of that. Definitely do the dogbone arm and the LCA bushings though. It will be a noticeable difference.

Thank you for the advice! I plan on swapping all the mounts out for stiffer ones. 034 makes a stock style mount that’s just a bit stiffer so it’s not crazy annoying so I may go that route. And I didn’t realize the dog bone could snap! Thank you for the heads up! Adding it to the list now :)

@@TheParkingLotMechanic I don’t have any personal experience with the 034 mounts but just beware they might not be adequate if you’re pushing more power (stage 2 +). I know of people that have had the actual mounts break but they were big turbo and 034 claims to have resolved the issue. Regardless, they aren’t really meant for high power but should handle stock power or stage 1 with no problems. I had the BFI mounts which a quite a bit stiffer than what 034 offers in their street mount so I kind of wish I would have gone with theirs. The ttrs lower control arms bushings are a must though and they aren’t expensive. Also I would recommend you swap the ECS dogbone insert with the 034 upper and lower inserts. The polyurethane inserts really beat up the stock bushing over time.

Once again, good to know! 034 does have a revised line called Streetsport and Tracksport along with their Dynamic+ line and I have looked at BFI ones as well. I plan on only going to stage 2 with this as it’ll stay my daily for a long time but having the right mounts is needed! I actually just did an upper mount insert recently and will now push up the timeline to getting a new mount! I wasn’t a huge fan of just the insert anyways and was planning on ditching it tbh

@@TheParkingLotMechanic I think the density like mounts should hold up fine to stage 2. Im curious to see what your experience is like with them. The streetsport and tracksport mounts look gnarly so I wouldn’t mess with those unless you’re planning on tracking the car pretty often. I’ve never messed with the inserts either. At most I’ll throw my 034 inserts back on an see what it feels like with the fresher mounts. I have been enjoying the smoothness of stock mounts and don’t know if I want to give any of it up lol.

I do plan on tracking it so the stiffer the better! At least to hold on for dear life! I don’t mind the added harshness and vibrations, but definitely don’t wanna go too far.

Im doing the exact same upgrades on the same platform in the UK. With the bits youre doing you will find an anti lift kit (i used whiteline antilift kit) will work well on these to prevent the wheel hop and some Michelin ps4s. Currently 6.25seconds on Dragy but i was stage 1 @ 251hp manual. Also maybe look at the vw upgraded subframe shim kit/bolts as youll notice it starts clunking with all this stiffening.

That’s sick dude! I’ll definitely look into those mods. Very thankful for the subframe suggestion. I think 034 has a kit if I recall correctly.

More torque to the wheels the more traction you need. Maybe the rubber needs upgrading?

Oh it for sure does. I recently swapped the rear tire to the front cause it had more tread and it definitely made a difference. Probably getting new tires next year.

Crazy how you ran a quicker time when you ran it down a hill 🙄🙄🙄 the dog bone mount will get you more wheel hop with out upgrading suspension/other mounts. Also it looks like you’re running 2nd gear all the way to 60 which is way too far lol
@TheParkingLotMechanic
@TheParkingLotMechanic 3 года назад
That’ll be our little secret 😉 it is also right where the turnaround is. And what would your recommendation be to get the fastest time?

@@TheParkingLotMechanic a tune lol, stock turbo runs out of power by 6k I usually shift 2nd at like 50-55
@TheParkingLotMechanic

A tune is coming. My cousin ran a stage 1 tune on a MK6 and said it was almost too much for the clutch. I’m working towards stage 2 so a new clutch is a definite, but more money. So it’ll take some time.

@@TheParkingLotMechanic I ran mine on the stage 1+ high boost. Never had any issues and I launched mine and still nothing. Going with a south bend now since it’s FBO and custom tune hopefully

Yep! No extra power produced by the engine, rather a more efficient transfer of power and torque to the rubbers by eliminating parasitic, torque-robbing chassis and mount squish.
@TheParkingLotMechanic

Exactly! Gonna go stiffer and full mounts soon to further the efficiency!
