The Cadillac BLS was a Saab 9-3 Clone! 

In Sweden they where called Saabillac. 😂

I think the Cadillac BLS might have sold reasonably well in the USA and Canada, but I think GM was worried at the time of it becoming a 2000s Cimarron.

They're not identical. These cars are just similar to each other. At first I didn't know that the Cadillac BLS was built on the same platform as the Saab 9-3. The Cadillac BLS and Saab 9-3 are more similar on the inside than on the outside.

1.9 Diesel was borough from Fiat but it was offered in 9-3 but it was a single turbo diesel. In a 9-3 were three versions of that diesel 120 and 150 HP with single turbo and 180 HP with a twin turbo version. By the way this car is very rare especially in Poland where I live and I never seen one in person I don’t know is that because Cadillac is barely know in Poland or is that this car is seriously that rare.

It has been cruelly described as a Frankensaab but I've got one and Love It!!

Does the Saab 9-3 and the 2006 Cadillac Bls have the same ignition and Key Fob?

Driving a '07 1.9TiD BLS station wagon, purchased in 2012 at an absolute bargain price from my uncle. Always loved it's american(ish) looks, and the fact that it's so rare on european roads. When he told me it had to go I didn't hesitate. Only seen a handful others since I got it. It handles like a sloppy understeering turd, the gearbox is way to slow, and the hard interior plastics are rattly crap. It has a great engine, it's cheap and reliable to run and it's a great highway cruiser. The most prestigious thing is it's badge, but it's an unknown marque over here. Plenty of people ask me what car it is, which is kinda cool. Starting to show it's age now, but I still like it a lot.

Interesting! You don't think they are similar at all? I find them *extremely* similar, I've immediately seen the SAAB 9-3 in the BLS on the few occasions I've encountered it - without even knowing their relation beforehand. Even that BLS estate now when I see it on pictures - never ever saw it in real life - it's extremely similar to the 9-3 Sport Combi. The characteristic posture, angles and proportions are exactly the same, all that's changed are details far out on the edge corners of the design. :-)

These BLS Cadillac's arent even really rare in Northern europe, seen these many. It actually looks better in person, than in pictures.

Pontiac G6 was also on this chassis, as was the Buick LaCrosse, and Saturn Aura. The platform was used everywhere and changed quite bit across divisions. however the BLS was definitely closer in nature.

I have the 2.8 255HP one and Im really happy with it, its not a pretty car, i can agree with that but it cost me bout 6000 dollars and for that money I think its rly ok :D

It looks like it shares the mirrors and doors as well?It's quite a nice car. I think it has more sound deadening than the 9-3. BR SaabCars

Z19dt 120hp 8v. Z19dth 150hp 16v with swirl. Z19dtr 180hp 16v biturbo. Then came a19dtr. Amazing engine.

Thanks for the video. I had never even heard of the Cadillac BLS. I like the look of the Estate and sedan. When I was getting the Takata airbag replaced at the GM dealership, the service writer (who owns a SAAB 9-5) told me that the Buick Cascada Convertible is basically a SAAB 9-3 Convertible.

The Cadillac BLS was available 10 years ago in Lebanon. In Lebanon, it was a pretty rare car and was only sold in petrol 2.0L turbo engine. A good condition one is not worth more than $7000.

Thank you for the video, I am in South Africa, I own a Cadillac BLS 2007 2.0T My engine seized and it is very difficult to find parts and with GM closed its plants in most cities it is a real hustle. Is it possible to replace my Cadillac engine with the SAAB 9-3

"Estate" is how we generally refer to a sportwagon / sport-combi car here in the UK. Good video. It really is just a re-badged 9-3 NG.

In México the BLS ( means build like a Saab) or (Bob Lutz special) was avaliable from 2006 to 2009 and was a failure because Cadillac cars are big and luxury sedan instead BLS was small and expensive.....

Did you know that the later 9-3s use bls doors, that why the hanldes don't look saab like. Also note that these doors were left overs as saabs from the bls era don't have the same d handles yet. This is further confirmed by the verts still having the old saab handles because the bls never came in a vert

the BLS was also sold in Mexico, living in San Diego CA we see a lot of cars we don't get in the US, saw one of the Cadillacs once.

Estate is typically used to describe luxury wagons in Europe, so that's likely the reason it was called that

I'm actually kind of "hunting" for one. Saabs are popular in Ireland, I've got two currently (trying to sell one) and that bls pops up really rarely here... Hard thing is finding one with estate body, and that's what I really want! Given that only body/some interior stuff are different, I would have no problem servicing it for years as all mechanical stuff is the same on both of them. And to me they do look similar, doors, windows, roof, all the same lines, but I like both of them, saab is more discreet, cadillac more eye catching. I'm actually a bit surprised to hear that it wasn't sold in USA!

SAAB's were GM products, GM products share parts and this is not the only car with similar parts or even appearance in the GM range. When buying parts I use the Vauxhall Vectra to source some of the suspension parts for my 93. Good video!

The rear end reminds me a lot of the Cadillac STS, and first generation CTS.

God. GM really knows how to make a Butt Ugly car. They couldn't even copy the SAAB 9-3 properly. Good video Cheers.
