Is this game the COD Killer? Let's play XDefiant now it has released, a new fps game from Ubisoft that has no Skill Based Match Making SBMM. Leave a LIKE and a comment, thanks for watching.
@doodlenov it'll always make a profit because people buy CoD like they do FIFA and 2k. Doesn't matter what they do to it (or what they lack to do, rather). But in terms of player count and retention, yes they only hurt themselves.
The massive problem with games like this is no matter how much money they spend they will fail to replicate the feel, fluidity of call of duty. The movement and aiming feel JANK compared to cod.
I think the emoji reactions are actually pretty cool. As far as psychology, they force you to be aware of your emotions, which likely reduces how extreme they are, especially in a casual setting. It’s also just a nice feature in that you don’t have to stop playing and open chat to say “nice shot” if you’re inclined to say it to someone. Idk I think it’s kinda cool
Another Ubisoft IP “For Honor” has a quick chat feature that people LOVE to use. Just like when I take down the entire team they show appreciation by spamming “Thanks! thanks! Thanks!”
@@AntonMaslo TBF, R6 was pretty damn good the first couple season. They really started to go off the rails with some of the operators and just turned it into a utility game
@@iApollyon yes, they lost the original team (and vision) around year 3 or so, I think? Even then, having a game similar to Raven Shield would be both awesome and impossible with current Ubi.
@@Kuypers11 I haven't heard of this before but that is something to be excited for, been wondering for awhile why they haven't done a SC: Pandora Tomorrow or chaos theory remaster those games were so fun
I played it a bit last night and I think this game constantly being referred to as a CoD killer is not only not helping it, but it’s actually hurting it. It’s not that much like CoD, and we need to judge it based on its own merit and people going into it expecting an older CoD style game will be disappointed because it’s not exactly like them, even if they otherwise would have liked it with the correct expectations. Idk, maybe it’s just me.
@@xmcblxck Exactly man, you go into it expecting it to be exactly like old CoD is going to leave you disappointed in it, because you thought there was going to be killstreaks and things like that. I can see the similarities but it's an arcadey shooter, so there were bound to be overlapping gameplay elements. Feels a lot more of a hybrid between CoD and Overwatch I'd say.
Psychologically speaking, I guess offering an instant emoji reaction to being killed is easier than getting all toxic in the chat. Did anyone sit down and think that deeply about it? No idea lol
In my personal opinion from my experience, it seems like games that have offered a way react in-game to what's happening with an appropriate response can help limit toxic releases between both teammates and enemies. these systems can certainly be abused depending on how they're implemented with spamming of them but I think it's overall a healthy way to provide the player an output of how they feel about the situation rather than none at all. Some examples are Apex emotes, League of Legends emotes, Escape From Tarkov voicelines, (almost every fighting game ever has taunts of some sort).
Your literally a saint if I didn’t have you I would never know what to play next bc I get bored of what we already have and you give me new information about the next games 🙏
It’s just a fun arena shooter. It doesn’t try to be anything else. I know people have been having server and connection issues, but I personally haven’t seen any, game has run smooth as butter for me. Let’s just hope the live service content doesn’t get stale too quickly
Might as well just go play good old Quake again if you want good basic FPS DM Arena gameplay.. In over 30 years nothing really changed (only the corprerate greed and monetization systems added)..
Server issues literally lasted like 3 hours, since then it's a 2 second wait to find a lobby with no issue absolutely every time I try to play now even in the welcome sbmm lobby the matchmaking is almost instant
Dude I'm so excited that this is out, I played in the last few days of open beta and it felt so danm good. I'm excited to see if it feels as good now that it's out
This game isn’t the COD killer, but it definitely is what fans has been asking Activision to do with COD… No SBMM in Casual playlists, Clean and simple main menu, Guns with their real names and amazing movement… You can outplay whoever is shooting from behind something hard to do in COD
@@ADHDxDahveed You gonna tell me the best selling game every year excluding when GTA games come out doesn’t have the money for it and a UBISOFT F2P newest IP does?? Activision is just being cheap and greedy
@@ADHDxDahveednot really. Ubisoft isn't paying for the actual licensing for these weapons' branding, like how Activision used to with Springfield and Remington. Infact, most firearm manufactuters are against selling their brand's likeness to video game developers, the government is also against using the likeness and branding of firearms in media, that are developed by opposing countries that aren't apart of NATO. The designation for a firearm isn't the same as branding. They could get away with calling the MP5, the "MP5" in the game's files and visible menus, HUD, etc., but they aren't getting away with slapping the bright red HK logo on there. The literal reason they stopped using the real world designation for actual firearms and are making pseudo sci-fi, unrealistic models for the weapons you see in-game is due to some arbitrary laws in California (where several of their offices are located) regarding the use of firearms in media, they've also stated they WANT a clear disconnect from reality by having spin-off in-game branding. Rockstar does the exact same thing with the GTA series. An example of this is the in-game weapon foundry "Singuard Arms" which is a clear spin-off of Springfield Armory. You can see a in-game logo stamped on the reciever of the M4 from MW'22, which is an example of a weapon using the actual designation for the firearm it's based off of, but it's "made" by a pretend brand. Not having the real world term and branding for virtual weapons, is a weird reason to dislike a producer and play a different game. "Why isn't the AK-47 just called that? Guess I'll go play something else that just calls a gun by the name it was given in the real world" It's not like it's THAT hard to figure out which guns in the game, are based off their real world equivalent and create a custom blueprint so you can re-name it to what you want.
Definitely, its honestly my favorite fps even though its only been out for a little while. I already have 8 hours in the game and I only got it yesterday
It plays like old cod, the abilities and stuff don't hinder how the game plays. As opposed to everything in cod that wasn't in older games getting in the way.
Wow you must be a descendent of Socrates or Einstein. You think it will find an audience. What a wise and well thought out prediction that must have taken great amounts of time to come to that conclusion. Out of all of the people in the world with a console or pc that have the ability to play it; a percentage of them will enjoy it and play. Bravo. Nice job by everyone liking his comment. I am mesmerized by it as well.
This game is actually quite fun, plays like old school Call of Duty. Not a fan of the goofy characters, but I like how the guns are named and modeled after their real-life counterparts (CoD doesn’t do that anymore).
The fact that they've finally bought back some parts of Ghost Recon Phantoms.... The level on the ship in the first clip where you drop down on the pillar and the outer section of the metal foundry map are all taken from Ghost Recon Phantoms. 😊
At first i was turned off seeing the wall back ability, but seeing it function really takes me back to blacklight retribution! Probably gonna be rocking that a lot personally when it's done downloading.
There are so many awesome maps in this game inspired by The Division franchise, majority of the maps are from those games, goes to show how special those games were. I cant wait for The Division 3 man.
Emoji reactions can also be feedback data to identify pain points with players. Its also good for extra feedback on the mood of the players compared to reading a reddit or review.
Why does Jackfrags’ description of Division lore kind of make it sound like a virus turns the infected into Christmas elves who enforce an infinite Christmas upon New York through violence?
I think the reaction icon is there to allow you vent your emotion (mostly anger, based on CoD) right there and then instead of harassing others. Kinda cool tbh.
Honestly, my friends who were hardcore COD fans all ditched COD for this game and I have to say, it really does feel like how COD used to be, and once you get over the learning curve it’s relatively fun. The body hit boxes are mildly annoying but the TTK is already super low in this game, so it doesn’t really matter They need to rebalance the guns though. SMGs are way too strong right now. Additionally, I personally don’t like Cleaner’s passive
A lot of people play solo. Who don't have friends to play with. Anything that can bridge that social gap helps imo. Its like when someone commends your kill in chivalry 2. Its nice to have that splitsecond social connection.
Why do people always claim it's the next "insert game title here" killer. A game can be good and do it's own thing, but this isn't replacing CoD, it is 't even really the same overall type of game.
Weird thing is I played this game yesterday and it's literally just cod with a different name. Like I can't imagine why I would play this over cod when it's the same thing lol. Also I buy cod only for zombies so if the next title has a good round based zombies mode as rumoured then there's no reason for me to go for another series
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory assymetric multiplayer: the most satisfying online experience I've ever had. If they released just the online portion, before it became needlessly complex, I'd buy it in a flash
Somehow the map especially the indoors reminds me of how I used to play the now gone Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Phantoms also by Ubisoft that was Free to Play back in the day and those were good times. Happy to see it in some form here with XDefiant and now looking forward to try this as well
My only complaint is that I wish it came out with more game modes like TDM, SND , CTF , ETC. But I'm sure it will come with time and I'm loving the simplicity of the game so far!
@@that80ssongyoulove84the thing is about CoD that it isn’t in a good place right now at all. MW3 was overpriced DLC, the cheating is out of control, and too much resources are put into Warzone and not into the base game anymore. If the MS acquisition of Activision is going to help CoD, then this years iteration will have to be the only CoD for at least two years. Look Battlefield as a series, a new one doesn’t need to come out every year to be relevant , but each one gets a ton of support for years.
As someone with a psych degree, its hard to pinpoint exactly why they have implemented the kill ranking system, however I believe it is due to player agency. For the player to be able to express how they feel directly to the server, even if the submission is completely ignored, the player feels as though their concerns have been heard and that is a validating feeling. Only time will tell if this feature can actually be utilised in some fashion that is useful to players or if it is just another gimmick…
The location (United Ironworks) is the same as the Iron Horse Raid from the Division 2. They include elements from both Division 2 raids though, as Admiral Burger shows up in the Dark Hours raid.
Jack, found you while watching Westie, Stod, and Tomo and I'm so glad I did. Your videos/streams are just so unique compared to how everyone else reacts to and talks about games. Keep it up.
Ur actually a great streamer ur not annoying like most streamers ur a great player and it's just a breathe of fresh air to watch somebody like that god bless n keep on keepin on
Most streamers: Mentions chat a million times while ignoring them completely Jack: I'm hungry wheres some food Also Jack: Finds food and spelling errors 😂
I think as someone who occasionally appraises the skills of others I kinda get the whole emotes. I like this is something different and so far free got it on ps5 to give it a go this weekend
If youtubers didnt constantly tell you that it was a problem (because it directly affects their content) you would have never known any different. Bet you dont remember all the lobbies that booted everyone because the host quit due to someone on the opposite side stomping on them.....thats what CoD was like before SBMM made things fairer.
@@richeh79 yeah i mean sbmm only made things better for casual players but the rest of us, the better ones have to deal with tryhard and sweats and every single game, you have to absolute tryhard if you want to win a game
@@richeh79 No, I would still be stuck constantly wondering "why do I suck at this game so much now when I used to be amazing? Am I really that bad, or that old? Are the players way better than they used to be?" And probably give up on playing because I was gaslit into thinking I can't play anymore. Finding out about SBMM was a moment of finally realizing what was going on. It's not something where I "never noticed something was different". It's something that was driving me insane before I even realized it existed.
@@ActiveGamingUK no not all the time. If I was grinding for a rank placement, sure but in cod you are grinding nothing or sometimes you just want to start a quick game put your feets on a table and relax a bit and be egoistic. If I lose get absolutely annhilated because one game because I didn't focus I don't care but if I have to focus everygame just to barely win, get angry it's not fun
Played it last night and the only negative is the progression is so slow. Played it for almost 2 hours and unlocked one sight in the whole time I was playing.
kinda hate that all shooters nowadays have characters u can choose with weird perks. wish it was like the old cod where u just have a couple of perks and thats it. (wouldve loved no perks but perks was fine to me)
Go play old cod! This isn't supposed to be CoD. I don't disagree though and that's why I am buying a 360 and going to enjoy mw1, 2, 3, bo2 etc. Hackers or not idc anything beats modern cods
Does anyone remember Shatterline? No? Because that was supposed to be a "CoD Killer" too. It also even came with a PvE game mode that lots of people liked. But now no one is playing it, and no one talks about it. Because CoD will never die. It's just too ingrained in the gaming world.
True. Otherwise CoD would've been gone for the past 15 years, it only got more successful once it became a milking machine with the forced MW2 release back then.
No one calls anything a "killer" seriously. Path of Exile hasn't killed Diablo, CoD and Battlefield haven't killed each other, FF XIV didn't kill WoW, WoW didn't kill FF XIV, Dota 2 and LoL, Valorant and Counter Strike, all happily competing and coexisting in their respective segments of the market. Almost no game is killed by another game. Games are killed by publishers cutting costs and bigger studios buying smaller ones to poach talent, tech and intellectual property.
Bro finally someone who mentioned Shatterline. I played it for alittle while. Xdefiant feels so similar. But Shatterline has a pretty decent coop mode unlike this. Sad it didn't gain the popularity it deserves.
@@tomsbondarsthe finals alone just has better hitreg and going behind walls actually works lol. That makes a big difference, but as a direct cod competitor, this is great
Finals is good but the mode is just ehh tbh. It gets old after a while. The new mode is ehh as well. The maps in xdefiant are so much better and gunplay feels great as well
I am liking the unlock system so far, and the classes being pretty locked down is easy to understand. Some of the abilities are a bit OP like wall hacks, but some of the support options do help even it out. Overall id say 9/10 shooter! No tdm is sad though..
@@dybixs1400it's the arcade factor that makes it feel like a classic shooter like the old cods. There's no other game that's arena based that captures this feel out rn and that's just facts.
@@PhilusMoore808s wtf does "arcade factor" even means? Today's COD is years light more arcade than any COD before Advance Warfare, you literally have unicorn operators and weapon skins, gamemodes that let you fly and the ability to create absolute 0 sense weapons in the gunsmith. What did you had back in the day? All Milsim operators even in BO2 + Real life weapons and much slower movement. You don't make any sense with that language
@@dybixs1400 you are clearly very upset. It’s a simple and easy game, and most importantly it’s fun, altough I only played like 2 hours. Older cods were much more fun for a lot of people. For me, it feels a bit like BO4, which was imo a good game. This is free to play, which makes it very accessible. You don’t have to play it if you don’t like it. It aims for the a similar audience as COD, and if it will be successful, it will have a positive impact of future cod games as well (cause of competition). Relax dude
i actually really like this, its fun, also free to play was a great move. seems like not many youtubers are talking about it? also, someone who studies psychology and neuroscience, im not sure there is a reason other than being different to CoD and Overwatch. Emojis show more emotion than written words, for example, in rocket league toe dual meanings of something like 'nice shot' or 'what a save', these can either be perceived sarcastically or in a friendly manner, depending on context, but emojis are more emotive and therefore engaging to players. but likely the first reason i said, just to differ from cod and overwatch
Says this AK bounces like crazy. Well Jack, that is how actual AK's are in full auto. Forget what gameplay tells you, thats an AK. Also, the accuracy drops off HUGE after 150, to 200 yards.
Do you have everything on ultra? Or what hardware are you using? I have a 5800x3d, 32gb 3600mhz ram, 2tb m.2 gen4 and a 4090 and barely reach 150fps. I'm playing on an ultrawide 2k monitor though.
Dude... It's impossible to tell if the game has wall penetration because of how behind the netcode is. Everything that happens is at least half a second behind even at 20ms ping and at best 50% of shots register. Not that there isn't a decent game in there somewhere and great that you are having fun, but "Game runs fine, no glitches, no server issues" assessment is wholly erroneous.
The react to the kill i think is to emulate that you could go in chat in a lot and be like “NS” or get ragey cause the same guy has done you multiple times but not have a chat full of slurs and offensive language. Baso allowing people to rage but mitigate toxicity
Love how this game ties in several Ubisoft IPs, but it reminds me of the pain that we have yet to get a new GR game, SC game, and still waiting for a Division 3
The incendiary ammo is def OP right now. I switched factions to that one and instantly got more kills. It wouldn’t be so bad if the other factions got some sort of perk while shooting, like GR getting lower recoil or something. But no, their bullets just hit harder.
