I know what your family is going through, I am myself with my father who has terminal lung cancer, my only family on my side remaining. I won’t even try to imaging how you or my father feels, nobody ever can until it is them. I’ve struggled finding work a lot this year but whenever I think life is to much I remember this guy and remember that I can still enjoy my friends and family and all of the positives in my life.
There is another Daniel who is going through something similar. I am heartbroken for him but at least he is still fighting. His name is Daniel DC Becker and he has a small youtube channel. May you make the most of it, you don’t understand how much your videos made me appreciate the excitement and preciousness of life, I have really started living different and from a new perspective. Know my friend, that you have changed the lives of thousands of people including me. And I will live my life remembering your valuable lessons and having fond memories of a person I don’t know, I was always afraid of death despite being religious however upon working in a carehome (which I simply did inspired by your videos) I’m beginning to understand that it is courage and determination that will make the next step easier. And I hope that the reality of the situation doesn’t break you. Upon speaking to some residents that are older than 80 in the carehome a man told me recently several weeks before passing away from what turned out to be progressive heart disease when I asked him how to beat the fear of death. He said something on the lines of this. “You can only loose to death when she meets you at your doorstep, you don’t meet her with a smile.” “It’s courage and determination to meet the unknown that will make that step easy, even exciting.” He told me. Of course I didn’t believe him and I still have the fear. Good luck with what awaits you in the time you have. And know that I will always remember you because you have at least a tiny bit, changed my life.
I’m crying watching this mainly because I can see your in pain both from the results and from the cancer and I wish you can have some better news or even better days. The fact you upload daily and keep us informed daily amazes me but truly take some time off, spend it by the beach with your family doing what you love to do. I’m heartbroken completely especially since I started watching you months ago cause you gave me so much strength during the time my mom was diagnosed and she’s now better and the fact your not too just really breaks my heart. Hey Linda, I know your comment is written with the best of intentions (and much of it is lovely), but please don't portray those who have cancer as being engaged in a 'fight'. In doing so, you contribute to a predominant narrative regarding cancer, in which the disease and the afflicted are 'fighting' it out. Inevitably, this means there are 'winners' and 'losers'. When somebody 'loses' their 'fight' with cancer, that implies that in their death, cancer has 'won' and they have 'lost'. I know that you'll agree with me that Dan isn't a loser. There are no winners and losers when it comes to cancer; nor is there a fight.

This is so sad. My son fought the cancer and Mayo tried everything and did all they could. He was given 2-3 months. He lived 6 weeks of detioration. Finally, he couldn't even swallow liquid morphine. Rest in peace Dan. Maybe you will meet Michael on the other side. Blessings to your family. I know their love lives on and they will miss you terribly.

My whole life i have felt meaningless, worthless, hopeless, depressed, constant anxiety, that nobody loved me, a failure, in everything i do, and everything i have done, i have silently followed you from day one, im not one to speak out, i just sit here in the dark quietly watching, feeling every ounce of your pain, and pleasure in the videos you do, good times/bad times. I just found this story and I have the overwhelming feeling of loss of someone I knew personally, it's very strange for me. I have been dealing with death since I was small child and i was once was without a pulse or heartbeat myself for close to 4 minutes.. I truly think that we are all connected in some way or another and these kinds of feelings some of us get sometimes only reinforce that belief for me

Gavin Roberts for sure. It makes me never want to touch a cigar again and I was smoking a lot out of stress. Just makes me want to change my life in general. Lifestyle changes. And making sure I appreciate little things. I don’t take simple things for granted, but this is a good reminder for us all.
Donna--i couldnt agree with you more!! Since the day i subbed to dan, i have been looking at everything in life completely different. Because of him, i have stopped to "smell the roses" and have even reconnected with people i lost touch with. I am forever grateful to him. I love your comment and wish you a good week.

My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer in August 2021. He went through so much pain and so many treatments but he was slowly improving. Unfortunately that changed this August. An uncaught mass damaged his spinal cord, leaving him paralyzed from the chest down which resulted in an invasive surgery that took him off his cancer treatment. Within weeks the cancer spread everywhere in his body. I'm learning how to say goodbye to him in the next couple of weeks. He is only 55 years old and he did not have the best life, but hopefully he can now rest in peace. I am glad I remember Tom's story from years ago, it gives me strength to smile and give my dad a proper goodbye.
Jerry, we’ve all lost family members I’ve lost my mother and father to this. BUT, why are you talking about your situation on a video where a man less than half the age of you or my father has less than weeks to live? It’s narcissistic to the core sir and I pray you delete it.

I will never take any part of my life for granted after seeing this. I quit boozing three months ago after following your journey because I realised I was taking my life for granted. You are an inspiration, you really, really are and I can’t believe that you have been inflicted with this horrible disease when there are so many horrible people on earth that actually deserve to be inflicted with it. My thoughts are with you and your family
Dan: I’ve never commented on a video of yours. As a nurse (and most importantly a geriatric/palliative nurse).. make the most of your time. Don’t exhaust yourself especially fighting for more time. At this point it’s quality over quantity.
Really sorry to hear this Dan, but always remember, everyone of us will be with you every step of the way. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers in hopes that all of the love gives you more time than the doctors think you have. You have inspired each and everyone of us that follow you, and have touched Our Lives in ways that you probably don't even know. God bless you sir. We all stand with you in our hearts.

I hope that however many days, weeks, months, or years you have left that you are able to continue to live them with a positive attitude and in a way that continues to give you a good quality of life. I am sure what you are going through is one of the hardest things ever but rest assured that YOU HAVE MATTERED IN THIS WORLD! What if this was your whole purpose of being on this planet?! You have brought people together in your fight to overcome cancer and also you have brought attention to the plight of those going through this process and how they can go through it with grace, style, and a smile on their face! Yes, I hear and I am very empathetic to his situation. My mother passed away from cancer when I was 16 years old and being the oldest of three I became the "other" parent when she died. She was "living" in the hospital for most of the last two years of her life and due to the chemo and other drugs her hair turned white and she gained a ton of weight making her look and feel old beyond her years as she slowly died in a hospital room. My comment to Dan is that it is amazing how he is continuing to live while inspiring others regardless of how much time he has left (which is not a number that is up to Doctors or us). So yeah, I DO hear what he is saying...and I also SEE that he is LIVING his LIFE and BRAVELY SHARING his journey with the world regardless of the outcome! #DanIsTheMan
