I understand how sponsorship on RU-vid video channels and certain sports work, but Taren, honestly I must address this video so far is the most disappointing video I have ever seen from Triathlon Taren channel. I have been a big fan of your channel until this point, and I still am! I wish nothing but the best for Triathlon Taren, but here is the problem I must tell you to improve quality of your contents, especially problems regarding this video particularly. 1. What determines the best bike? Yes, you said this is one of the best triathlon bikes of 2020 and 2021. Here is my question - how did you test that? All you have is professional triathlete Sarah Crowley's walkthrough. No road testing yourself, no solid long-term use. When it comes to put the word 'Best' or 'One of the Best', you should be providing solid reason behind it. 2. Sneak Peak -> Changing Triathlon Bikes Forever? With all due respect, some of the features this new CFR claims innovative has been already tried on many other competitors. For example, mono-stem handlebar has been a long time feature from Trek Speed Concept, Cervelo PX5 and Factor SLiCK. Internal Top Tube Storage Solution has been already used in Dimond Marquise, Specialized Shiv and Felt IA series. Maintenance kit storage solution was also used by Specialized and Diamondback Andean. I'm not downplaying Canyon's solutions, but Canyon didn't really make these features 'innovative'. Yes, I agree as you said 'these small changes' might make differences, but it is not 'Game-Changer', to be honest. 3. Be Cautious -> Until you really get hands on, please don't judge I saw both Scott and Canyon's new bikes coming out this year, and as all bike brands do, they claim 'The Best' as cliché marketing term. What disappoints me is that as an independent enthusiast, Taren, your stance should be somewhere 'neutral'. However, you titled the video and put description of the video toward more of 'advertisement' on behalf of Canyon side than 'Good Old Honest and Humble' Taren side. This is the part that I'm most concerned. Be that good old Taren who genuinely cared about other triathletes with hopes they use good products. This is the reason why I am disappointed the most for this video - Where is that good old Taren I recommended this channel to others for? As I mentioned, I am a fan wishing the best for your channel. We all make mistakes, and I believe you made a mistake this time that you can learn and move on. So please don't take my comment as a personal attack. If I didn't care enough, I wouldn't even use my personal time to post this comment. Sincerely

Literally everything on that bike already exists on other bikes (internal bladder, BB storage, removable nose cone to get to electronics, integrated bento etc). If the power advantage vs the old one is 9W that means it puts it right up there with Cervelo bikes for example so they really only caught up. The one thing that put Canyon ahead was the price advantage which Taren rightfully pointed out in previous videos. This advantage seems to be entirely gone now. So it leaves you with a B2C model that has bikes very similar to other bikes at the same price with more hassle when it comes to servicing or warranty issues.
@gabouel
@gabouel 3 года назад
That's a really good looking, very-well integrated bike. But claiming Canyon is changing the game is just not true. Other brands have had built in storage for tools or hydration bladders for some time now. The new Scott that launched recently does everything the new Speedmax does, and more. Canyon got rid of their unpractical bento box + hydration system by doing what the industry was already doing - not the other way around.

It WON'T change triathlonbikes forever. Most things are already beeing used for a long time like the hydration system. The old shiv triathlon bike for example has the same hydration system. Don't get me wrong it's a nice bike and probably one of the best out there but please don't fool consumer and tell them them that this is gamechanging. It's just a new bike. And I know you are sponsored by them so you want to give canyon the opportunity to influence your audience into buying this bike and I get it but please don't say things that the bike cant live up to😊 Still your videos are nice and keep them coming😊

Very nice bike, I've watched a few reviews including GTN and Lionel Sanders. Canyon has done an exceptional job in design, well thought out. My concerns are options, its been said its a sell direct to the consumer type of idea but the price on this bike is an exception to that rule. What's more why can't I order it with some of the options your sponsored athlete's have. For example in your video and Lionel's first ride vid they have the 1x12 sram axs and from what I've seen you can't order that on any of the the CFR or CF models. A person has to spend a great amount of money and make changes as soon as you take delivery. Another example is the 858 Zipp rims , I'd rather have the Dt or my choice would be Enve. Perhaps this is something PR or HR Canyon will consider in the years to come to be more competitive unless they are comfortable with how it is. In my eyes , you have something great why not sell as many as you can by accommodating as many athletes as you can with maybe some rim options or groupset 1x12 axs sram (wireless is the future)

I want to add that I am happy to see Canyon to consider everything in the design. Brilliant, yes other manufactures have done a lot but Canyon hit a home run with design, bladder in frame, tools, tube, air strike, very clean. I am a die hard Cervelo but I am sick and tired of the ugly after market hydration or tool storage accessories. Canyon put it all into one. Now I'd like to see stealth blackout on the CFR.

Love the canyon these days. Can't be UCI legal which is the only checkmark against for those who jump into cycling races/state champs etc, but a beautiful piece of technology! I wonder about the durability of the frames with the compromised stability of the top tube for the flaps. I know they wouldn't release something unsafe, but there has to be some loss there, I'd be curious to see the percentage.

From a “looks” standpoint, Canyon took a step backward. The new one is UGLY. And this is TRIATHLON. You don’t need disc brakes. If you’re braking a lot, you’re doing it wrong. I hope they keep the old SpeedMax as an option. As Yoda would say, “Hideous the new one is!”

So much bull!! The new model is good!! Visuals at least! Show me the gains on the aero túnel 40km/s per hour one vs another. For 40kms!! If there is any will be marginal! The greatest upgrade is the full adjustable front end, with ease. If crank arm length was equally adjustable there wouldn't be much else needed to dial oneself into their machine. The internal bladder, what's the volume? It seems great, but could be a pain to maintain (mold/bacteria). I would have liked to see her take it out and replace it. I suspect that putting it back in may be difficult. Let's see what the BIG MAN LS thinks of this machine.

I agree, game changing... when the direct to consumer company with only a 2yr warranty and no customer service charges as much as the likes of Specialized. The Speedmax does look awesome and if given to me I would absolutely love it. However the prices are ridiculous! Canyon spent so much money in advertising, sponsoring pro triathletes, 3 pro cycling teams... They want us to cover their big spending spree. No thanks. Get back to the business model and provide quality with good pricing or have faith in your products, provide a good warranty and have them available in store but this shift from Canyon to me might change the game for them where the customers they had may no longer be.

The game changer of triathlon is if they allow recumbents and fairing to be used. There are velomobiles and recumbents which are more aerodynamic and faster with a cheaper price than this tri bike. The reason of affordability for banning recumbents and fairings is erased by these super expensive tri bikes that are not that aero and uncomfortable too

I will say, the aerobar adjustability is pretty rad. It's also nice that they have the full arm bars like some of the pros have. Always cool to see that stuff become (somewhat) widely available. But besides that, it's not like you weren't able to ever adjust stack height, reach and angel. Hell, it was usually was easier to do so on the cheaper bikes with standard stems. The felts had a super low-profile bento box a while back, the shiv has had internal fluid compartments since forever, the p5/3x had the "down tube" storage years ago, and trek and cervelo really pushed aerodynamics forward for tri/tt bikes about a decade ago. Triathlon bikes aren't necessarily innovative anymore, its more so who can re-arrange things in the better order with their frame. And then as consumers we just need to hope we choose the frame that is the fastest for our own geometry, biomechanics and shape/size. Lastly, all these big companies just make insane stuff for the pros, those pros go and win, people want a canyon because of said winning, and they end up only being able to buy the table scraps from the far east factories. But thats how you fund the R&D, marketing, sponsorships and events.

Do not be negative towards Taren. GTN, GCN and another 10.000 channels are paid to promote products. They do not claim they are objective. They do not promote a product to offend any of you. It is just a job. Very few youtubers have the luxury to transcend the subjectivity threshold in objectivity land, but they buy the products they review. Most youtubers are happy to get some freebees. I would be, as well, but I am too lazy to grow a youtube channel.
