@@LockedOnCardinalsMLB I think we may have the parts to really compete. Once we get to full strength and maybe add another starter we could take the Central, which is much weaker than I had originally thought. Hopefully Oli can make moves that help. Not sure he has done that yet.

Win or lose, THIS is the way I want the team to play! Let the guys get out there and fight for a "W". My word, Burleson... I am SO DMAN HAPPY that they are FINALLY letting him play! I was one of the people that was saying (for over a year now) that the Cardinals should EITHER trade him, OR... ACTUALLY LET THE MAN PLAY! THIS is why! Stop benching guys that clearly have the talent: put them in the lineup EVERY DAY! So glad that we're finally letting him perform! Donny. The guy I've been saying should be protected from trades above MANY others, including the likes of Gorman and Walker. THIS is why! These guys are our future, so let's build around them. Go Cardinals!

Hoping they’re gelling after 2 years. The talent is on the field. These guys are good. The starting pitching has exceeded my expectations for them all year. Once Arenado and Goldy light it up it could get real fun.

Elite hand eye coordination. This allows the hitter to see the pitch and barrel the ball as it comes thru the zone. Winn, Burleson, and Donovan all have it and it's beautiful to watch!

Contreaous was on at second he was talking to 2 of the Braves players u could tell they were talking about his injury they looked amazed probably because he was back so quick , he was trying to show them the star but the guard or whatever it is he was trying to get it off to show them the scar

Read the fanside article with Palante. No confidence in the pitching coaches. It took Gibson to teach him how to throw a bullpen. He said no coaches had even talked to him about how to go about a bullpen. So, no, Dusty doesn't get the credit. It's the three 30+ pitchers that get the credit.

The lineup would be super scary once GoldyNado are back to their old ways offensively. That will ease the pressure of bringing Noot and Edman back and they can ease in. Same with Herrera. I wouldn’t mind Flaherty back. His FIP was 2.12 last time I checked

I was surprised Willson did not get a welcome back standing ovation.👏 Way to go Lynn on a great rebound! No walks👍👏 i went to walmart with slippers and jammies on tooo after the game😂 Pages 2 homers against the cubs were HUGE. Ollie does stand up for his players also that ejection showed that. Ultimately the players have to hit pitchers have to pitch. Still need a 1 or 2 tier starter to get us there. I to noticed the team is lose with the convo in the dugout and on the field communication. A good mix of personalities some with fire which you need. Would be a lot of fun to sweep the Braves just maybe ESPN will take notice. Thanks JD for the pod!👍👏⚾️🏆

Now that they are hitting.. outside the corners which imo idc if they don’t hit until late September into October.. but this pen needs reinforced yesterday.. and Matz being set back is huge… must address that rotation as well to sustain this run

Because I pray for him that's why, the Cardinals is my son's favorite team he's actually got a cards tattooed on his arm.. and I'm trying to lead him to the Lord.. I started praying for the Cardinals on May 13th and especially Goldsmith.. every time I pray good things happen I prayed for the St Louis blues when they were never winning the world the Stanley cup.. and I prayed for him that whole year and they won the Stanley cup the St Louis Cardinals is going to win the world series because I pray for him... Willson coming back will be huge for thee lineup even tho the Herrera/Pages combo performed well. More thump to the lineup from the catcher position. Now Noot needs to get back to let Donny do his thing all over the field or stay in LF then let Burly DH. Have given up on Tommy getting back.

The best quality imo of Burleson is his low strike out rate. Donovan is not far behind. Winn is also getting to the pitch. IMO launch angle equates to bunch of strike outs. I remember the old timers talking about not striking out as being an issue of pride. To me being a hitter should actually mean hitting the ball.

I keep reading about you all want a relief pitch added come on guys and girls we have a man in the miners that should be ready next week . Now you all forget how he’s been winning a heck of a lot of games for us . Until this year he’s still got a good contract to finish out this year so let’s bring him out of rehab and get him back to save some games as he’s done in the pass .

I keep reading about trading goldy. We have the best first baseman in baseball. We have a good man he can teach every young players to be great baseball man and a young man how to live a decent man . Goldy can hit to left field center or right he is capable of hitting a home run every game he plays . If you all know baseball well goldy takes first to third and he does it with ease i been watching the young players learning from goldy and now are taking that extra base . What I’m saying we need and I believe will sign goldy to a three year Exstion.

After looking over the Central and the fact that we are getting some of the guys back I think with one more decent pitcher we may be able to complete with just about anyone. Not really worried about a wild card cause the odds are pretty good that we can win the division. Would have never thought that in March.

I am not ready to get so crazy yet, there are 9 teams still in contention for the playoffs, that's a lot of teams. I am feeling better with Cards but a long way to go. We have teams like Washington Or even Mets still there. Yet we are there.

This team confuses me. On fangraphs every single team stat suggests they shouldn’t be good but they are! I’m having a ton of fun watching this team right now and I also think oli marmol is better than people realize. He has to have some part in helping us overachieve.

And they need them. When I saw the lineup yesterday, with 6 through 9 a 200 wonderland. At least Siani brings elite defense but the team can't maintain a long winning streak with that big a void in the offense, A competent GM would address that sooner than later. Too bad we don't have one.

If you're a true fan of the Cardinals yesterday's game will just help you appreciate that the Cardinals won when they nearly lost like it wasn't anything. It was 4-0 at one point in the Cardinals favor then in the 9th the Braves got within 1 with 2 guys on and 1 out and let's credit Hesley for not getting hit hard again.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the team turn around began during the game that Goldy grounded out and broke his bat and the barrel end of the bat spun around and stuck in the ground between 3rd base and the pitcher's mound. Like a warrior sticking his spear on the ground and saying the badness STOP'S HERE!

The team does indeed look better….& hopefully some internal tweaks (Noot & Edman returning) over the next three weeks will bolster & stabilize an improving lineup….bullpen & back-end rotation reinforcement are increasingly imperative issues (JoJo & Kitt haven’t been sharp of late)…..& the FO won’t be doing any more than tinker at the deadline most likely….this is not a good team….but a decent/strong bullpen can help an average team win like a better one for a few stretches over the season.

roballen8431 Wouldn’t quite say they can hang with “any AL team”…..the fact that they swept the O’s shouldn’t lead folks to believe the Cards are the equal of NYY, CLE, PHI, LAD, etc….I suspect they’ll stay a fairly average team that plays up a bit - if they can keep/reinforce their one true strength (the bullpen).

I partly feel we will possibly trade nado to la with others(Kittredge) to get Bobby Miller. And Goldy will be gone at the deadline. And your corners will be Donovan at 3rd and Alec at 1st. Last night kind of proved they are not needed to win. Would love to get Bryan Woo as well. So next years Rotation: Gray, Miller (from LAD in nado trade +), Woo (from Mariners in Carson + AA or AAA pitcher +, Gibson(we are extending him), and Mikolas. Lineup: Winn, Donovan, Gorman, Alec, Contreras, Nootbar, Edman, Walker, Scott, (DH who ever needs rest from the field from positions 1-7). Bench: Ivan, Pages, Fermin, and go get another bench bat. Bullpen: Romero, Helsey, Pallente, Fernandez, fill in with 2 more. As you can tell i put some thought into this do i think we can get miller and woo yes, but its how much we have to give up.

First 30 plus games Oli is putting out the worst constructed lineups in baseball! He’s wasted Winn’s production in the 8th spot! He’s got worst slump of his career Moldy Goldy in the 2 spot! He’s got no production from the lead off! He’s got Burelson buried in the lineup or on the bench! Somebody hit a hr the day before and shows signs of breaking into a steak they get benched for a game! For 30 games plus it was one dumbass idiotic offensive decisions after another out of Oli! He refused to try Winn in the lead off! He refused to drop Moldy in the order! And all JD could say was ‘it’s not Oli’s fault the team isn’t hitting! lol! When there allot of people in your lineup not hitting then how you construct a lineup exceptionally matters! When Oli finally figured out he had a lead off hitter in Winn the team turned things around offensively! When Oli finally figured out Burelson is your number 2… or more so that slumping moldy Goldy isn’t… the offense turned around.. a bit. If you’re gonna give praise where it’s due, JD then you also have to throw shade where it’s due. Oli was a BIG part of the Cards early offensive struggles! That’s a fact! Criticism of him is deserved! Oli realizing his lineups were trash and that he had to do something different is a BIG part of the team’s recent surge! That’s a fact! Give him praise .. for realizing that he sucked! JD you do the giving praise where it’s due part of it all…. But you won’t throw shade when and where it’s due! Because of this you’re not legit to me! You’re corporate rose colored glasses fake! Or you’re Naive! Let’s hope Contreras comes back hitting well because I have a feeling Oli is gonna dig him in like a tick in the three hole no matter what! .. for at least 30 games .. that’s what our Oli does! I love Contreras and think he’s the spiritual leader of the team but Oli batting him 4th last year killed our first half! Oli maybe learning .. but he has allot more to learn. And until he dies he’s going to have allot more shade thrown at him. Deservedly so! Deal with it JD! Like a man! Not a corporate mouse!

Last year no manager would keep Willson 3rd 4th 5th when he couldn't hit 200 I was so ticked with his lineup I'm surprised Mo didn't say what you doing!? It was so wrong it was like a nighmare!! I like Willson I watched him many years up here in Chicago. The taking hold of the new pitching staff and hitting was very mental with also trying to replace Molina. He's settled in quite nicely now and hopefully he will be able to hit decent after that broken arm. I don't think as of now hitting 3rd after a broken arm a month ago isn't the right thing as of now he should be maybe 6th until he gets that strength and hitting live pitching again after a month off.

Can Arenado return to the lineup in Crawford’s spot at the bottom? He’s been kinda what you want out of 7-8 hitter. Lots of timely singles and the occasional double down the line to score a run. Having Goldy/Gorman/Nado in the heart of the order is too much man
