Brenden Schaeffer breaks down topics surrounding the Cardinals 11-4 loss to the Reds on Thursday as Miles Mikolas imploded for five innings in a row to log his worst start of the season -- and arguably his worst as a Cardinal.

Baloney , he left him in to deal out 94 cards. When Lynn , Gray , and Liberatore were pitching great none were allowed over 88 pitches and pulled after 7. Marmol is a FM , he never allows the pen to be rested unless the starter is horrible like Mikolas last night . Then he'll allow 94 pitches and 10 ER . Fire this I____

This team biggest problem is the lack of aggression at the plate. Yea they’ve been playing baseball but it is constant they are down 0-2 1-2 in counts watching 2 strikes go across the plate and swing at a ball 6 inches out of the zone for strike 3 or a ground out. The offense is still a problem the pitching has been keeping us in these games. Also this team can beat teams that are better than them but get beat up by the reds, the white Sox the marlins etc. those are the teams you HAVE to beat up on.

This game was just one of those things. Happens to every team now and then. That being said, Mo needs to spend some money or make some trades. We have to get some above average pitching from somewhere. We dumped Montgomery but he hasn’t been very good this year especially for $25M. Slim pickings out there but we need help to make a solid run. Love the head line Brenden!

This idea that St. Louis Cardinals fans gotta live with Moz shitty signings, like Matz & Mikolas, and Cecil & Choate & Miller, because the fans gotta show up or we won’t get to sign more of them, is counterintuitive to my way of thinking. It’s similar to the idea that “we like our team”, when we have 5 Starting Pitchers FOR THE SEASON “ well there’s Thompson and don’t forget all these other failed 1st Round SP’s PLUS all the starting pitchers we traded away in exchange for Starting Pitching that’s not any help at all this year except for King, and that’s iffy. How’d he trade 3 Starting Pitchers and 2 RPs for 11 IP of help this year? Serious question.

Time to call it for what it is. You keep using your BP , when there's no reason. Then have to leave guys in, to get face smeared into the mound on a bad day. Why ? Because you never let a guy come anywhere near finishing what he starts. Lynn had enough to go 8 innings , Gray had enough to go 8. Liberatore was pitching great , possibly could have a complete game, but not with this leash yanker as manager. And in every case the BP nearly blew a great performance. Yank the leash on the leash yanker once and for all.

Sheeeesh. People need to calm down. Mikolas has been nails for the past 6 weeks. Imanaga was been blown up 2 starts in a row. It happens. Team is heading in the right direction. It’s a marathon replete with highs and lows. Let it go and enjoy the ride. And yea, “sports entertainment “ seems to rear its ugly head at times. Go Cardinals. Thinking we will overtake the Brewers. Need players like Gorman to contribute. Sorry for the multiple mistype. Corrected.

WHY did oli not pull him. How do you let your starter go almost 5 innings and give up 10 runs before you pull him. Some days, guys just dont have it, and you have to have a backup plan ready. If you dont, that's terrible. Sure, put some blame on mikolis, but also blame marmol for not seeing what was happening.

I’m just struggling to understand wtf is Oli and company thinking day in day out.. gray goes almost no hitter and get pulled 80 pitches after 1 HR.. Libby I guess I understand with the 85 pitches but was dealing… yet Miles throws insane amount of pitches and gives up 9… I understand bull pen was taxed but seriously… and lastly get Arenado out of the middle of the order I know he had a HR and he makes a kings ransom but bases loaded 1 out pops up.. just put him 7th he hasn’t found his groove all year it’s time to move him down end of discussion

Finally , someone seeing the leash yanker always pulling guys earlier than needed. Then not having the luxury of calling on the pen early when needed. And Liberatore could have had a CG , he was that good for a change. That my friends is a confidence booster. Not yanking him. Then, leaving Mikolas in to get rocked is a confidence bomb.

Miles Stinkolas. A team actually trying to win doesn’t have this guy in their rotation. Just because they signed him to a terrible extension, they have to start him? Why? @@bschaeffer12not a sustainable approach. They aren’t a good team. Like I said, their two “stars” are terrible. Both need to relinquish their contracts. They are stealing money currently. Forgive me for not being happy with mediocrity. Anything less than a 95-100 win team is unacceptable for me, given the history of the franchise. If they can’t or won’t do that, everyone should be fired and released and they need to rebuild.

Marmol should be fired before today's game. The guy puts great pitching performances on short leashes . Most recent Gray, Lynn, and Liberatore. Then he leaves Mikolas in to deal out 94 pitches. Hey , stop making excuses for Marmol's tired BP , it's a cop out to avoid pointing out the fact its tired because he think pitchers can never throw anywhere near a 100 pitches. This Fraud shouldn't be managing.
