Not many serious actors can do comedy very well, but Roddy McDowall was not afraid to put himself out there in order to have a little fun, and audiences loved him for it. As a young girl growing up in the 70s, I thought he was adorable. It was always a treat to see him on The Carol Burnett Show. RIP Roddy McDowall. ♥

I know, right? One of my fave parts of Singin' In The Rain. They sure don't make 'em like that anymore: Roddy McDowall, Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor and so may more. That's when entertainers had talent!
Carol doesn't get enough credit for her singing ability. Not only could she do novelty songs, she could wail a soulful ballad or torch song with the best of 'em. I always loved when she would sing on the show.
As a Brit, I'm insanely proud Roddy McDowall was an Englishman! He was loved by all who knew him, as a truly wonderful, loyal friend (Liz Taylor was among his closest buddies). By all accounts he was the real deal - he really was as witty, charming, genteel and fabulous as he appeared. And what a powerhouse talent! That man could play everything from comedy to tragedy. Only he could have imbued that rubber chimp mask with so much personality! We all have a favourite Roddy performance - mine might be his wonderful cameo as horror TV host 'Peter Vincent' in 'Fright Night', opposite the equally sublime Chris Sarandon in 1985. He made every role magical to the end of his life. Roddy's death from lung cancer in 1998 aged 70, took him from us far too soon. But what a wonderful life!
Remember sitting with my mother in the Capitol Theater in Vancouver watching Lassie Come Home . Think we both shed a few tears. No wonder I'm writing this now How Green Was My Valley was a real winner, too. Beats the crud they produce so much today. There was class back then that seems to have gone now. Mom would not approve, nor would I. Roddy, we who remember you, miss you.
Carol Burnett she is extremely very funny and a great actress . Roddy McDowall he's a good actor , I am remember he did the voice over , " Snowball , from Pinky and the Brain " , I think he did a great job . RIP Roddy .
I was only born in 1970, so i remember watching 'planet of the apes' on tv as a toddler, and thinking he was so cute. and yes, i remember that. LOL my mom bought me planet of the apes dolls when i was about 3, i always remember that. and of course as a small child in the 70's, i grew up watching him on all those disney tv movies, like 'that darn cat'. etc. i always loved him.
This is great.im a big roddy fan,i miss the old talk shows where you can actually get wholsome entertainment the family can enjoy and learn somthing fun
@@SARISS80 Actually, it's Caesar. I believe this was 1973 and he came out in his make up for Battle for the Planet of the Apes in which he played Cornelius' son... Caesar.
gocolago33, Roddy was such a pro at tongue twisters, he rehearsed maybe 2 or 3 times; he's that good! I, on the other hand, have trouble with pronouncing cinnamon, Massachusetts, impediment. . . . And, yes, this one is brilliant!
No one could spell his name correctly. Not even you. He was just so fantastic! A very odd choice perhaps for a young teen girl in the Midwest in the early '70s? I guess so!
Wasn’t his claim to fame Cornelius from Planet of the Apes ? Toy boat is funny to try to say ! I get about 4 before I screw up , and whistling the And Griffiths show tune for some reason breaks me up ! Lol 😂
Betty Botter bought some butter but, she said , this butter's bitter. If I put it in my batter, it will make my batter bitter. But a bit of better butter that would make my batter better. So she bought a bit of butter, better than the bitter butter, and she put it in her batter, and the batter was not bitter So 't was better Betty Botter bought some better butter.
Try 3 tongue twister in portuguese. (You shall say it very fast) 1 - Três pratos de trigo pra três tigres intrigados. 2 - O pelo do pé do pedro é preto. 3 - O rato roeu a roupa do rei de roma.
