She looks really healthy there! One of my favorite female singers. Show biz in the us have strong tendencies to kill artists dying young one way or another. It’s the way things r too it throat and everything profit oriented.
@Bee Dee A haunting description, since her therapist suggested to her family that if they would hug her and reassure her she was loved, it would go a long way to comfort her. And so, with all the sadness irony sometimes shows us, we find her voice gives us the very comfort she wanted.
She seems to be so happy here. What great performers and this particular concert is my favorite. My mom loved her, so I was blessed to grow up listening to an angel such a perfect beautiful voice. Miss you Karen
@@thomasimburgia7293 this is my favorite too. They all seemed so happy and enjoying what they’re doing. Same, my mom loves her and it’s one of the few things we have in common.
I was just 10 years old then when I first heard that wonderful voice of Karen Carpenter ! Now I'm 67 years old and my tears keep rolling down my cheeks as I listen to her unending beautiful songs especially "I KNOW I NEED TO BE IN LOVE" !
Karen Carpenter had the most calming voice of the 60's . She left us way too soon. Anyone that put a dislike to her singing is totally nuts. She and her brother Richard were great to listen to and I am glad i discovered this You tube presentation
Karen zczrpenter was hands down one of the very best singers ever@ her voice was so clear and so beautiful! Listening to her sends goosebumps through my whole body!!*****
Karen was an amazing woman, with an amazing voice, one in a billion. A very humble and wonderful person, her brother must miss her terribly as I know we all do! She is with the Lord now and someday we will all hear her sing again!!
I can't tell you when was the last time I heard Close to You. It still hurts to remember seeing Karen on the cover of People Magazine in the Supermarket announcing her death. I'm in tears. Gone too soon.
You are amazing Karen same époque I'm 73yrs missed your tour in UK. 74ish home now in NZ heaps of us here oldies Welcome Haere Mai Lvyas merci pour votre musique fabuleux je t'écoute toujours xxxxxxx
How could this absolutely beautiful and talented woman EVER believe she was anything less than what she was? What a tragedy for her and the world. RIP beautiful Karen.
I dont agree at all! Lucy Thomas (suddenly, starlight, somewhere), Barbra Streisand, Sissel Kyrkjebø, Hayley Westernraa, Ingeborg Bratland, Gunnhild Tvinnereim (Nocturne, Secret Garden) and some of the ladys in Celtic Women are better. Karen is one of my favorites and The Carpenters were brilliant....But check out my names and probably you will change your opinion.....
She was an incredibly wonderful vocalist! I often think of all the great music she would have continued to record/perform had she not left us so young!
An 80s kid, one of my first memories was my dad telling me that Karen had died. Can’t even remember the song, just the rainy day in the sedan as a Carpenters song played. Cannot ever remember such emotion so I always associated her with such a sadness and pain - my dad was her age and I found all her records in his collection. A few years ago I started looking her up on RU-vid. I am absolutely floored, watching her from 70-74. I think of how my life might have been different had she lived and continued making music. But I am playing her songs for the next generation- she will live on.
Alex: Me, too! I was born in 1971. My brother (10 years older than me) and the Americans who lived upstairs listened to the Carpenters. So I heard their music very early. I love their melodic tunes so much... Richard is really a great arranger, composer and musician. He has an ear for good tunes and instrumentalization. And Karen... she is so unique. No one can ever match Karen's class in vocalizing and drumming. She was excellent. So naturally gifted... simply adorable. I enjoy their music every day. It's timeless. I also love their more upbeat songs, not only the ballads. The Carpenters were, are and will be great forever! I have more cds, dvds and books from the Carpenters than of any other artist.
My God,shes fascinating!! gorgeous, and incredible talent!! Shes so fun to watch on stage!Karen is very special, a talent for the ages !!! I can't think of ANY one to match this great singer, and superb talent.!
She looked so healthy and happy at this concert! Absolutely the best female singer.....EVER! Still brings tears to my eyes to watch her perform! My all time favorite singer by far....such a soothing, beautiful, never to be duplicated voice!
Yes, She is sick, and to my mind, music ate her, cose it seems that poor woman and lady too much faned by music and it's pity forgot about of everyday's taking of simple FOOD that useful for her health! It's very- very pity: what single in all the World voice of Karen and what tragic fate unlucky very young woman, who passed away so early - in 32!!!!! I don't believe why nobody from her relatives, that ate by her unusual talant, and friends couldn't save her from horror death! Never believe!
@@linnhanson1515That's what I see, too. Her upper body looks very frail and you can see her fading in her face. Voice was still great. This must have been close to the end. What a loss to the American music industry.
IM SPEWING, SHE LEFT US WAY TO EARLY, LIKE A LOT OF TALENTED GREATS , FREDDI, MICHEAL HUTCHINSON, GEORGE MICHEAL, BON SCOTT,, MICHEAL JACKSON, I GROW UP LISTING TO THEIR MUSIC, BUT IT ONLY NOW IM OLDER DO I REALLY APPRECIATE HER AND HIS TALENT THAT WILL AND HAS STOOD THE TEST OF TIME , I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO SEE THEM LIVE, BUT WAS BORN IN 72,A BIT TOO LATE ,KARENS LOW TONES AND TIMING IS JUST OUTSTANDING, THANK YOU LINDA AUSTRALIA
It seems incredible that such a pretty girl could not recognize her beauty in a mirror. She had to suffer serious problems in her personal and family relationships in order not to feel so wonderful, so loved and admired for her talent, her charisma, her beauty and her voice as she really was for all the rest of the people. Damn you, miserable haunted mirror.
So wonderful to watch her enjoy herself. She looks and sounds beautiful. And quite rare for a female singer to sing comfortably in a lower pitch than her speaking voice.
Her voice is so clean and clear. She could sing solo without instruments. An angel upon a fleeting comet. She’s in heaven singing to her Father. Bittersweet.
Karen Carpenter - as a teenage singing boy soprano I cried my eyes out when you passed away, went outside and with right and left fists punched the brick wall of our home until my knuckles bled, you really just made music lovely. My Dad (98) is trained pitch & tone perfect operatic tenor, even remembered in 2014 at Monte Cassino, Italy, for being a New Zealand soldier at that great battle, but also for travelling on furlough to sing in the Opera Houses in Bari, and Dad regards Maria Callas, Kiri Te Kanawa, Judith Durham, Randy Crawford and your voice among the best of the best Female singers he ever heard, high praise indeed, as he was the first male opera singer in New Zealand to win a scholarship to study in England. Love you Karen always.
Critics said they sang saccharine soaked feely good music - there's a place for head banging music - then there's also a place for heaven on earth music.
Well Karen sounds so amazing as always but also looks so amazing here with a healthier weight in the upward direction. I never saw her look so beautiful.
Every teen remembers 1970's .... spinning this music .... on a turn table, or any Summer @ a beach? .... blaring from a radio! .... My God, times have changed! ...... The Carpenter's were super talented! ......
An unbelievable talent with an incredible voice range that was mesmerising to listen to. Put on a pair headphones, close your eyes and listen to that rich velvety voice sing those wonderful melodies for a wonderful listening experience
Yes, at the age of 13, one Saturday afternoon in June 1974, It was sunny.I skipped track and field practice and went home. Because I found out that there was a TV broadcast of the Carpenters performance in Japan. For the first time, I trembled when I saw the real moving Carpenters. This is the video at that time. I am trembling again.
I love karen so much.tell.i went.to see the carpenters in June 10.of 1973 I been a fan for.50 years I think they r the best I love to hear her.sing.and talk too
What a great concert! Karen Carpenter was a goddess with a voice of an angel. What a pity that she left us so soon. And the whole band is impressive. Greetings from Portugal.
It sounds in direct better than studio ! Great singer the best of all times indeed , nice and smart woman as well , with a divine voice without any doubt
