karens voice is so amazing pitch perfect rich deep velvety and soulful and i wish that she would have been alive to record so many more songs. The world lost an amazing talent when she passed away

Thanks for sharing, There are dynamics between siblings that can bring something special and unique but also hurdles non-relateds never have. I think Richard did ok producing I assume, but he could never match her skill (who could), and this was the time of Bacharach and others. (Not so with our current super sis-bro duo, Billiie & Finneas!!) I do hear Bread and the 70s sound here. It was not my favorite decade as I prefer singer songwriters. I went from the Beatles right to Elton. I do remember that movie 'Billy Jack' and I believe it's the end-piece that we hear her with "Bless the Beasts and the Children', that was a real treat I still remember. Enjoyed ur vid...

Two of the Beatles liked Richard Carpenters rework of their song and loved Karen Carpenters voice. It would be rather stupid to do a cover and do it the same way the original singers did. It had already been done the original way once no one needs a duplicate of the original. Karen thought of herself as a jazz drummer. She had mastered "Take Five" which was written to show case Dave Brubeck's drummer Joe Morello. At the time not many drummers or (any other instrument player) could do 5/4 time which "Take Five" was written in. I was at the Newport Jazz Festival on July 5, 1959 when it was played for the first time live. Made me a life time lover of California jazz which a lot of Richards compositions were very close to.

Your entitled to your opinions about the arrangements, but this was the Carpenters not to be compared to anyone else.

There are few things more joyful than Karen at the drums. I never quite understood why Cubby O'Brien always played double drums with her; his predecessor, Jim Anthony, would move to percussion when Karen took the throne.

I believe it’s because when he joined the carpenters the contract pretty much stated that he was the drummer for the carpenters. It was kind of like Karen was joining him instead of Cubby joining her when she played . Oh I might add they played perfectly in sync with one another . like a mirror image .

@@charlesballard8316 That sounds plausible. Don't get me wrong; O'Brien is a fine drummer, if a little busy (clearly he's from the Ronnie Tutt school), but I would have preferred that, when on the kit, that Karen had been the sole drummer. Of course, I'm one of those "Karen should have never left the drums" guys anyway...

@@dougramsey1012 All of Karen’s fans believe she should’ve stayed on the drums. Some go as far as to say it may have saved her life. However, Karen became the star of the group and people could not see her from behind the drums, so Richard and management moved her out front , you can watch the videos and tell She was definitely happiest when drumming and singing together.

Maybe we could make a trade with this guy and get KC back. I’m only joking! Or not! No, I’m joking! Or am I? Lol

This guy just does not get it. He is just another critic who doesn’t have a clue Luckily there are millions of us who do have a clue
