The Cars playing Blue Tip from the Album “Move Like This” on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon May 24, 2011 Ric Ocasek, Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes, David Robinson
Yes I'm sick of these artists dopey hip hop music soo bland nothing intriguing or psychedelic in the sound lyrics the same. Music like this stands the test of time kids today has missed out big time.
@@haydenwittig8877 I guess you should stop listening to only 3 radio stations and maybe actually explore the countless bands out there making pretty great albums. But nah, you won't. Instead you'll piss and moan like the ignoramous you are.
Grew up with them...Cars were absolute pinnacle of 80’s New Wave. Great work with Hawkes signature 80’s Casiotone lo/fi sound, and filling in Ben Orr’s bass style. This could easily have been transposed into1980. Shame that this was probably the end.
Now that Ric is also gone, it most likely is over. Unless Elliott, Greg, and David get together with Todd Rundgren and more friends to do another "New Cars".
Loved The Cars ever since their first album debuted in 1978. Been a fan ever since! They have a very unique sound that just makes you want to sing along. I missed hearing them until they released MOVE LIKE THIS! Even though Benjamin Orr is no longer with [us], they still sound really awesome! Great job!!!
Still always....The Greatest. Sadly, somethings very much missing. Yep. THE IMFAMOUS ONE AND ONLY BENJAMIN ORR. Now, Ric's Gone. When THE CARS 1st came on the scene in '77, we all knew in our youth that life and death was all part of the deal, but as THE CARS blasted out of our speakers, we never even thought of those things. We were immortal, we were "Movin' in Stereo." The reality of BENJAMIN ORR'S Untimely passing, was a wake up call, that not only were we no longer kids, but we were no longer immortal. We thought we were forever. Ben Orr was so dedicated that he was on stage a mere week before he succumbed to the cancer that ravished his body. Perhaps now he knows, were all still tuning in, watching, listening, in awe, This multi-instumentalist , singer, song writer, and wonderful human being, 22+ years after his passing .. are still by the thousands listening. Watching. You'll live on forever Benjamin Orr. Your greatest legacy, the one and only son, your namesake: Benjamin Orr Jr. Thank you Ben. You changed our lives. You still do....RIP GOOD MAN.
Sooo glad I caught THIS tour in 2011. They were my first concert ever as a kid. My cousin and I were too young to drive legally so we took a bus to the Springfield Civic Center and rocked at the "Shake It Up" tour. Miss Ben like crazy, but the "Move Like This" album was great, and a follow up would be so cool...come on dudes! :D
@@brettbasil ...and ukeleles. He was so far ahead of his time. What he did with the synth equipment available in the late 70's and 80's was remarkable.
Greg Hawkes IS the cars!! His unmistakable keyboard riffs and sounds so indicative of the 80s just paint the whole color of the cars in your brain from the Note 1... Without Greg's keyboard influences there would be no cars... Although Rick Ocasek's vocal is a lot of it... but ...still it's that KEYBOARD!!
Makes so happy to see my youth hero's still at it, Ocasek is once more at his best with this song, Hawkes did say he had ALOT in his music closet, I can imagine what is in there, if this was released 20 years ago, this would have been a top 10 hit easy but todays music crowd would not know music is if hit them in the head.......GO CARS!
Awesome band I hope another album is on the way and soon. It's been seven years since "Move Like This" came out please don't make us wait another 24 years between albums.
GREAT... but I kept waiting for _that_ perfect, 15-20 second Elliot Easton trademark guitar solo. Ya know... for that R'n'R Reality Presence, of course. Still, great, great they're back here and on form!
This is a good song. It would have been a bigger hit if they were 20 years old and not 65. The Cars were way ahead of their time in the late 70s but at the same time they were only a few years younger than the Beatles.
The last time that this band would get together, as Ric originally was going to make another solo album, but changed his mind, cause he said the songs he was writing, had to have the Cars doing it, and he was right! as that album sounds like it came straight from the 80's! Sadly Ben, couldn't appear and with the unexpected passing of Ric in 2019 means that the band is done, too but as guitarist Elliot Easton said ,they had one more album in them, as Ric was talking about all the ideas he had,but the music they made together is special enough.
I like this song! It is a flash back to the earlier days.. To bad no one but us old timers gets good music anymore. But I think David Robinson needs to have his pulse checked, it looks like he could be a zombie,
Ooh heartbeat city here we come on happy days we count on thumbs and nothing really gets us down as long as Jackys back in town. Jacky what took you soo long on just a holiday ooh jacky what took you so long I thought you knew the way. Classic cars 1984. Heartbeat city.
At least they gave us one more album in 2011 - RIP Ric Ocasek and Ben Orr - the Cars are gone for good now. I did note that Greg Hawkes tries to sing backup a little now, a change with the loss of Orr.
This sounds suprisingly not too bad..... miss not having a 'live' bass player, but the band apparently made the decision that Ben would not be replaced
Actually it's the keyboard player who played or programmed the parts and then they are "played back" via a sequence. That's why the drummer has a headset on
