Thanks so much for sharing this with us. It's such a a hot, rocking tune that I have Never heard before! Some how I missed this one. Everything the Cars did together was amazing. Sure, I love some tunes more than others but overall I could listen to them all day if I was super rich and lived on my own island in the West indies!! Hahaha! But I Can listen to them on RU-vid with channels like this one and still dig the hell out of it!! I love the Cars always and have for about 40 years now. Thanks so much!!❤❤❤
Seek out the version by Ian Lloyd, which is much better. This Cars version sounds like a demo (not even any synths), and the Lloyd cover (released in 1979) gives a clue as what the Cars' version might have sounded like with full production. It's written by Ocasek by the way.
This is like traditional rock mixed with Pop hooks and rock instrumentation. It's peer genious, all there songs are genious, so genious that the Ocasek himself cant figure out a good genre to call the band or there songs so he calls everything pop, EVERYTHING!! It really annoys me, but, rock bands can be like that.
On the Frozen Fire mailing list some years ago, Lust for Kicks won by a landslide the worst Cars song ever, second was 'I'm in touch with your World'. Still, at least someone likes it.
