Not to mention there have been plenty of cases where it’s pretty obvious an officer or friend/ family member of an officer has murdered someone (usually their spouse) and it’s then covered up by the police force. While this is not to do with the institutionalised racism that is rampant in the police, it does show you that they consider themselves ‘above the law’, are quick to resort to unnecessary violence and cover up for each other to a criminal degree. Check out the statistics for domestic violence, she’s not wrong.

Kathleen went straight to the State Attorney, and nothing happened. Better to just not get involved with cops- they are either bad themselves, or enabling the bad ones.

Many of us victims have to see our ex friends hang with abusers everytime or sometimes even our family. Nobody believes us and everyone leaves us hanging. But the moment our abuser takes our lives everyone is crying at our funeral. It's a sad reality to be a survivor.

We live in a small town about the same size as Bolingbrook and a local undercover detective for narcotics was caught taking numbers from drug dealers of those they dealed to, in exchange for the detectives silence who then turned around and sold the drugs for a profit. He and a business partner (also a cop) were caught and both sentenced to prison. The detective killed himself, a month, if that into his sentence. But Drew was merely "demoted"? He should have been fired and sentenced too.

I'm really glad you got out of that situation. People don't understand how stuck somebody can feel in an abusive relationship. I witnessed my step father completely destroy my mother mentally and physically for years and years when I was a kid. She had no where to go so she dealt with it and fought back all she could. It seriously fucked her mind up. You have a great friend on your side, glad you are safe now.

People underestimate just how manipulative a significant other is, men or women, but when it’s paired with someone causing physical harm, it’s even harder to handle, especially if not as lucky as you having such a good friend in your corner reminding you not to take it. I’ve heard the craziest ways abusers wiggle out of trouble, only reinforcing their untouchable mindset. It’s sickening. So happy you’re safe because you very well *would* have been killed eventually. If you don’t get out, that’s exactly how the story ends unfortunately. I’ve been lucky to make it a point, after watching a friend brutalized, that NO matter how much I may love a man, the first time he lays a finger on me, it’s over. Happened in college, my boyfriend threw me into the lamp/wall, and also tried controlling my birthday by not “allowing” me to invite my friends. Nope, was not giving him further chances to do more of that, bye bye! It’s amazing to watch the reactions of these cowards if you stand up to them with back up. Threw his abusive controlling ass out with my two best friends standing behind me the very same day! Suddenly not such a tough guy. This means they have a lot of time and energy on their hands, that they use to ruin other people's lives. For fun. Always sussing someone out, always sticking their nose in others people's business, always scheming. They like easy prey. Young, elderly, naive, needy, helpless, low self-esteem kind of people. When the psychopath presents himself as their "savior", "protector" and the guy who "gets them" they jump in with both feet. Over time that "savior" turns into a tyrant. The sweet talking turns into threats. Violence. Then they mix it up, causing cognitive dissonance: Flowers, beatings, flowers, beatings, flowers, beatings. The prey becomes exhausted. Clinging to the memory of the long lost savior - that never existed. The home becomes a prison. Take away their money, push away friends and family. No support. No help. A lot of abusers are very busy having children asap with their prey. It's another lock to keep them in place. If and when the prey tries to get away... there will be hell to pay. This includes involving all of the people the psychopath has "recruited" over the years. All the other people that have been "saved" and "helped" - also known as Flying Monkeys. They are there to reinforce the brainwash and the prison walls. That the prey is a selfish asshole for leaving such a great guy. Even help get rid of the bodies, because flying monkeys are brainwashed and terrorized as well. None of this happens over night.

I sincerely wish. The county is starting to get better because people are electing better city officials. The city of Naperville and Aurora have been doing great in terms of improving the quality of their policing (I think because they are starting to increase diversity in the force), however the further you get out into the farmland, things get a little more difficult. But, with all these old cops retiring the good ol boys club doesn't have much longer. When I was growing up, I didn't think lady cops were a thing. Now that I'm older, when I go back for xmas, see them all the time. It is getting better, but the healing will definitely take time.

The only thing I don’t understand is that Drew’s step brother, Thomas, helped him dispose of the blue barrel container, right? Thomas didn’t succeed in his attempted suicide, so why is it difficult to track down what happened to the blue container? Is that where Stacy‘s sister got the information of where the container is (in the canal)? Mike said at the very end of this video that the police aren’t trying to help her fish out where she believes the remains are, and she is trying to raise funds to do so.

Cops lie as a matter of SOP. They're coached by ADAs to commit perjury, and they know it's illegal, but they do it anyway, in order to keep the conviction rate artificially high. That's the American kangaroo court system. The rich and guilty buy their way out of trouble, and the poor and innocent get wrongfully convicted to be slave labor for the for-profit prison system.

@Sjwaria Law double checked - he got 38 years for the murder of Kathleen and an additional 40 years of bribery to commit murder, running congruent. He won't be eligible for parole until 2081 which would make him 127 years old. So yeah, he's not getting out lol. I think what the OP was asking is how someone could only get 38 years for murder and to top that, get 40 for conspiracy to commit murder without actually having someone killed. Most people get a life sentence for 1st degree murder. 38 years is almost insultive especially when he got a longer sentence just for talking about having someone killed.

I actually got a background check on my first husband, for immigration purposes; it came up clean. Awhile after he forced me to quit the marriage, he committed murder-suicide. Sometimes even the state's bureau of investigation can't tell you anything useful.

I feel so sorry for every single one of his wives and any woman that had the misfortune of encountering him.

One of his sons stepped up and became guardian of all the younger kids. He took over all the financial burden, the parenting, etc. all while living under the smirking, arrogant shadow of his murderous father. His son even said he had to come to grips that yes, his dad had to be the one who murdered both women. What a great deal to have thrust upon you! He grew up thinking his dad was a great dad and family guy. Talk about having the rug pulled out from under you!

@@austint7533 I saw it on the news, but it's referred to as the "Gladbeck Hostage Drama/Crisis." Long story short, two morons decided to rob a bank and took hostages and the media lost their damn minds. The reporters actually flocked around and interviewed the men while they were making their escape and pointing a gun at the crowd. One interview actually resembled a press conference, again with a loaded gun pointing at the crowd. One reporter was so eager for a story that he got into the car with the men and sat next to a hostage (I think her name was Silke). He even suggested that one of the men should place the gun at her head to make for a better story. I don't remember if she was murdered during or after the interview, but if you search "Gladbeck Hostage," I'm sure you could find it on here.
