Extremely proud to announce a new title I have been working throughout the year "Case of the Golden Idol". After 2 years of being a full time composer and working on multiple "in progress" projects, I can't describe the feelings of having my first game project completed, published and go live. The demo is available to play on Steam for free, and the full game is set to be released already this October! This is the first title track and the main theme of the game, as well as it was originally the very first track I composed for the game. The entire soundtrack has a very orchestral & mysterious feel to it, and every scenario that you play reveals more bits of the plot.
We actually played the entire game with Fernanda and honestly - regardless of whether I composed the soundtrack here or not - I would still play it, because the game is absolutely awesome.. especially for those who love detective games and other mystery elements.. This soundtrack will feature over 10 tracks, and I'm very excited to start sharing it with you :)

A new kind of detective game that allows you to think and investigate freely. Discover clues surrounding 12 strange and gruesome deaths and build your own theory. Pick your suspect, deduce the motive, unmask the awful truth.
Developed by ColorGrayGames, a Latvian Game Studio. This is their Debut title, so I can simply hope that the launch goes as successful as possible and we can work on more titles in the future!

Seeing as Kyle Misko occasionally reads the comments here, I wanted to say: your work on this project was *sublime*. It's been over a year since I finished the game and I still come back here to enjoy the soundtrack.The Case of the Golden Idol is a fantastic game, but I believe your music played a key role in making the atmosphere come to life. Really happy that the music has resonated with you to such an extent, and I'm so glad that my vision for the game's soundscape worked out well ❤️‍🔥 Being a late 90s/early 2000s kid - I'm heavily inspired by games from that era like Diablo/Warcraft/Gothic/Silent Hill/Prince of Persia/Rome Total War/Elder Scrolls/Harry Potter Games and the list goes on.. so when working on my own soundtracks I draw heavy inspiration from that era of game music and the biggest compliment is for them to resonate same way with players as those 2000s soundtracks did with me... Super honored to have contributed to the base game and it's 2 DLCs and help developers convey that atmosphere they were aiming for and help immerse the players further in this intricate story ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 Thank you for the kind words! I just recently beat this game with my friend. I had a great time with the game itself but I want to say the music (especially this track) really set an incredible mood. It hints at a mystery. One that is grander than just a lone man. With just a hint of silliness and adventure, yet always a tone of importance. Like hearing a forgotten history. All with a constant swelling just like the repeating animations set by each scene.

My favorite thing about this track is how from 1:16 onwards, the song almost sounds like if it were played in a major key it COULD have been a happy, uplifting, Stardew Valley-esque piece of music, but it's almost like something terrible happened along the way, and so instead we're left with this ominous, discordant masterpiece instead.

The soundtrack to this game was amazing. Very atmospheric. Love how it subtly chnages depending on what you're looking. Just completed the main campaign last night and woke up with the desire to listen to the entire soundtrack.

So grateful you’ve posted the soundtrack - I’m loving getting to notice in retrospect all the little things you’ve done/pieces of the music you’ve connected to the story! Honestly, one of the best suspenseful ambient/period instrumental soundtracks, I’ve heard so far. Reminded me of the soundtrack for the first Thief video game and Taboo tv series. I’ve discovered this game just yesterday and after watching the trailer instantly bought it - every single detail starting from game design to sound are so unique. Great job! Hoping to enjoy the full soundtrack on Apple Music as well.

Wow.. this is so kind of you to say.. I really appreciate your feedback here, and feel so honored to be compared to Thief soundtrack as well.. I am 1996 kid and grew up on all of these titles from late 90s and early 2000s, and I appreciate that era of game soundtrack music so much, and sincerely hope to bring that into nowadays games too

@@KyleMisko Keep it going! It’s so great that some developers and artists/composers are feeling nostalgic for that era - it means that more titles like this could come up in the future! As for this project - 18th century atmosphere by itself has a lot of potential for video games and movies. It has that unexplainable vibe of mystery and grimness. Harpsichord, bass and violin were definitely the right choice.

This is my absolute favorite soundtrack from any game probably, it's so genuinely atmospheric and beautiful, I'd love if the full OST was on Spotify ;( It's crazy how memorable each track is, and how they don't get boring or stale despite you having to solve puzzles with them many times over until you understand the solution and such If you read this then I hope you continue to make amazing music, it really had made me happy to listen to!!

@@KyleMisko I just finished playing the The Lemurian Vampire DLC and I loved it (the twists were so mindboggling and fun) and especially loved the soundtrack so much!!! Immediately enjoyed all the tracks, especially the ones for the third case. Alleyways of Lanka from the The Spider of Lanka DLC is probably my favorite song of the entire game (including DLCs, but I'll have to listen more to the original game's soundtrack now to really know, since they were harder to access for me before. It's hard to pick favorites from the original game since I love them all so much, the soundtrack for this game is genuinely the most I've enjoyed a game soundtrack before) I also finally bought the OST for the game on steam together with the DLCs I finished playing this week and will be jamming to it on Spotify now:) Thank you for making such nice music for this game, it's incredibly atmospheric and definitely inspires me creatively. Hoping that I'm not overcomplimenting it, I just find it super nice haha Hope you continue sharing your talent and that you have a great day!!

@@KyleMisko For me its an honour that you are listening to the cover! The soundtrack was amazing. I really love the dissonances, how some layers appear and dissappear, the use of same melody with different instruments, it doesn't feel repetitive even after 1 hour playing trying to figure out what the hell happened :D Keep on rocking!

I talked about it on my website, but this chemistry between Latvia and Ukraine is really good.. we grew on a lot of similar titles and appreciate same things in games, they also gave me a lot of creative freedom to try new and unusual approaches.. and who would have thought that I almost the chance to make soundtrack for this game when originally applying!! It was originally done for the robbery scenario that happens in the night, but then we needed another version that plays during the day! Though I might add it nevertheless, thank you for noticing :)
