Hello my name is Mark Coffman, I am a watchmaker located in Texas and I have a passion for pocket knives, wristwatches, and every day carry items.
My goal in my RU-vid channel is to show my audience interesting items, and make interesting videos that shed some light on what can be the best EDC items you can add to your every day carry.
I also on occasion will restore pocket knives and multi tools, and in many cases I do make videos on these restorations!

I originally dislike the F-91W because of that backlight alone. That changed when I decided to buy an F-91W (green line color) for my dad as a Christmas present. That is where I start my own real world test on the backlight, and I was wrong about the F-91W. The so-called poor backlight of the F-91W is not so bad, it's decent at best. I can still see what the time and date is in the dark. Right now I am wearing the F-91W (blue line color) and I felt happy wearing it.

It offers very precise timekeeping, perpetual calendar, stopwatch, alarm, hourly chime, minimum 7 years battery life and a very ICONIC retro look. Everything for 13 EUR (price in Romania). Is it worth? - Hell, YEAH!!

One of my favorites. I like the backlight on it, doesn't work very well but does keep it a little more retro. Nice video.

It’s dorky, cheap, basic, and wonderful….and has the loudest alarm and chime of any GShock I own. I would wear it with a tux all day lol.

I have a casio w71 that was discovered whilst diving at the bottom of a river. No straps atached and still working in the year of 1991. I still have it. It still works!

Had mine for 2 months now, great watch. Lightweight, thin, inexpensive, and I love the retro look. The backlight is adequate, but I do wish it was a tad brighter. Thanks Mark!

I think you could 100% wear this with a tuxedo. This watch can go with anything from super casual to super formal.

Of course you could wear it with a tuxedo, but you really should not! This is a very sporty watch and it just does not fit with a dressy attitude. Otherwise, an iconic legend, which I also own and proudly wear, almost all the time.

I currently have this watch on my wrist. I love the simplicity and the horrible backlight. The w218 (prefer that watch) was on my wrist before the f21w. But this watch has so much meaning behind it

This was my first watch. My dad bought it to me when I was 8 years old. I still have it and it still works. I bought a second one a couple of years ago and I use it sometimes when I go to dangerous places. I love it. However, it's very small for my wrist.

Hi Mark: Nice review. I have several Casio watches…..including the AE1200 “Casio Royale,” which I think is a GREAT watch. The F-91 is an OK basic watch except that the backlight is an absolute deal breaker. It’s not that I need the light all that often….but when I DO need one……I want one that I can actually use to read the watch face by.

Happy Wednesday Mark, I used to have one a decades ago, it wore out after I wore it a lot at work and especially on army reserve duty & it took a lot of knocks so I did not replace it as it was not one of my out & out favorite Casios. I currently have 3 Casios, a Casio Men's Military 3HD MRW-210H-3AV Quartz Watch, a Casio Men's A178WA-1A Illuminator Stainless Steel Watch & a Casio Men's Vintage CA-53W-1CR Calculator Watch. All 3 are budget priced watches & I have owned several of the A178WA-1A Illuminator & the CA-53W-1CR Calculator Watch's in the past, usually they last 10 or more years before I replace them.

Casio f91 its up there with other designs icons that are forever in fashion. The Alpha Industries MA1 bomber jacket, Ray Ban Wayfarer. & blue jeans to mention a few. I like that aftermarket band. Where did you purchase it? please.

It's so strange to me to hear these called retro in their appearance. When I was kid those were considered very modern in their look. However I like them because they do seem locked in time. It's still seems to be made to same quality that nearly all pre-Y2K electronics were made in.

Do not buy this watch. Yes it is famous. The light is so bad for todays standards. Buy one of the many many many casio alternatives with illuminator or electroluminescence. My favorite is the a700. Same design but its even thinner, and has a metal bracelet and the better light.

From a purist standpoint I think this watch fits the bill. Thank you for the constructive comment. But I partially disagreed.
