As a person who got in many fights and had to deal with disciplinary problems at a young age, it is so important to learn this restraint. You only hurt yourself in the long run

After I saw the incident on Facebook, my first thought was, "What could Brother Jason say to illuminate this situation?" I'm thankful for your reflections.

he had a long time to process that, even as he was walking up on the stage...imagine if it was instead whispering in chris' ear "we need to talk after the show". such a good breakdown and lesson for us. appreciate you all.

Great Podcast Brother J....you're spot on! Here recently in my city 2 teenagers had a dispute at the mall here...the result was one dead 14 year old and one 16 year old that will end up in prison...I must admit regarding the Will Smith, Chris Rock dispute...I searched the MostHigh's scriptures for some justification for the way Will reacted....I found nothing...The MostHigh wants us to be patient an treat each other with Love...I firmly believe the anger we have in our community results from traumatic experiences that have been passed on from generation to generation. Epigenetics is the scientific term for this....Brotha J, keep doing what you do 👏 !! Shalom!

This topic is a great one to dig deeper with it... i am so thankful for this video podcast, as if it was made for me today, it really made my day. I just wish if there are more ways to respond to disrespect, we don t always fall with persons that are in position of disrepect to ourselves and those exact people re calculate their doings and come back at us with an anapology though... there are a lot of disrespectful people that they act disrespectful intentionally and they enjoy it. How can we respond to those people because it hurts when you can't just make a stand for ourselves and make them feel the hurting that they've caused to us.

25:50 I’m really glad you gave this example because it reminded me of a moment I had in my life that now that I remember it, it was a lot deeper for me than I thought. I was living in my cousin and his wife’s basement in a 3 family home where his mother - my aunt on my mom’s side - lived above him on the second floor. I had fallen on hard times and struggled to pay my rent for 3 months so my cousin’s wife decided we should have a family meeting in my aunt’s apartment. But throughout the meeting, my cousin berated me the whole time. Thankfully, I had the foresight to secretly record the conversation because up to that point, I felt like I was being taken advantage of because I paid my rent on time up to that point and every time I needed something fixed in the basement, nothing got fixed but my cousin and his wife would always go on trips, cruises, or bought fancy new things. Anyways so while my cousin was berating me during our family meeting, a meeting in which my own aunt didn’t seem to find the need to speak up on, at one point my cousin started calling out my manhood and disrespecting me as a man. I told him, “please don’t disrespect me as a man when I’m coming to you very maturely and trying to resolve this issue as civil as possible.” And I will never forget the response I got from him, “No see, but I HAVE TO disrespect you…” I don’t remember anything else he may have said after that but those words always stayed with me because no one - absolutely NOBODY - needs to be disrespected in no way, shape or fashion but my own family thought it was necessary to disrespect me and for what, to get more money out of me?? So after taking that kind of abuse and having my aunt just sit there and see me take it, someone I saw as a second mother, I decided to move out several weeks later and moved in with my mother in Texas. Life has been a struggle for me ever since but I rather life be hard due to circumstances than it be because my own flesh and blood didn’t want to help me out. Eventually I did pay back the money that I owed but that relationship is beyond repair for me.

For over 25 years, Will Smith has kept himself in a positive manner. He has maintained a positive image, despite public ridicule. Not only has he undergone public ridicule, he has been trying to get over growing up in an abusive household, where he felt like he was a coward. I'm not trying to justify his actions, but I world never judge this man for what he did. He made a mistake, and he needs help. That's it! Some of you need to stop with your judgmental ways. I'm a teacher. I've taught in urban schools for most of my life. I know trauma. I've always refused to judge those young men, because I don't know their pain. I love the message of the podcast, but I'm disappointed to see some of these judgmental comments. These comments will never bring Will Smith to the right space. Judge less. Love more.

If Jada got offended it is on her. Chris and Will are Comedians and all 3 are actors. Chris and others have cracked jokes on Jada before and they all know that sitting up front makes you top pick for comedy. He said nothing of harm. Will should have talked to Jada about letting jokes offend her and gently inform Chris of what she's currently sensitive to.

I seen so many of people talk about how dudes would let that man disrespect their woman, some with kids you know husbands, saying they going to beat him and some being seasoned fighters. Imagine you knock the person out and when they fall in public more than likely it ain’t no softer ring compared to the concrete floors of a store some crib they could seriously do some real damage to that for just some comments and that doesn’t say you shouldn’t say some or not get upset. Yet if you got kids, you hurt that person they end up in the hospital because you knocked them out, you going to end up in jail and the next thing you know there’s a time in your life where you let someone’s word control and imprison you for assault or attempt to murder if that’s bad and you miss out on life for your kids and wife.

I understand the sentiment appreciate it. I have a question for you. If someone insults your mother in front of you are you suggesting that you don't put hands on them? What about somebody calls u a racial slur again are we expected to turn the other cheek. Being too passive can lead to resentment and depression. Some people deserve a good slap

I believe Will is a good person, but his morals are in a vague place. That's how the culture of Hollywood destroys some Christians, just for the sake of the gold. Pray for him, pray for Chris and for our young men like these two strong ones here. May we be as strong as Christ in His sacrifice.

If the woman wants to do the time for murder, give her the choice. Say OK, here is a gun, you want to do 20 in prison for something someone said, then this is the equalizer, but I will not do prison time or put myself in danger for every idiot who decides to say something you may find offensive .

2:53 it doesn't matter how many jokes he made. It doesn't matter his wife is bald. Will Smith is not justified in any way. It was an award show. His job is to make jokes. And the joke itself was very mild. Any person defending Smith is a trashy egomaniac.
