How are the Celtics the clippers of the east? This team makes the ecf basically every year and made the finals once. They are a playoff team. So many teams don't sniff even sniff the cf in both conferences.

Philly and Boston played an ugly game. Even if you throw away the victory against the Celtics, the 76ers style and depth will prove to be a serious contender. Nick Nurse is the most underrated move of the offseason. You have played against a stubborn one-dimensional coach the last 4 years. Not anymore.

Honestly, that's not a good way to look at things. Every year, teams are different. This particular year, the 76ers are very different. Different players, different style of play, different coach. You're talking about history, but frankly, there isn't any relevant history. The frequency that we see the same team win the NBA championship 2 years in a row is a big clue that we shouldn't pay too much attention to what happens in past years. The playoffs put a large focus on individual matchup luck. The 76ers actually outperformed expectations in last year's playoffs. Before the playoffs began, they were expected to make it to the 2nd round and lose to the Celtics in 6 games. Instead, they were in position near the end of game 6 to send Boston home for the summer. That was the team that was judged to be the worst matchup for Philadelphia, and yet with their best player injured, the 76ers were able to surpass expectations. I'm not saying that we should believe the 76ers are the strongest team. What I am saying is that putting any serious weight on past seasons or playoffs is poor logic. It's never been a reliable indicator. And frankly, even if we did rely on Philadelphia's last playoff iteration for answers, the only reasonable conclusion would be that they are very much a championship contender. In the final quarter of game 6, Philadelphia was leading to start the quarter, and they held Boston to 24 points in that quarter. If you give a team that scenario - score 23 or more points in the quarter to win - you're going to see a high rate of return. We saw the exception happen in that game, not the likely outcome. And so when we're talking about repeating that, our prediction should be similarly altered. But again - placing any emphasis on last year's playoffs is a bad idea. It will quite likely be reinforced in sports fans' minds for the wrong reason, since it's _always_ relatively unlikely that _any_ single team will win the championship. But then again, people watch sports so that they don't have to think, right? 🙂

This isnt last years tyrese maxey and had they had this version of maxey boston would have lost that in 5. Like you said both the celtics and philly are different now. Boston had smart, grant williams, timelord and brogdon who were all thrones in the sixers side in the playoffs who they dont have to worry about this season. They also have a new coach that knows how to combat adjustments from other teams unlike doc.
