Experiencing the story in real time as a Brazilian was so heartbreaking, especially due to the frustrating as hell circumstances that led to the crash in the first place. My only hope is those who lost their lives continue to rest in peace, that the families of those who lost their lives here have been able to rebuild and recover from the loss as best as possible and that Chapecoense eventually becomes a side that can get to and consistently stay up in Serie A of the Brasileiro.

I'm Brazilian and my fiancé is currently living in Chapecó for college. There is a beautiful painting of all the players on the side of the stadium. It seems like the city has healed (of course not completely, because that's probably impossible) I went to watch Chapecoense 1x0 CSA there and the fans are still wearing Colombia shirts and flags as the Colombian people were so welcoming, took care of the survivors and hugged the whole Chapecoense fanbase

If there can be any positive to take from this, its the togetherness and caring between fans, players and everyone in football, no matter the club.

I remember this sad day very clearly.. I was up late past midnight and had to wake up early the next day to go to university, and sometime around 2-3a.m. a journalist on TV reported that there was an accident with the Chape crew but there weren’t many details on it yet, and finally I fell asleep thinking it wasn’t anything so serious. Man I wish I was right about that.. I woke up around 7:30 and while getting ready to commute, I turned the TV on and it was all over the news already. I immediately changed plans and decided to stay home cause I wouldn’t be able to focus on anything at school that day. Chape were living a superb season in Leicester City fashion; they weren’t a traditional club (they were founded in the 1970’s), never had been at the Brazilian first league and managed to not only avoid relegation a few times after getting there but also made good runs staying in the middle of the table, which for them was huge. But this time they were making the dream campaign in the Sulamericana, which is pretty much the Europa League of South America, getting to the finals after a crazy, emotional and unlikely run in the previous knockout stages that made fans from other clubs all over Brasil cheer for them, including me being a Corinthians fan. Then this happened and it felt like life was playing a prank on us.. how could that be? On the eve of Chape’s most important day ever, after gaining the love of millions of fans all over the country, players living the dream of their careers and it all ended in the most cruel way possible. I just remember watching those news in total disbelief and somehow hoping that those guys would survive and even go on to play the final later, while I ate my breakfast and my tears fell all over it. One of those days when you question if life really is fair and you realize it’s not, at all.

It's so sad man imagine one day you are celebrating a semi final win with your friends, and brothers and a few days later they're just gone it's so sad man Rip to all those who lost their lives Your spirit still lives on.

A great tragedy that was extremely unfortunate even outside the whole football context. Football players already have such short careers after having come up from many struggles in life and the staff too. It must've been devastating to their families and friends. I can't imagine their pain. The little glimmer of hope and beauty in the aftermath of this tragedy was how the whole footballing world came together to show love and support to everyone who died in the unfortunate incident. It's sad that only tragedies bring us together as people. I don't know if you actually took my advice from the community post seriously but I can see some difference in the way you narrated this video. It's much more professional. If not, great video either way. :) Would you be covering the Derby County transfer embargo situation anytime in the future?

I remember crying my eyes out for a team on the other side of the world; a team i haven't even heard of before. Their amazing run before the tragedy, the passion with which they played, and then the terrible way it all ended, it just broke my heart. Even while watching this, so many years later, i still teared up a bit. May those who died rest in peace! They will be remember forever!

As a Brazilian, seeing the chapecoense players loose their lives like that was traumatic, I was 11 at the time and I saw it on the news, rest in piece 🪦🌹

I lived in Chapeco for 3 years during middle school and went back there to teach English for a while in 2013. Living there in my teens the team had no division and i rarely thought of them, even though my school was quite literally on the street opposite to the stadium. When i returned to the city, in 2013, they were already playing in the second division and giving giants Palmeiras a pretty tough time.. it's ludicrous that the club's growth ultimately culminated in such a tragedy. It's still too much to take in

I remember when this tragedy happened. I was just starting to learn more about Brazilian football and when this happened, it was just shocking to me. I couldn't imagine a whole team and coaching staff, just dying. I still cannot imagine what the families of the deceased and the surviving players went through, knowing that their family members or colleagues will not be there anymore.

Hey Viz, I’m a brazilian myself, and I need to give you the credit of explaining exactly the felling, and the history behind the club. I remember that happened when I was in school, and after the last class, me and some friends started talking about that, it was shocking, I can remember how much we felt numb. Since Chape was never a big opposition to major teams, everyone liked them, and when that happened just the numb. Thanks for the video! Vamo Vamo Chape!

One player that doesn't get a lot of coverage is Chapecoense's only foreign player that year; Alejandro Martinuccio. Martinuccio was an injury-prone Argentinian player who previously played for Penarol, Villareal and Cruzeiro which Chapecoense took a chance with after he went 18 months without a game. After playing 10 games, Martinuccio picked up a new injury and was unable to get fit on time for the Copa Sudamericana Final on time. As a result, Martinuccio was forced to remain in Chapeco while his teammates boarded the ill-fated flight. Martinuccio would leave Chapecoense a few months later to return to Argentina with Nueva Chicago in the Argentinian 2nd division. After stints back in Brazil, Spain and Uruguay, he now plays for Colegiales in the 4th division in Argentina.

The saddest part is the airline and pilot valued saving money over human lives. This was a regular practice by this airline, determined during the investigation. This is including a flight not long before this tragedy, which included Messi and the Argentina national team. So so sad bless their family. Espn did a great piece on this disaster and really dig into the incompetence of the airline.

It's uncommon that he didn't made a videos relating to FIFA 23 because every people didn't like his funny pranks. He wanted a documentary movies about real life football, including the tragedies, just like what Rabona TV did. To be fair, Chapecoense, Munich, and Superga will never be forgotten for the world football when it comes to plane crash incident. Football hooliganism that caused a big fatalities will remain in eternity, most notably the disaster in Indonesia that killed 135 peoples.

I still remember waking up that awful day. Before sleeping, the night before, I remember seeing an ad for the first match of the Sudamericana final on my tv, up until that night I barely knew Chapecoense was even a thing.. Never I expected to wake up and see the news with the main one being that the plane of that same team I just saw an ad for its most important match in its history just crashed and well most of the team tragically died. Idk if it was pure chance or what bur that morning was specially grim, sky as gray as it can be and in the verge of having the rains of all rains. Idk but sometimes I believe, even the sky wanted to cry that morning. As a south american fan that was easily one of the worst days I could've have as a football fan, Im from Ecuador and I barely had any knowledge about Chapecoense but since then I've been supporting them and likely wont stop to support them, it is an awfully sad story that just to think about it makes me sad, R.I.P to all the players, staff and flight crew who unfortunately passed away that night. All I can say is that Im happy that everyone in the world of football came together to help Chape in any way they could, specially Atl. Nacional Medellín who at the time I had a lot of hate for, what they did was ultra respectful and surely change my view I had on them.
